Current I sometimes crave people, but then they visit me with their families and pets and kids and grandparents and suddenly I just want to be alone so I can sleep in peace. /sleepy

For now, roleplays set in this world are not open. Since they're long-term, dedicated projects, I need to at least have worked with you successfully or happily at least once before we try any of the plots in this post (#4).

[/SUP]

- Bloodstained Throne -

[ ♚ ]

[SUP]A half-human, half-elven prince, bred and raised in his underground chamber, struggles to assimilate with his mankind siblings when his father, the king, passes away and denounces his soft quarantine. Despite the throne having been secured by the regent, the queen, he is treated with disdain and caution. With no love from a mother since birth and now father as well, he is left to fend for himself, with the support of one person: his bodyguard, whom the king had personally tasked to "keep watch" of the half-elf since young.

When push comes to shove, after a "game" gone wrong that may very well be a staged assassination attempt, the halfblood flees the castle and searches for a new place to call home. Due to his obscured upbringing, the everyday subjects are oblivious to his identity; their unbiased treatment is a welcome. His bodyguard finds him, and together they live the slow and happy days of peasantry.

Unfortunately, blue skies are not forevermore. The nobles and soldiers are sent to collect him back - dead or alive. Why would he be pursued to the ends of the horizon if he is such an intolerable presence? The prince seeks answers alongside his loyal bodyguard as the fugitive life befalls them.[/SUP]

- Shadows at the Hem -

[ ♚ ]

[SUP]A human boy who has been raised by a group of deacons strives to follow the footsteps of his surrogate family. During one excursion where his brothers have been sent to exterminate a fallen, an imp follows them back to the camp, where he begins feeding on the life essence of the oblivious boy who could not see the sprite. The boy does, however, hear "soft murmurs" and "hushed laughter" every so often, which scare him enough to keep the occurrence a secret, for fear of tall repercussions.

The boy grows frail and weak over the years, and on his twenty-first birthday, he gets the biggest surprise of his life to see his parasitic companion, who has grown into what looks to be a human, an adult man. The imp has fed enough to be tangible now.

Found to be possessed, he is denied by the Order to join their ranks and is subsequently cast out by people whom he was once close kins with. The supersized imp makes his getaway, but after an extended time, discovers that he will regress back into his tiny, pulpable form when his host is separated from him for too long.

In exchange for his life essence, the young human forces him into odd jobs of extermination of the damned and other menial work - like aiding old grannies with their stubborn jars. They form an unwilling, symbiotic duo.[/SUP]

Please refer to my Criteria and Standards list for a quick gist of what I am like, and what I am looking for. It would save us both precious time and possible grief.

Default information aside, a forenote is that I have seen a lot of characters that exhausted my optimism for an enriched roleplay experience. You can still use them, as I am guilty of incorporating these archetypes in my roleplays as well (half of them inevitable when we need more drama, after all). Just be aware that I have seen enough to spin my own 1001 Arabian Nights about my firsthand experiences. They are unwelcome only when the narration is bland and linear, really.

The clichéd tropes are:

  • Jerkass with a Heart of Gold, or The Villain You Can't Hate

"They can be rough around the edges and will not restrain with harsh comments, sometimes even antagonising others, vain too, but deep down they are kind to a fault. Despite how hateful they come off as, they are a loyal comrade worthy of tolerance, if not outright admiration."

"He slaughtered a dozen victims, and it was later found that he was mentally unstable with the constant stream of flashbacks after his rejection by a love interest, who turned him down cruelly. Those people made fun of the exact same attribute his love interest was spurning, and so he taught them a lesson the hard way. He was ... hurting."

    .
  • Let's All Be Friends!

"Please, stop fighting! Now stop ignoring one another. We should air the laundry and invite harmony into our lives. Can't everyone just get along? I want to see world peace ..."
    .
  • Emotionally Constipated, Fit for the Stereotypical Role

"Imagine a stuffy-collared profession notoriously known for uptight workers. I am such as well, in spades. In fact, it has been speculated that I skipped childhood and was born with 눈_눈 on my face."
    .
  • Death Spared Me, Survive with Guilt

"Something or some corporation massacred my people and I managed to escape death by a hair's breadth. As the only survivor, I need to avenge for my late family and fellow kins. Otherwise, I shouldn't have made it out alive. The way I live now is a form of punishment for being the only lucky one."
    .
  • Antisocial Butterfly

"I don't know why people keep flocking to me even though I have been a douchebag to them all the damn time. Maybe I'm actually some protagonist with an inherent magnet in my personality ... somewhere, somehow. I hate everyone but those oddballs just adore me."
    .
  • A Parent Died So It Changed Me Irredeemably

"I was a great kid, a happy child. My parents were proud of me, the neighbours loved me to bits. Then my mom died. I hated my father for not doing more to save her. I hated my neighbours for having a complete family. I couldn't cope with the loss, so I took the devil's hand and went downhill from there."
    .
  • Perfection and a Dollop of Quirk

"Anything I pick up, I'm just a born talent for it. Minimal effort at worst. I am not a Sue, darn you. I'm clumsy too! And stubborn! And gullible! I can't lick my elbows! See? *accidentally trips and kisses you*"
    .
  • Fearsome Badass, Fearsome Temper

"I am a master of weapons and a renowned disciple of mixed martial arts. Do not piss m- DID YOU JUST ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME? Cower, you moron. I guarantee you will soon forget how you ever urinated without a straw."
    .
Free bump.
I like this topic. Expect my long response in a few days. Canadian friends visiting (read: hoisting me out for a social life).

For those who spent time formulating your thoughts into elaborate, comprehensive musings, I luv you all.
All I'm getting from this is that you have an issue with Spice and Wolf, you're some kind of pedigree pug, and you stalked the site for some time before sticking out.

You're a quirky specimen. I like you.
People forget others aren't mind-readers sometimes.
Newfound Peeve:

"I wanna' do an RP where it's Depressed X Normal. I'm the Depressed!"

*when roleplay begins*

All they ever do is be negative and spurn every attempt. 30 posts in, still the same. Bonus if they never write more than 50 words per post. If you ask to speed it up, they get batshit upset because GUESS WHO WAS SELF-INSERTING?

If you need help IRL, get appropriate help. Don't try to sneak on people through roleplaying.
@Dynamo Frokane That chick in the pic is hot though.
Little annoyance of mine; when someone you're plotting with does not pull their weight. I can handle a lot of things in RPing, really, but if I wanted to pull the story all on my own I'd be writing a novel, not a roleplay.

"What do you think?"
"Sounds cool."
"I was thinking of ___, too. But I wanna hear your thoughts too!"
"Lol anything is fine with me."
Either do an interest check like @Ammokkx said or use a roleplay scenario generator.
