@Parfex Also, nice post. :D Though one goof... on the picture, the weapon says Glock 26. Glock 16s don't exist, and a gun like that doesn't carry 22 rounds. lol Oh well, that's just me being Douchey McNitpick. XD

Whoops, I forgot the number.
Good looking out!

Adrian touched down just a few houses down from where he lived. Pulling his hoodie tight, he avoided walking in any direct light from the streetlights, weary to any cameras or sensors that might have been installed in them. He could hear a few dogs barking throughout the neighborhood. His powers were probably a strange and unfamiliar sound to their sensitive ears. Sirens whaled off in the distance in all directions but non of them sounded like they were headed towards him. He could safely assume that he successfully evaded the cops for now. He was exhausted. All Adrian could think about was crawling into his bed and worrying about what was going to be reported in the news tomorrow.
As he approached his front door, he glanced back over his shoulder one last time to indulge his paranoid nerves. "The last thing I want to do tonight is explain to my mom why I am wanted by the cops for unorthodox use of superpowers." he thought to himself. Adrian reached for the door knob and slid his key into the hole to unlock it and go inside. Except... the key didn't turn.
Adrian felt stupid after fighting with the lock on the door for several minutes and still not having access into his own home. He was as quiet as he could be, as to not wake his mother but he was getting frustrated at being outsmarted by a simple wooden door. No matter how hard he tried, his looks of disdain and contempt did not threaten the lock into granting him access. Defeated, he trudged through the wet grass and the darkness until he made his way onto the back porch. The back door was locked too. Adrian wasn't surprised. He checked for the spare key he had hidden away under one of the loose stones on the pathway leading up to the door. Adrian slid the key and the rock back in their resting place after he unlocked the back door.
"Did mom get a new couch today?" he thought, scanning the room. Adrian flicked on the light. "Woah mom. You redecorated the whole house? Where did you get the money for all of this? ...and why did you buy such ugly things?" Adrian continued to mutter to himself about the unusual decor choices his mother made in his absence as he made his way to the fridge. "Even the fridge is new. But why throw out the stew we made this afternoon? I was looking forward to some when I got home." Adrian settled on some of the store bought chicken and a hand full of peanuts from the can on top of the fridge.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?' An angry voice came from behind him. "Don't make any sudden moves bub. This here is a Glock 26 and I don't think I'll need all 20 shots to take your dumb ass out." Adrian froze with a drumstick still in his mouth. "You've got to be the stupidest burglar I've ever seen. What robber turns on all the lights from the house he's stealing from anyways?' The man behind him sounded like he was ready for a fight and Adrian didn't want to agitate him any further. "Matthew, sweetie. Look at his clothes, they're all worn down. I think he's just homeless and hungry." A woman spoke not too far away from where the man was standing. "Don't be so hard on him. He probably just needs help." Adrian stood with his back to both of them, listening. "Homeless or not, he's probably on drugs and I'm not risking you getting stabbed or hurt because we went easy on him."
"I'm not homeless and I'm not on drugs." Adrian called out. "In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best thing to say..." "So you are robbing us and you're incredibly stupid. Lilly, call the cops. I want this trash in jail where he belongs as soon as possible." "Go ahead and call them. I'd like to watch you explain to the cops what you are doing in MY house!" Adrian turned to face them, scowling at the man. "Boy, you must be off your meds. We've been living in this home for 4 years. Just paid the mortgage off it this year too."
"Four years, you've got to be..." Adrian choked on his words. He just noticed his reflection in the glass of the microwave. "Do you have a mirror?" Adrian turned and headed for the full length mirror in the living room. "What the hell are you babbling about no... HEY! I still have a gun pointed at you! Don't move again or I'll shoot!" Adrian was too fixated on the mirror to pay attention to the man's threats.
A stranger peered back at him from the mirror. When he blinked, the stranger blinked too. His hair looked like Adrian's but longer, his face looked a little older. The piercing violet eyes that he knew so well peered back at him. The reflection looked confused, scared, worn and tired. "What year is it?" "What?" "What's the date today? The full date?" Adrian asked with angst, turning to face the man. "Honey, I think he's schizophrenic. Do you see a hospital band on his arm with a phone number that we can call?" the lady whispered to her husband, as she clung to his sleeve. "Look boy. I don't know if you got a few screws loose but I see that you really do need help. Do you have someone we can call to come get you?"
"The date. It's very important that you tell me the date. Please. The man sighed and looked down at his phone. "It's April 2, 2026. But why does that matter? What's so important about today's date? Look, I'd rather not be on the news for having a mentally ill person arrested in my home. If you just give me a number to call I'll..." "2026?!? I've been gone for FIVE YEARS?!?" Adrian felt the color draining from his face. "Here. Call this number. It's my mom's phone. I can't even imagine how worried she is!" Adrian spoke the numbers as Lilly called the number and let her phone ring on speaker. "The number you have dialed has been disconnected. If you'd like..." Lilly tried again. "The number you have dialed has been disconnected..."
"Do you have someone else we can call? That number doesn't seem to be working." she asked after the third attempt. "Son, can you at least tell us your name?" Matthew's tone was softer this time. "I'm Adrian Hunter. I used to live here five years ago.
"Hunter, Hunter... Why does that name sound familiar?" Lilly started searching through Google on her phone. "Alright Son, I believe you. Can..." "I KNEW IT!" Lilly's excitement was an unexpected change to the current tone. "Hunter. Yes! Here it is! I remember this from when I was looking up facts about this house before we bought it! It says right here "Andrea Hunter and her late husband Mark Hunter lived here with there son Adrian Hunter. Andrea was attacked and killed by a brute named 'Grissom' a few months after the disappearance of her son 'Adrian Hunter'!""And look. There's a picture of the two of them right here. Gosh. He looks just like you." Lilly held up the glowing screen of her phone for Adrian to see. The screen might as well have been headlights and Adrian was the deer because all he could do is stare frozen at her screen.
"My mom's dead? ...Grissom killed my mom?"

At this point, would it be a good idea to repost this universe as a new thread with the same rules and characters?
Whoever is still active can copy and paste their CS and old posts and the new can get a few new members?

@Parfex Not yet, I'm waiting for FantasyChic to post :(

I just meant in general.

Everyone has greeted, shook hands and ate one another.
Your next post will be the plane taking off correct?

Think it's time for the plane to take off?

"A month. A MONTH! What was the point in even telling me that there was a lead on Grissom if it was going to take so long to pinpoint his location?" Adrian was livid. If he didn't know any better, this whole mission was delayed because of Esperanza Alvarado. As far as people he trusted, she was up there but he had a feeling that she was more cunning than she let on. What bothered him wasn't the fact that she may have (probably had) delayed finding new information on Grissom. It was that she reminded him so much of his mother who he was trying to avenge.
"The woman who's the most like my mom, is helping me catch the guy who killed my mom, but by acting like my mom, she is getting in the way of me catching my mom's killer. If that's not the definition of irony, I don't know what is." Adrian was getting strange looks by the men of the 32 because he was muttering to himself but he didn't care.
Due to the condition of his shoulder upon the return of last month's mission, Esperanza suddenly "lost track" of Grissom. The doctor said it was going to take a month for the stitches to dissolve and the wound to heal. Low-and-behold, at the end of the month, Grissom suddenly starts showing signs of "activity" again. "Bullshit."
One of the 32 made a fake *coughing sound* at Adrian's outburst.
"If this guy doesn't mind his own business, I'm going to show him how useless his riffle that he's so proud of really is."
Adrian cocked an eyebrow at the solider, who pretended not to notice the scowl that followed.
"I probably shouldn't be mad the the crew. They're good men who want to help me stop Grissim. ..I probably shouldn't be to hard on Esperanza either. She was just making sure that I didn't rush into a mission half-cocked."
"Speaking of half-cocked, are you going to ask Ms. Alvarado out on a date or somethin'? The way you talk about her, it sounds like you fancy each other."
Before Adrian could blast a hole in the solder's head big enough to permanently erase that smug look on his face, the cargo bay began to open up and the pilot' voice crackled in through the radio.
"Alright ladies! Quit comparing bra sizes and get ready for E-Vack! We are here at the beautiful city of Poblado de El Brujo! So spit that man's dick out of your mouth, make sure your chute is strapped on tight and I wanna see you best Olympic pose while jumping out of this baby's ass!"
The men chuckled and strapped on their helmets.
Adrian seized the opportunity to force pull the smug solder's helmet from him and then blast it out the open bay door.

@The Kid Lantern

Here's my "evil genius". Think ruthless genre savvy Batman. He's low tech, but is the sort of baddie that knows just how to get what he wants. You know the kind I'm talkin' about.

@The Kid Lantern
Ok, I'm not usually for the "Evil Genius" roll because they either have a gadget for everything and are OP or they are the other end of the spectrum and are basically useless.

@Doc Doctor made a very cool E.Genius!
I LIKE this guy!
Can we keep him?
Please, please?
Can we? lol

Adrian could feel the deep thud of the bass long before he could actually hear the melody through the trees. Athens Park was a place for family picnics and flying kites, cute dates and scenic walks to just get away from the hustle and bustle of the city during the day. At night however, it was the perfect place for teenagers to hang out and get into trouble. The police heavily patrolled the borders of the park after dark. Adrian supposed they did a well enough job despite the fact that half of his high school found a way to sneak by them whenever there was a party. Because of the heavy patrols, littering was more often than not the worst offense that happened at Athens. The park and the outskirts of the city were so safe that the only news to report this week was about a drug user who got arrested on the outskirts of the park everyone loved so much. The news always hyped up their stories. It was more often than not someone smoking and not anything that considered to be 'hard stuff', but people love to gossip. Adrian would hear reports over the loud speakers of his school. Things like "The park is overrun with crime and corruption." and "The streets aren't safe anymore." but none of it was true. Occasionally there would be talk about evoking a curfew but that idea would quickly get hushed by people without kids, business owners who worked nights and by parents who wanted to catch a movie or go out for a walk after sending their kids to sleep. No, the worst thing that was going to happen this week was already happening undetected. Adrian, having already snuck out past the patrol line, hoped that it would continue to go unnoticed.
Athens wasn't a utopia. There was actual crime. Adrian's mother continuously warned him to stay out of the city. She often said "The deeper you go into the city, the worse and more dangerous the crimes become." He had occasionally heard the media reporting strange crimes that were conducted by unexplainable means. Those reports would rarely be discussed for more than a day before the mayor would make an announcement with some vague explanation for the damages or for the stolen property. Most of the people would scratch their heads and move on after a day or two. Some of the gossipers would make up their own reasons for what happened but Adrian felt that those stories were even more ridiculous than the 'explanations' the mayor gave. Most of the time, he barely payed attention to what the news reported. However, when strange events happened, he did pay close attention to the news. Admittedly, he rarely had an explanation for what the news was reporting as "strange" but he would make a note of the event to himself whenever the mayor had to come and give a 'reason' for the event. Whenever the mayor gave one of his 'suspicious' explanations, Adrian would always see someone from the Unit 32 standing in the background; just at the edge of the camera frame, making the mayor extra nervous.
The men and women from the Unit 32 were not bound to duty by a city or even a state. Adrian only knew about them because he researched their insignia after he began to recognized it every time the mayor appeared jittery on T.V. The information on them was always buried deep in the search results and the rest was usually heavily classified. Adrian wasn't even sure if they answered to the president, although he suspected that they did. All he knew is that they were always heavily armed, they were never spoken about and whatever they were; their presence made important people sweat.
Tonight was different. It was the first night of spring break. No homework, no school and a senior party to celebrate the last spring break of their lives. Adrian usually avoided social groups but this was his last spring break ever, so he decided to participate despite his introvert nature.
Adrian was tall, 6'3", turning 18 at the end of the month and graduating two months after, despite his report card. It wasn't that Adrian was a bad student... well, it was. But it wasn't because of his intelligence that resulted in his bad grades. He was smart. VERY smart.
At a young age Adrian learned that people often would make friends with other people so they could use them. People would ask for favors, copy his homework and then forget about him until they needed another favor. The same people who used him make fun of him for being mixed. These were the same people who made him feel different and isolated. He hated those kinds of people and so, if he made himself 'unuseful'. Then, eventually, they would go to someone else to use and forget all about him. Fading from the spotlight became a survival technique and as he got older, it became a part of him. He never turned in any homework unless he could copy someone's work. He barely participated in class activities but... he'd ace every test. Tests were something he could groan and gripe about as he shoved the score into his bag and then relish in the grade in the privacy of home and show his mom.
Adrian's lowest score? It was a 99. The teacher marked him for grammar. It was on a math test. Another teacher accused him of cheating on her tests. When the end of the year came, she took him down to the principals office expecting to lecture him about integrity and present papers to sign about repeating a grade. When the principal confronted Adrian about not doing his work, he opened his back pack and showed them every homework from the entire year filed and completed. When the principal asked him why he didn't turn in the assignments, he simply shrugged and said "I passed every test which proves that I learned the material. Why does the rest matter?" The principal was a nice man but more importantly, he was a wise man. He made Adrian a deal that if he talked to and continued to see the school psychologist, he would not make him repeat a grade. Adrian agreed with a shrug.
The psychologist was Kasey Brown, a nice lady but Adrian could tell that she was working here for some experience to get a better job. High school wasn't her passion. She may not have been the greatest psychologist but she talked with Adrian. She understood his motives and cared enough to learn his strengths and his gifts. One session she had him take an aptitude test. Just like all test, he scored exceptionally high in all of the subjects. One thing stood out to Kasey more than any other part of the test. Adrian had an affinity for angles. A gift for trajectory and motion. She urged him to take AP physics in his senior year and he actually loved it. Getting him into physics was good but the best thing that Kasey ever did for him was convince him to do was join the basketball team.
On the court, Adrian was king. Talent, real talent was something that no one could take from him or copy off him. Despite his previous unpopularity, Adrian quickly became a rising star. His competitive nature and his unique outlook of the world made him an excellent shooting guard and his height makes him an even better center. Having the most points, blocks and rebounds on his team nearly every game, Adrian often got lost in competition. He was a sore loser but his team rarely lost.
Forcing other teams to double defend Adrian in games allowed his teammates the opportunity for plays that they normally wouldn't be able to pull off. For the first time in a long time he felt good about who he was. If he made shot after shot outside the three point line, it was "because of his white father" they'd say. Layups and dunks, his darker side got credit for the jumps and the speed. Basketball was release. Basketball was taking off a heavy weight he had held over himself for years.

Tonight, because his team begged him to come out. Tonight, he was going to celebrate and finally be himself.

Adrian knew that tonight was going to be different and that things were going to change. What he didn't know was that everything about tonight was going to change his life forever.

Is Dissonance still active?
