In response to the new attacks that began launching, Axel simply says "Intercept and dodge"

Still maintaining it's forward charge, Chu swings it's Kusarigama in a wide arc. The Effigy's of fear, as soon as the were 10 feet from Chu, would be sliced through and stopped by his blades. This would cause them to explode if the Kusarigama hit.

His opponent was attempting battlefield control by production of Nox Aeterna. A highly effective strategy and would probably win them the fight due to their communication advantage. He would have to end the battle quickly to win.
"Avoid right, charge!" Shouted Axel in response to Sagralia firing it's attack.

Chu would roll quickly to the right, repositioning itself 3 feet from it's original spot, and begin charging the Sagralia. Both Kusarigama's would be swung in circle patterns at Chu's sides, allowing momentum to be built up before it ever reached Sagralia. This would also allow it to quickly intercept attacks of the physical nature rather quickly. Chu was rather fast and could cover the distance quite quickly.

"They must have a Psychic connection." Thought Axel as Sagralia attacked with no direct command given. He was all too aware of its effectiveness because of Yosoku. It would make this battle much more difficult due to him having to shout commands vs. Itsuki merely thinking them. In order to win, he would have to predict his opponent and stay several steps ahead.
"I'll take your Sagralia. Your skill in magic is of no concern to me, I merely wish to train my natrelmon. Your conditions sound fair though and I agree to them." replied Axel with a smile and a wink.

Axel takes his place on the pillar opposite of Itsuki and faces his opponents. Chu stands 10 feet in front of Axel, between 24-25 feet away from Sagralia, and takes a fighting stance. Chu had pulled out his Kusarigama as he was positioning, the chains dangling slightly. The sun was directly overhead, creating little to no shadows. The light gleamed from Chu's blades.

"I'll allow you the privilege of starting."
"Would you care for a battle? If only for a warm up for the Arena master? It has been quite a while since I've fought using my Natremon. I usually use my own steel. How about no trainer involvement outside of commanding our natrelmon?"

These seemed acceptable terms for Axel, as he only wished to train his Natrelmon, and not really participate himself. Chu is released and and eyeballs Itsuki bbefore turning to Axel, awaiting a command.
Realizing that the Arena was behind him, Axel couldn't help but chuckle. What a silly question.

"Thank you, and yes I am. The name is Axel Wulf. And yours?" he asked, offering his hand
Having hired employees to excavate the site near Relin, Axel started on his first step to completing his rites. Toran, being the location of the first Arena master, was the obvious destination. With a simple word, he Teleported to Toran's square.

Upon his arrival, the first thing he noticed was the massive temperature difference. Quickly shedding his cloak, Axel took in the sights. The city had seen some hardship and was on its way to being rebuilt. Word had reached him of an attack a little over a month ago on the normally peaceful city and how several heroes defended it. The fight must have been vicious to have caused so much damage.

Axel noticed he had no idea where the Arena was. He spots a man sitting in the square. Axel simply walks up and asked, "Excuse me, could you point me towards the Arena?"
It'd been three years since the end of the East-West Wars, brought on by the West's frustration with a lack of representation in the political games of Lifan. Victory was almost assured for the East, boasting not only the center of magical learning, but a populace far outstripping that of the West. The war was brief, in the eyes of the few Immortals, spanning only two years and ending in the three month Siege of Ward. While Ward continues to boast no enemy force has breached its walls, it is no longer done so with the gusto of old - Ward knew that once it fell, the rest of the West would fall and with time being their enemy, the West had no choice but to capitulate to the East's demands.

Strangely enough, the peace reached was largely palatable for both sides. The West gained increased representation in the centeral government. For the east, they gained trade treaties largely benefiting their causes, allowing the East to import and export an increased amount of goods. It also gave Lifan authority over the Arenas of the West, something formerly run by the cities themselves.

It was in this world the young were released, both sides making an effort to return to the traditions of old. Most trainers had put off their travels until the end of the War, some, braver than others, made efforts to complete the Eastern edge of their Rites.
The intro doesn't exactly quite answer the question; what is Natrelmon?

Well, as the name suggestions, it is a creature capture type thread set in a fictional world. This roleplay has spanned a number of incarnations and has been run on and off over the course of seven years. It is an expansive world with over one hundred original creatures for trainers to capture, each with different, unique innate abilities. However, unlike many traditional creature capture threads (Pokemon) this is much darker, as well as involving the trainers themselves directly in the combat - either as long range mage types, or the bold (and rare few) that choose to engage at close range.

The setting is slightly more advanced than modern times in terms of technology with a highly interconnected society. Arms development has been largely unnecessary so most use bladed weapons and their Natrelmon for any form of combat between each other.

---- Character Bio ----

Name: Axel Wulf
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Hometown: Ward
Starting Natrelmon: Chu, Sakura

Appearance : 6'3", 200 lbs

Tall and toned, with abnormally large biceps and shoulders. Brown wavy hair, between 5-6 inches long, is usual swept to the side and out of his eyes. Sometimes wears a predominantly white cloak with 3 thin grey stripes running down the back, the cloak of his old group. The hood is usually pulled up and the collar normally covering his face up to the eyes, which are a grey/blue.

He usually wears his black dress coat and pants over his white shirt. The coat is the tight fitting sort. The buttons on his shirt are undone about halfway. Around his waist is a skewed black sword belt with a sheathed sword and several daggers. The sword and daggers were nothing spectacular, merely instruments of his trade.

Relic Description : His relic is an ornate arm band composed of several different metals depicting all four legendaries, imitating their cardinal directions. Set in each legendary are several stones, usually depicting eyes. The colors change depending on what Natrelmon is out.

History: He's quick with his blade, and quicker with his tongue. Wielding the toned body of a trained swordsman, and the knowledge of a powerful mage, there are few things that can shake his confidence. With over developed arms and shoulders from apprenticing as a blacksmith before the great war, it allowed him a much faster swing and more powerful blows then your average swordsman. Apprenticing as a blacksmith was not due to financial struggles, as he comes from a wealthy military family. He decided he'd like to spread his roots, meaning in this case, add to his many talents. Having been involved in armed and unarmed combat training since he was a child and already an excellent mage thanks to Archmage Adler, he decided it was time to learn more practical arts.

When the war started, Axel joined the military and was immediately promoted to an officer due to family ties. Brashness and youth caused him to abandon his post on a tip off about enemy movements from a spy. Although he succeeded in routing an enemy force, the loss of his comrades was great. He was dishonored and demoted to a private. He was strangely happy about this as he reveled in his swordplay, a talent that was unused as an officer. This is not to say he didn't feel remorse for the loss of the soldiers who were under his command, yet he simply classified it mentally as "Casualties of war".

Being able to classify things in such a way doesn't mean he doesn't care. He simply recognizes that some things are out of his control. A long standing trait he inherited from his father.

Stripped of rank, Axel was sent on many scouting missions. A position he was well suited for due to his gift of Astral Projection. It allowed him to find enemy positions without ever having to get close to them. It unfortunately, also left him very open. Thankfully, his natrelmon, never allowed harm to come to him. Nero and Gotrek(Chu and Yosoku), one extremely fast and deadly with a blade, the other a massive brute. Together they made a devastating pair that could outmatch almost any foe.

The war ended, and many lives had been taken by Axel's blade and spells. There was still fighting to be done though. He joined a mercenary group named Byakko's Fangs. They were hired by wealthy families to stop raiding and attacks by rag tag bands of soldiers who were not pleased with the ending of the war. several years past, and Axel left the group and decided to complete the rites and further his training.

Professions: Mage, Tracker, Scholar

Noteworthy Skills: Trained Swordsman, Expert tracker, Blacksmithing, Over-average knowledge of Magic,
Just about to teleport away, Axel had an epiphany. Maybe he wasn't taking this treasure hunt literal enough. Maybe, whatever it was that is mentioned in the book is under ground. The only problem was the permafrost. It would be too hard to attempt to dig normally, but maybe he could use magic to melt it away. After all, his electromancy generated heat.

Not wasting a second, Axel begins to zap areas around the spot the coordinates took him to. With a simple command, Chu and Yosoku begin to dig, stopping only when the ground needed to be thawed by Axel's magic. He would teleport his away only when it became absolutely unbearable, and then would come back and repeat the next day. It would be alot of work, but Axel hoped it would uncover whatever the journal's owner had discovered.
His searches proving fruitless, Axel makes one last attempt before retiring to Relin to do more research. He inscribes the inscription and symbols into the ground, hoping it might have some sort of effect or give some clue as to what was found here or why this area was so important.

Making sure that every detail was correct, Axel finishes the inscription. The cold was almost too much to bear, and if this proved to fail he will Telepor to Relin and check into a hotel to warm himself and read the journal more.
