Today I reached the conclusion that, if presented with an exact duplicate of herself, one of my characters would DEFINITELY hit that.

I just posted a link to an activity board, for now it is mostly blank but gives you an idea of what will be available during free activity rounds once things get rolling. If you have ideas for more stores to add to the shopping district, feel free to post a rough idea.
Clerk: Oluja Bogden Type: dust, weapons, and equipment A wide open room, all black and metallic surfaces. Two cases of dust in various forms flank the show floor with racks and display stands of weapon parts and equipment littering the space. The walls are lined with weapons of every shape and size. At the counter opposite the narrow door is a tall well dressed man with dark hair, and sparks can be seen on the table as he works on some bit of machinery.
Clerk: Azalea Type: Clothing and armor A large, rectangular room outlined by shelves and racks of pre-made clothing, the far end of the store is comprised of several fitting rooms while a rectangular station at the heart of the store hosts a register tended by a short girl with rich pink hair and dark green eyes. Several mannequins sporting examples of hunter’s armor and clothing are scattered around the store. A computer terminal by the cashier stand allows customers to browse a full catalog and place custom orders. At the front of the shop are windows with holographic displays showing new additions to their inventory.
Clerk: Sylvia Waldgrun-Ectaris Type: baked goods (role-playing location) Small bakery, a few tables with comfortable chairs sit in the front of the shop., a large case of sweets dominates the wall opposite the door. To the left of the large case is a sales counter manned by a diminutively sized woman with mouse ears, behind her is the doorway to the kitchen where two employees can be seen working. Opposite the register is a refrigerated beverage case and a freestanding coffee machine.
Clerk: Spinel Type: fiction and non-fiction books (roleplaying location) A small bookstore, boasting its collection of hard to find books, and a willingness to get in anything you are after. Neatly shelved and brightly lit, it is split evenly down the middle into Fiction and Non-Fiction with the clerk station almost right beside the front door, manned by a young man with reddish-purple eyes and deep blue hair. A small door is tucked away in the back of the store, leading to the employees only area.
Sherry’s Diner Barista/Cashier: Erica Waitstaff: Oleander Chef: Sanguine Type: Restaurant (roleplaying location) A family friendly restaurant, decorated in tones of warm browns and oranges, with both dining tables and booths scattered around the floor. The atmosphere is cozy, and the booths have a feeling of privacy around them. The coffee bar/register is manned by a woman with deep purple hair and dark blue eyes, the main waitstaff is a young man with pale blond hair and reddish purple eyes, and a window into the kitchens behind the coffee bar reveals a male chef with very dark red hair and hazel eyes.
Each fight will be taken in turns. First to move is decided using the Speed stat of the character; please note that a more experienced character will naturally be faster, even both character have the same score. This is because the scores are based upon their age and experience. For reference, Character A has 2 years experience over Character B. A has speed 2, while B has speed 3. They move simultaneously. Character C has 4 years experience over Character B. Character C has speed 1, Character B has speed 3. They move simultaneously. Character B has 2 years experience over Character E. Character B has speed 3, Character E has speed 3. Character B moves first. Each turn will constitute of one movement/attacking action taking up to 3 seconds to complete, and one speech action taking up to 5 seconds. Speeches can run over the course of multiple turns, but must be agreed upon by all fighters. Anyone can interrupt a longer speech when it is their turn.
These rules are to make sure that fights against people are actually fair, everyone gets a go, and we don’t end up with long paragraphs dictating one person actions for the entire fight while everyone else just kind of stands around watching them.

3)Characteristics Background: Born into a middle class family, Lan was an inquisitive child, always getting into trouble while trying to learn everything possible. She avoided civilian school and instead went through hobbies like clockwork, teaching herself lockpicking and pickpocketing from hanging out with the street kids during school hours. Her father taught her gardening in an attempt to keep her out of trouble, starting her collection of plants off when she was eight years old. The activity helped a little bit, as she would slow down to take care of the plants properly, but she still spent most of her time racing around from interest to interest, never seeming to have enough time.
Lan’s parents enrolled her in combat school when she turned thirteen, hoping the discipline gained through that would help with her lack of self control and make her less hyperactive. This plan backfired however, when her Aura was unlocked by a teacher and her Semblance kicked in. She suddenly found herself with all that extra time in the day she used to wish she had as a child. Lan began to go through her hobbies at an even faster pace, and the lack of ways to pass time resulted in Lan acting out even further until the teacher that had unlocked her aura, a Professor at Signal by the name of Rost Smith, sat her down for some personal advice. Under his advice, she started taking her hobbies a bit slower, working through them methodically instead of rushing. As a result of this more methodical approach to life, she has accumulated quite a number of interesting skills, including cooking, sewing, field medicine and basic mechanics (useful for maintaining weapons).
When she finally graduated from Signal a slightly less rushed person, Her parents were somewhat grateful, though disappointed in how her semblance had affected her life. When Lan’s parents started talking about having her rejoin the civilian lifestyle, she refused. Having spent enough time training as a huntress to prefer the continuation of that path in life. Her parents disapproved, and the conflict has caused them to become estranged as a result of her enrollment at Beacon Academy.
Personality: Somewhat odd, Lan is very air headed and has a tendency of daydreaming or losing her train of thought at poor times, such as in class or during a fight. Years of training around this habit mean she is still capable of continuing a fight by forcibly suppressing the part of her mind that tends to wander, however this technique does not always work as well as it could. She is among those who do not understand the point of the White Fang as she personally has never met with any of the supposed discrimination that occurs. Fairly open when it comes to most subjects, she is usually willing to talk with people about anything. Has an extremely strong crush on one of her teachers from Signal Academy. 3) Characteristics:
Background: Being a hunter is considered by most to be an honor. To fight for humanity, protect lives and save the future at the cost of their own safety, but being a hunter was not the kind of responsibility that should be asked of a child. Berry was taught the ways of the hunter and not much else for a good portion of his youth, and once the thought that this might not be the path he wants in life hit him, he did not take it well. He still listened to his parents and followed their orders, as he did not wish to disappoint them, but only ever did the bare minimum to satisfy their request and nothing more. Distraught and not understanding why their son was turning this way, they figured out that maybe they simply weren’t the best of teachers. A quick talk with Ozpin found Berry at Beacon, more unsure than ever what he wants with his life, but also a little hopeful that he can find an answer here to the question that’s been bugging him since forever “Do I want to be a Hunter?” Personality: Berry is extremely non confrontational when it comes to interacting with people, shutting up and letting others talk even when disagreeing with something. With that said though there is a sure fire way to get him into a fistfight, touching his stuff. He’s mildly materialistic, being very possessive of his weapon and necklace, the first things he felt belonged to him as opposed to his family; and not only does he keep them on him nearly at all times, he also gets very nervous when he has to leave them behind. He doesn’t like to listen to others opinions on experiences however, preferring instead to try it for himself and make his own opinion. He is always willing to try something new, though more for the experience than any sort of adrenaline rush. Likes: stuff he made or bought, non lethal competitions, people his own age; Dislikes: people older than him, legacies, ass kissers.
4) Weapon Name: Serpent’s Horns Maker/Smith: Himself Type: Bladed Kite Shield Gauntlet Weapon Derivation: Tear shaped kite shield and wrist blades Holstered/Sheathed Appearance: An oversized archer's gauntlet that covers the user’s right hand up to the elbow. On the underside of the wrist, you can see the grip of a sword sheathed inside it. Subweapon: The sword itself looks like a shorter segmented gladius, whose blade collapses when sheathed as to not impair wrist movement. Form 1: The top side of the wrist also contains a very thick collapsible blade that stays attached to the gauntlet. If more protection becomes necessary the blade can split and turn over a 90 degree angle in order to become Form 2: A tear shaped Kite shield with a sharp point.
Planned/Possible Upgrades: modify the grip of the shortsword to hold dust...not for the sword, but for the user; Notes: Name is a play on the concept that most horned serpents tend to be called dragons. It also references the fact the weapon contains 2 blades. 5) Semblance:
Name: Breath Type: Physical; Purpose: Utility; Short description: Users are able to compress and contain large quantities of air within their lungs. Visual effect: The users aura is visibly inhaled along with the air; Range: Personal; Passive ability: Users have a strong pair of lungs, resistant to pressure and temperature changes; Active ability(1): Inhales a large quantity of air; allows users to stay underwater for large periods of time. This ability can be used semi-offensively by kissing another target and drawing the air out of their lungs in order to choke them; Active ability(2): Exhales the accumulated air as a current; it has enough force to knock back enemies that are in melee range a few feet away; Active ability(3): Exhales the accumulated air all at once as a compressed ball that explodes on impact. Has less knockback and area of effect, but deals damage and has longer reach than the second ability; Dust interaction (Fire): Allows users to breathe a concentrated stream of fire, using the air inside their lungs to increase the heat; Dust interaction (Water): Allows users to breathe a concentrated stream of water; has enough force to punch holes through rock; Dust interaction (Ice): Allows users to breathe a current of arctic temperatures, effectively freezing anything in its path to sub zero temperatures; Limitations: Despite the semblance, the amount of air that can be inhaled is still limited. In addition, a solid punch to the gut can prevent users from doing anything fancy with the air they inhaled; Notes: Semblance was inspired by fire breathing dragons.

When he has to fight with a team he uses the shield form of the weapon, both in order to protect his ally and because he can’t make long swings without potentially causing friendly fire. Uses semblances to avoid getting overwhelmed, as he has little in terms of AOE presence.

Personality: Russ can be outgoing and friendly, quiet and reserved, whatever is necessary for the time at hand. When at rest, she has a habit of sizing people up like living blueprints, looking for flaws and weaknesses, even if she has no intention of abusing them. She’ll casually lie in conversation every now and then, more as a hobby than as a means to an end, and isn’t the type to keep secrets to herself if it’ll benefit her. Under the dishonor there is loyalty however, usually garnered through respect, as well as a living if not crippled sense of morality. Russ might steal from a dying man, but she’s not about to burn down an orphanage for a profit. Name: Blink Wielder: Rori Russette Type: Launch-Drawn-Dust-Blade Short Description: Blink is a Darb with an arm-length blade and a black leather-bound handle. Sheath designed to charge the blade with dust as well as launch it at high speeds. <weapon technicalities> Form 1: Darb with a 25” blade housed in a sheath modified to charge the blade with dust and launch it for quick draws. The sheath is narrow and rectangular, being identical in diameter and material to the hilt, and approximately one inch longer than the sword itself. Holstered/Sheathed Appearance: sheathed normally Features/Capabilities: Bink currently uses lava dust to superheat the blade, and wind dust to launch it from the sheathe. Dust can be charged longer for more power or a faster draw, but if overcharged can backfire or escape the user’s grasp. Usage: Russ primarily uses Blink to strike critically at key moments. While the blade is standard and can be used normally to the skill of the wielder, it is best if drawn conservatively and when its superheated, fast strikes will cause the most damage. 5) Semblance:
Name: Speed Vault Type: Physical General description: The storing and redistributing of force generated by momentum General limitations: Not meant to be used offensively, if Russ hits someone with a high-momentum punch, she’s going to feel it just as much as they do. Cannot redirect the momentum of heavy projectiles. Visual effect: The color fades from her eyes entirely during the duration of its use. Passive ability: Russ has a keen sense of balance from years of possessing the ability. Active ability: While active, Russ passively stores the force from her movements and from things she touches that are in motion. Upon usage, she redirects the force in order to quickly change directions, slow down and speed up.
6) Combat info:
Position/Class: Skirmisher Landing strategy: Redirects her momentum to soften the landing before impact. Fighting style: Fast paced and tactical, Russ prefers cutting an enemy a thousand times safely over a risky all-or-nothing attack. She dodges more than she blocks, and her attacks are usually slashes to sensitive areas, learned preferably prior to the fight, but if she has to do it on the spot, she can adapt.
7) Trivia: Has gone by “Russ” as long as she can remember, not fond of using her first name.
We recently redesigned the template for the OC thread over on the wiki and I'm considering updating the one here to that model, would give everyone a chance to do some additional proofreading and editing for consistency with their character designs, such as tweaking personality to more closely resemble the character as they are being played. Actually updating your character would be optional, as the information is all the same, just presented in a more streamlined fashion.
