“The trial did not go well.”The statement gave Glynda pause, and she looked up from her work to stare at the Headmaster over the rim of her glasses. She clarified,
“Miss Blerta’s?”“Indeed.” The aging man steepled his fingers and gazed at the scroll lying on the table in front of him.
“The jury worked fast; all evidence pointed to her and so they have convicted Tierra Blerta with Manslaughter.”“Pity.” Glynda glanced away, taking a moment to clear away the disappointment she felt at another potential student wasting away in prison. She’d probably never be trusted as a Huntress, even if the teen reapplied to an academy after she was released.
“I suppose we’re bringing in a student from somewhere else then?”“I have the list in front of me.” Ozpin confirmed, and with a flick of his fingers it was mirrored on Glynda’s scroll.
“Are there any students with names that start with T? I’d prefer not to have to change CLRT’s team name if it can be avoided.”“Not that I can…” Glynda trailed off, glancing over one of the profiles.
“There is a boy from Atlas whose middle name starts with T. His scoring in Initiation was well enough that he may fit on the team nicely.”“Another student with a middle name?” Ozpin murmured,
“At this rate the entire acronym will be made from them.”He was of course referring to Viola Marsilea, whose middle name Lis had been used for the L in CLRT.
“We could see if there are other students with a name that fits? Perhaps from Vacuo?” Glynda suggested.
“We’ll see what his file says first, before we pass over him.” the Headmaster stated,
“What was his last name?”“Plagas.” the blonde witch told him, already halfway through reading the profile.
“Basil Trista Plagas. Crow Faunus, his trait is his eyes, average height and seems fairly average in his physical skills, though his aural skills have high marks. He also has training in medicine.”“That would give their team a medic to go along with the frontline fighter, Dust user and midline fighter CLRT currently has.” Ozpin mused,
“Which is a good balance. Shall we contact James and ask for his input?”Glynda tried to hide her scowl from her employer, but doubted she had succeeded.
“If we must.””Now, Glynda, we mustn’t let our personal feelings get in the way of ensuring our students receive quality education.” the Headmaster chided, and she knew he had seen her scowl. He didn’t wait for a reply however, pressing a few buttons on his desk and opening a holographic interface in front of him. The communication program rung for a few moments, until the call was accepted on the other end.
“Greetings, James.”The Atlesian Headmaster noted the caller with surprise, and raised an eyebrow at his contemporary,
”Ozpin, this is a surprise. Might I ask what you are calling for?”The aged Headmaster of Beacon sighed,
“We are short a student, I’m afraid. One of our new students had had some legal troubles catch up with her just after Initiation, and we were forced to expel her. We have looked through the profiles from other schools, and believe one of yours is a good fit.”“This is why in depth background searches are conducted at Atlas,” Ironwood remarked, glancing off to one side for a moment to look at something on his end of the channel. He turned back to Ozpin after nodding to someone, who’s voice was nothing more than a low murmur to Ozpin and Glynda.
“Pity though; Beacon was lucky to have a multiple of four this year. Which student are you referring to?”“One Basil Plagas,” Was the reply,
“After going over strays from the other academies, I have determined he will be most beneficial to this particular team.”“I think that can be arranged.” The military man nodded, looking at something on another screen.
“When do you need him?”“As soon as you are able to send him. The other members are currently in limbo, as they can’t exactly participate in team exercises while down a member, and I would like to get them back to capacity within the week, should it be possible.” Ozpin explained. The Atlas Headmaster nodded in acceptance.
“Very well then. I’ll arrange a transport and an escort immediately, and he should arrive within a fortnight. Will that be all, Ozpin?”“Yes, James. Thank you.” James nodded in response to Ozpin and didn’t bother with saying goodbyes, instead cutting the communications immediately. Ozpin leant back in his chair, regarding his younger colleague.
“There we are, all sorted.”
