Aeris de' Medici

Past few weeks...

Aeries de' Medici was a woman who once had to carry the weight of her bloodline on her shoulders, but with the maturation of the next heir in line to inherit her position, she had already removed her magic crest. The act removed the superficial boosts to her magical capabilities, but the knowledge she had over the years were retained and was more than enough to overcome even an ordinary magus in most cases and with preparation, even superior ones.

As someone who received the permission of the Holy Church to aid their cause, there was no assistance needed from the Mage's Association and whatever method they were planning to use to interfere with the process of the Counter Force. While hearing of their idea, she took the time to develop her own ritual of contracting a spirit of humanity, taking on weeks of preparation for the task that resulted in her being one of the last to finally join the effort. It should still be considered a praiseworthy feat of accomplishing such a task, with the assistance of her family working behind the idea to make it a reality. The process was a bit rushed with the time given to them, it was with all of their effort, it was the first realized project for the new heir of the Medici.

The location that she set up was in Ireland, a place rich with leylines yet popular for tourism, it would still be suitable place to set up a temporary workshop for such a complicated ritual that required resources. She had cleared up a cabin within the woods, having 'rented' it out from its owners for a while and setting up a bounded field to hide it away from prying eyes. Being a comfortable place to stay for the weeks she was developing her ritual, with the basement it possessed was a great area to set everything up.

Perhaps the spirit knew or perhaps it didn't, but Aeris had already set up her precautions as someone who was meddling with the force's of the world. Confident in the theory and logic behind her ritual, it was sound on paper but its actual practical application meant that not everything would follow to her expectations on the very first try. But then again, she would only have one chance...

Several bounded fields on the level of High-Thaumaturgy was set in place around the ritual area, segregating the metaphysical boundaries of space to prevent physical and spiritual bodies from passing through. They were the last things to be set up as the magi community around Ireland would no doubt take notice of the magical fluctuations on their spiritual lands.

But before they could do anything, she would be done and over with it...

" Through our consciousness as humanity, I call upon this contract... "

" For your essence, it shall be made from wisdom and reason... "
" For your anchor, it shall be made from faith and virtue... "
" For your ritual, it shall be made from wisdom and knowledge... "

" Seal the contract that is the Consciousness of Human Order. "

The execution of the ritual was certainly an impressive one as it began collecting magical energy, pulling from the ground as it pulsed underneath her feet, collecting from the air as it became coalesced into a dense mist, and flaring within her own circuits as she continued.

The magic circle that served as the foundation of the ritual glowed a pale blue as it steadily grew brighter and brighter upon speaking the words. Surging with energy as each phrase was said and each meaning was conveyed, it hummed with potential near the end of her chant before it was releasing like a flood gate. Being a wave of energy that came forth from the ritual as it completed itself and calling a figure from the Throne of Heroes like originally planned, but with a modification...

With the completion of ritual, it resulted in Aeris catching her breath despite the reserves she originally had in place to mitigate the costs, having fell to knees momentarily for the effort she exerted. Her eyes wandered around the room for the sight of the individual that she called from the ritual, having no sight of them despite confirming the existence of the magic symbols on her hand and the contract she could feel bound to her.

But is seemed her investigation into the whereabouts her summoned Hero was thankfully cut short, listening to the disembodied voice as it spoke to her. She gave a small smile after listening to its words, finding their reaction interesting before speaking.

" I appreciate the concern you have over my being, while I did not think the stories to be true, you already act like someone who is considered to be a hero of humanity... "

She said, nodding to herself as if thinking the words over and agreeing with them. Being quite comedic of a response given, but it was hiding an underlying sense wariness. Offering her own diplomatic response in return to the individual.

" While I cannot offer any reconciliation for your past experiences, the only recourse that I can afford to give you is my good will. With your voice to reveal any displeasure or disagreement you have in the actions or ideas that I have, I believe we should be fine. "

Making a request after attempting to smooth over the other's concerns, recognizing the name that it was claiming to be. She bolstered her magical circuits as she fluctuated the magical energy within her body to prevent any malign effects that could be placed on herself. Unsure of the capabilities of the spirit, it was best to be safe after denying it's request of free itself.

" May I ask you to reveal yourself? I wish to know who I shall be working with for the duration this contract. "

A lively woman who has the appearance of someone in her mid-thirties, possessing blonde hair as if kissed by the sun and blue eyes cool as a pool of water. She stands up at a height of 5 feet and 6 inches which is quite average, blending into the crowd if not for the grace she carries with herself. A presence that surrounds her in a calm and pleasant tone, being beautiful in the moment as it endures on from being broken. When she speaks, it breaks the silence with a beautiful ring, having a lively nature to it that compliments her overall demeanor as if trained and practiced with experience.

The Medici are an old family that have been around for a millennia, having around ten generations worth of knowledge passed down with the family. To the mundane world, they were known as a family of bankers who once wielded significant power during The Renaissance as they provided to funds to keep the flame of inspiration burning as long they could. In modern times, the Medici family is no longer in existence with nobody claiming themselves as a living individual of the family.

This is due to their reputation in the world of Magi, with the family in its entirety receiving its death sentence in the form of a sealing designation placed on the entire family. Being an valiant effort that they put up in resisting the ruling but while surviving several generations, they fell into decline from the pressure placed on their family. As the generations produced heirs inferior than the last, it was only expected of the outcome that was inherited by their bloodline.

They as a family focused on things pertaining to 'reality' and 'metaphysics' as they sought to observe the fabric that made the universe. Undergoing research into bounded fields, reality marbles and so on, they tried to understand what constituted in creating the tapestry that they lived on. In the end, it resulted in them creating what humanity would know as 'The Renaissance' an event which was the first conscious attempt after the Age of Gods to achieve creating an Quantum Time-Lock. Being an existence where the course of human history has been locked into place by events which are immovable and impervious to outside interference from the past and future.

While an impressive feat, it is something that cannot be considered akin to 'True Magic' as while it may be parallel to it on scale and have traces of the Second Magic within its theory. It exists as something being achievable within the very cusp of human wisdom yet outside their realm or authority, being the distillation of 'Magecraft' into its purest form that ultimately equals 'True Magecraft'.

Perhaps it can also be considered to be ultimately superior as even the Second Magic or Kaleidoscope cannot even overwrite such an event when already in place, having to simply navigate to a universe where such an event is too weak to become a solid phenomenon. But then again, the Fifth Magic would be able of overwriting a Quantum Time-Lock but that is a discussion with its own disastrous conversation.

It in the end though placed the Medici Bloodline into the sights of the Mage's Association, seeing them as too powerful for an outside party, they sent out relentless amount of enforcers in response to shut them down. With the resources to last a time, the Medici family were individuals who lacked the general offensive or defensive capabilities of magi families. Focusing themselves in pursuit of the esoteric, they left themselves quite vulnerable in their dedication that resulted in their eventual 'extinction'.

They moved themselves underground and have remained in the shadows as they watched the world with their keen eyes until a second calling came. Involving themselves with the shady underbelly of the Magus World as they operated as collectors, hunters, and informants as their specialty. Giving them the freedom to hunt down the remaining pieces of mysteries that were quickly fading away from the world to observe them. Surrounding themselves in the depths of mystery before they disappeared from the world, leaving their presence feeling 'different' like most renown magi. Leaving them several steps away from the mundane magi as the most adventurous Medici have retained some of their youth as they aged quite gracefully.

As when the news came between the dealings between the Holy Church and the Mage's association, they placed their former head of the family, Aeris, onto the chess board as another piece to enter the fray. Being only a matter of time before interested parties would get involved and even then, the Medici's have always had ties within the church, preparing themselves once they saw that the Church found the task at hand a recognizable threat.

What one could call the 'Sorcery Trait' of the Medici family is known as [Foundation] gives them the capacity to conduct miracles if they commit time and resources into it. Essentially bringing possibilities closer into the realm of achieving or birthing the spark of possibility into the impossible if they do not exist. Being essentially a metaphysical bonus towards luck in achieving something that is added in addition towards efforts already made to achieving it. Although achieving the masterpiece of what her family had accomplished in the past is near impossible now, it would be a great undertaking that would probably face resistance.

Outside of the gifts that she received from her family, Aeris possesses a pair of Mystic Eyes with the effect of [Affirmation] bestowed upon them. Activating them imposes the effect that prevents the degradation of something, consuming magical energy in accordance to how powerful she wishes to manifest it and how abstract the object she is trying to affect it. While easy to train them on a mundane object and prolong its existence, focusing these eyes on magical phenomenon is more difficult as to sustain or even empower the mystery operating behind it is more tedious. One can liken this to Conceptual Reinforcement.

After these special traits that Aeris possess, her skill as a magus are the top of her family's capabilities which is in all honestly unimpressive as they fall to be simply above average. Being quite disgraceful for a family of their age to be at that level with their magecraft, some praise thought should be given for them developing their abilities to defend themselves. Having taken the time, they've managed to close the gap in their ability to defend themselves instead of having to rely on others like they did in the past.

By their nature, they as a family focus on the field of bounded fields, having once only focused on the utility of their properties that left them having researched and developing weird or specific effects within their repertoire of spells. They have refined the qualities of their bounded fields to be more suited for their purposes when called for, being quite knowledgeable and competent in this one field.

She gave a smile towards the warrior, a presence that was greatly appreciated even if they did smell a bit like toad, before steadying herself on her feet as she looked around the field. Quickly accessing each individual in their party as she gauged who needed her assistance the most, already having a good idea beforehand who needed it but now confirmed.

"Yes I am, thank you for the concern! What an impressive display you gave everyone, I would love to talk about it some more but..."

She said warmly before requesting,

"Can you bring me to our Blade Dancer?"

Taking a sharp breath as she motioned her hand over to Muu and then everyone else in general. Nodding towards the hunter as she acknowledge and took her observation before verifying it with her own, for having the same findings didn't hurt.

"I will give everyone a look over but I believe she deserves our concerns the most right now. "

Taking a deep breath and exhaling it out, she thought over the fight as she felt that a good serving of motivation and congratulations was deserved for everyone. Even if they did not feel like they deserved it, the situation currently right now was more like they needed it, being something that would rally them up for the road ahead.

For the method of polishing the three greenhorns didn't matter, as whether they took on the easier ones bounties first and helped refine their skills or overcoming a trial like this one, it all would keep them ready for the next few bounties on their list and so long as they grew properly, it was all good.

Standing there among the many guests that were invited to this meeting, he was part of the group of individuals who were unassuming and quite dull, having that common face typical for a noble as they talked among themselves. Listening to the voice and wisdom of the people in the room as they discussed their opinions on the matter, trading banter with each other as they took in the information given to them. A front that made Alexander as unassuming one could be to the other knights, but in truth his ears and eyes were focused on much more than just the surface.

Feeling the mood of the room as it shifted its with the slightest disturbance, with intricate pieces working behind the scenes and others that were blatantly obvious. For the whispering of the Isparians was something he understood, while annoying to crack open the dictionary, he was well versed in a variety of languages. Taking note of their conversation as he kept his own personal thoughts hidden, he wondered if the knights were attempting to be disrespectful, for the contents of their discussion was another matter. Mentally shaking his head as their assumption that the individuals around them wouldn't speak the same tongue was quite a brazen one, leaving him with the thought if the two knights knew each other from somewhere else...

But his own thoughts were proven correct, their assumptions were indeed a careless one as the young prince spoke his mind, Alexander himself noted his and demeanor as he refrained from entering the conversation until the right moment... Finding his opportunity to voice his support for the young prince, being a sound plan that he put onto the table, being quite ideal in his mind for being flexible should the need arise.

Announcing his presence when he spoke, "I agree with the young prince, to even think about trying to defeat the dragon with the strength that we currently possess or could try to muster would be an unfeasible task."

Nodding in agreement as if thinking over his own words before continuing...

"The plan for gathering more information is ideal for our current situation, as for where we current stand is quite disappointing for the lack of knowledge we currently have on the situation. Even if the opportunity for us to do diplomacy are few in number, to have more options for us to take is preferable."

Thank you for taking the time to read it! I like to tumble around with the universe of Fate despite how messy it can get, for that is part of the fun~

But in a sense, yes. I am planning to have her be an outside party that has gotten the approval of the Church to participate and assist the with situation, being a bonus if she is able to raise the status of her family or standing with the Mage's Association.

But her true goal for joining this is looking into the counter force, a mysterious force that only brings itself to the forefront once it deems humanity is in danger. It is a topic that she and her family would be interested in looking into. As if anything, you could summarize their path towards the root as a Magi family being 'understanding how the universe works' that will eventually lead them towards the truth of all things.

She grimaced in pain as she rose up to her feet, feeling her body ache as something must had broken inside of her from the force that had impacted her. Flying some distance ahead of the frog from the attack, it still placed her under immediate threat of being crushed by its massive weight although instead she was on her own now. Despite the faint smile that briefly showed on her face, she pushed aside the miscellaneous thoughts inside her head as they were irrelevant for the situation in hand.

To run or try to flee was probably a viable option had she been in her best condition, but even slightly moving herself shot pain through her torso. Wiping away the smile that briefly crossed her face as she winced, finding even breathing at the moment to be quite irritating as she muttered the words of a prayer.

" O Keeper of the Sun, Alri-Qua... "

Despite the rumbling of the toad as it approached closer and closer, she continued her prayer in confidence of not only herself but her god as well, continuing verse after verse until it completed. Staring down the frog as it came closer and closer, planning to make sure that she would be able to release the spell when she saw the optimal opportunity to.

" Keep the darkness at bay, Ward! "

She said steadily when the opening presented itself, summoning a shimmering screen of energy that was transparent in front of her, aiming to cover her position once again. But the only difference this time was the fact that it was sharply angled, aiming not to stop the whole force of the frog but instead be enough to have it bounce off with its momentum.
