Short range ballistic sandwich... rofl.

Sorry to hear about your rough night.

Side question. Does anyone else ever committed blasphemy and watch their anime dubbed? I prefer to watch with sub titles but you really need to pay close attention to read what's being said.

Last nighT I started SAO again but dubbed instead of subtitled so I could work at the same time. I have like five books I need to b finish so I was trying to work while I listened to the show.
Mai'lo eyed Matsuta. The man had ignored every bit of the comings and goings around him as if they hadn't existed or were beneath his notice. Then he suddenly breathed out a puff of black smoke and started chasing a butterfly around.

"Are we sure he's alright?" He asked, a little nervously. "Cause I'll be honest, he's kinda freaking me out."
New post is up. Sorry I was delayed gang. Real world sucks sometimes.
Mai'lo glanced at the little floating icon that was always in his view. His HP was completely full. He'd leveled up several times and split his points where he wanted to focus his strengths. If things went according to plan he should be an extremely formidable opponent soon.

A quick check of his inventory told him he was pottery well equipped already for his level and amount of funds that he had available.

"I'm pretty stocked up already, to be honest," he admitted. "I just need to equip my gear and I'll be good to go."

He swiped at the air in front of him and started equipping his armor. A blackened set of leather armor fit snug across his broad frame, simple but sturdy. His boots included a low AGI buff.

That should help some, at least, he thought. His hand hovered over a weapon in his inventory for a moment but he closed the window a moment later without touching it and leaned back against the nearest wall, arms crossed over his chest as he waited for the rest of their team.

"Any ideas where we should go first, Kip?" He asked. "I'm not familiar with the layout yet, beyond the fields outside of town."
Are we having fun yet? It's been interesting do far and I'm looking forward to where we end up. :)

Speaking of equipment and such though... will the GM be deciding what kind of armor and wrappings that we come across on our adventures?
The menu popped up and he quickly accepted the party invite, breathing an almost imperceptible sigh of relief. It was nice to have at least one ally in this world. And she was a beta tester! Sticking with her was a smart idea.

"I'm not sure," he admitted. "Part of me thinks we should stick around a bit, try to bolster or numbers. But a lot of serious players have probably already lit out of here. I read an interview with a supposed beta tester where they explained some monsters equipment and experience are first come first serve. So if we want the best chance we'll have to stay ahead of the pack, right?"

He glanced around, noting the blue fox girl and the man attempting to flirt with her nearby. Matsuta floated above his head and s moment later another girl, Iris, walked up and threw an arm around his shoulder.

"What about them?" Without waiting for a reply he turned and Wales over to the trio. "Hey, why don't we team up?" He asked, blunt as a club. "You want to build up your inventory then you'll need to adventure and you can't go it alone. If we all five sick together we could survive this."
Mai'lo gave Kip a once over and shifted his sword to his left hand, lifting it easily to rest on his shoulder before he extended the other to accept her offered hand in a firm shake.

"Yeah, less than amused is one way to describe how I feel about this whole thing. My name is Mai'lo, pleasure to meet you." He looked over the crowd, a simple enough process at his height. Many people were still in a state somewhere between shock and panic but there were a few that were either already leaving or were in the process of creating alliances.

Across the Plaza he was just able to make it a kid with a single one handed sword strapped to his back, running into the empty streets leading out of town.

"Don't suppose you're a beta tester or you've got any friends in here we could team up with, do you?" He asked Kip. "We should probably get out of here and start leveling up if we want to survive."
"You have got to be fucking kidding me," he muttered. He stood off to one side of the Plaza as people panicked around him, gibbering and chattering away after the gigantic vision of Kayaba vanished from the digital sky above.

The tip of the ridiculous sword he carried rested on the ground in front of him, arms crossed over the wide base as he considered the situation.

He had bought the game to play with his kids, their mother moved away and took the kids with her and this had been meant to be a way for them to spend time together and now he was going to lose even more time with them?

"God Dammit!" he roared and spun hard to his right, slamming a fist ineffectualy against the wall behind him.

He froze, breathing hard and fast for a moment before he reigned in his temper and started looking around. Solo players could survive in a game like SAO, but it was simpler and easier to work with a group. But could he trust anyone here to pull their own and not stab him in the back?

He needed to find someone to team with, and soon if he intended to survive.
The story was actually secondary to thinking it'd make a fun rp. But I'll look into this. I've been working on the outline of the series I intend to write and just hashing out how to mesh real world plots with game world plots and interactions.

Plus the game mechanics within the virtual world need to be simple enough but still thought out so I'm just building the world and the story. Haven't actually started writing it yet.
Character posted. Looking forward to the game. :)
