Upon entering the barn Kuro marks his brother's strange mood and gives the demon a sideways look. He grows slightly concerned when even Aoba's call does not seem to reach the smaller male but at the moment he deems the animal care a little more important than sussing out just why the already mildly mad little demon is acting even stranger. Unfortunately Aoba does not seem to agree and tries to reach out to Dani. The younger demon watches the sole focus of his current existence rise off the dusty barn floor and hover awkwardly at loft level. 'Well, this is strange. I know he loves scaring things, and Aoba can normally get him to do anything when he asks in that sweet voice of his. . . .'

Aoba comes back down, giving Kuro a look, and the demon can't help but sigh. 'He really is too sweet for his own good' Without hesitation he rises up to the loft, putting his wings away immediately lest Dani be in a scraping mood. However instead of a violent air Dani seems more confused and contemplative. Moving in close Kuro crouches down right behind the smaller male and huffs softly. “What's the matter Dani?” His voice is soft, but carries the same rough note he always addresses his siblings with. Dani seems to ignore him at first, the looks over his shoulder with a scowl and shakes his head, burying his face in his arms.

Dani doesn't want to think about anything right now, his mind and lack of heart far too mixed up and confused to make any sense of things. He still wants the angel. He still wants his toy. He wants it all, but, but. . . .With a growl he snaps at Kuro, “I'm hungry!”

Kuro knows he doesn't mean food. Thinking about it he realizes it's been over a week for the smaller male. It's been even longer for Kuro, and that's not a good thing. He will have to go out tonight and find someone, but for now, “Go ahead. Be back in an hour.” he murmurs, patting Dani on the shoulder.

The smaller demon growls but doesn't say anything, hopping off the edge of the loft and taking off out of the barn without looking back. It's not too sunny out, but what sun there is makes his flight less than pleasant. But at this point, he's just happy to have some time to himself.

Back in the barn Kuro hops down as well, landing beside the little angel with a soft strained smile on his lips. Gently he says, “He just needs some time to. . . Get his head straight.” He smiles a little wider, hoping Aoba will take the hint and not ask beyond that. While there is no shame, he still doesn't want the angel to sit and thing about the small innocent little Dani off killing and draining the soul from a human they may very well have talked to since they moved here. He knows, eventually, Dani will need to hunt further away from their house, in fact he may very well should already be doing that, but Kuro simply can not risk it at the moment. Motioning to the sheep pens he says quietly, “Shall we?”
Junjou may get picked on a bit, the style making things seem out of proportion on occasion :P

Nothin' wrong with being short. My twin's short and she's proud of it!(I'ma guy) She has fun playing taller male characters and Shota too. :P

I don't. . . Mind digital, but I do prefer to have a book in my hands. Allows me to carry it with me(Has no lappy top) and I don't have to worry about plugging in or any of that to have my entertainment :P I can link you to a few places to watch and read yaoi if you like.
“Yes highness.” Akito murmurs automatically when he's addressed by his groom to be, earning a scowl from the emperor. While his wife talks happily of their time together at the beginning the emperor addresses the young soldier. His nerves already rubbed raw with fright having the emperor draw that disappointed face on him freezes Akito completely, not even daring to breath as he speaks.

“You two are to be wed soon. Don't tell me he's insisting you call him 'highness'?” His voice is gruff, clearly disapproving of the idea, and his brows are knit into a scowl.

Swallowing hard the youth flushes, shaking his head rapidly. “No, no, just, that's how I was always taught, I'm just not used to. . .” His head falls as he tries desperately to not have a panic attack right here in front of the entire royal family. Hi head snaps over as Hoko gives out a cry of disapproval and as his eyes land on the scene something snaps inside and without warning he stands. A noise comes from him that isn't even vaguely human and with effort Hoko pulls himself from Hironori's grasp and he races after Akito as he races from the room.

The empress watches, stunned, but the emperor looks a mix of sheepish and upset. He turns to Hiro. “What have you been filling his head with? He's acting like I'm going to eat him alive! He was just fine before you came in, you must have said something!” His tone is accusatory but unsure, as if he's not really blaming the prince but needs someone to blame anyways.

Out in the hall Akito's bright red has dulled into a shade of pale gray and he races full speed for the front door. He doesn't belong here. All he's been doing is making a fool of himself. He can't even make it through a meal without panicking and fleeing. How is he suppose to become a ruler!? It's too crazy to even entertain. He doesn't really blame Hoko, he should have kept better track of him and the things around him. He was acting on Akito's orders, distracted as they were.

In no time he's in the stable, saddling a horse with a few stable hands standing there spluttering and panicking. He doesn't hear them though, too focused on getting out of here, back to where he belongs. Before any of them even think to alert the palace Akito is gone, racing along the main roadway off palace grounds. The horse slows in the trees, but not completely. As a palace horse it's used to the darkness, but still needs to pick it's way a bit. It doesn't matter, none of it matter, all the young soldier cares about is he's getting away from all the strange frightening mess and is headed to his home. . . .
His pace quickens as he feels them all now moving away from the room he was aiming for. If they are on the move, something must be up. Something must have changed. Inui feels hopeful that maybe, just maybe, they are all going out for some fun or entertainment, but even he knows that that is Rue levels of naïve and keep his hope tempered. 'I gotta remember to not let my mind go in the other direction either' he reminds himself. Master Seishu warned him that negative energy can consume nightmare minions and out here walking the halls on his own letting that happen could be very, very detrimental. Not only to him, but to anyone nearby. He makes his way towards them all, catching up slowly as he gets into a part of the palace he doesn't recognize, but eventually he winds up on the lawn, all of them gathered a little ways away from the doorway.

Eyes open, ever so slightly. Wave after wave of pain races through his system making it impossible to think. He was just there, in that empty place between the waking world, but the shooting agony pounding through his veins rips him away from there. Something gets pulled from his skin and he feels someone move away. His lips pull back into a snarl. He's angry, but nothing seems to come of it. His energy is gone, sapped from him, but still he feels a bit of strength in him. He's still a guardian, it will take a lot more than this pain to bring this beast down. At the snarl however something strikes his face and once more he welcomes the painless nothing, his heart longing for it to be filled with the beauty of his love, but knowing it is a fruitless wish. His love is far, far away. He simply. . . .can't be here. . . .

~*~*~*~*~

Walking down the steps to join everyone he smiles, holding up a hand as he prepares to call out to them. Then suddenly he's on his knees, the breath knocked from his body with the pain of something ripping through his body. Curling around his middle he begins crying desperately, unable to catch his breath, the pain making him shake and fall on to his side. Then at last he's able to take a breath and he cries out in agony, a lash of his energy striking out blindly. He cries hard, trying to make the pain stop. He's never felt anything like this before.

At the sound of the cry Rue snaps out of his funk and is at Inui's side in an instant. Luckily no one was close enough to feel the lash directly but as Rue closes in he uses all his skills to repress his energy and instead pours everything he has into his fear and sadness. They'd forgotten. They'd all forgotten that Inui was here, that now that he was full nightmare minion, he would no longer be shielded from Lord Enasi's energy. Harper looks a little sick, as does Crios. Once more, they have failed. Yes, Seishu is gone, but how can they forgive themselves for being so callous as to disregard dear little Inui? They allow these feeling to flow, for they are true, and all they can offer the poor little thing. Flynn reaches out to hold Starla, his hands shaking. She stands firm, providing comfort for her taller sibling. They regret what happened, and both pity what has happened, but they do not feel they can trust themselves to get close to him right now. They both fear hurting him further.

Rasha too stays back. As a dream he's composed of positive energy and even as sad and as upset as he is in this moment he's not sure that simply approaching the little guy wouldn't wound him. Crios reaches out and gets a face full of negative energy, audibly coughing on the stuff he has to pull back. Rue, sobbing loudly, moves in and with his oddly high tolerance of negative energy at the point gently wraps around Inui from behind and holds him tight, whispering apology after apology, trying desperately to get Inui to calm down so the doctor can treat him. After only a few seconds of this Rue feels quite ill, but he doesn't stop trying.
Yaaaays! I will be sitting and waiting here all patient like! *Wags tail* Good luck with the job thing! *Cheers*
As Jin sits and stares at the offering, a smile on his lips as he recalls putting his own little efforts into it as a child. His eagerness had marked him out from the beginning as one who may be able to continue the traditions on into the future and is one of the reasons he was selected to take extra studies. He was special, and the elders knew it. They could sense that he was more interested in things more and more children didn't seem to have a care about, each generation getting further wrapped up in their own lives, their own studies, their own problems, the idea of being a guardian seeming less of an honor and more of a burden.

But here now, years later, Jin is just as humbled by the task as he was as a bright eyed little boy near free of markings watching the then guardian vanish into the ancient forest.

His head suddenly comes up, snapping out of his memories by something he's never heard before. His heart begins racing, he recognizes it, he thinks, and if he's right then something is about to happen. 'I've only heard stories of people getting replies. No one around here has had a reply in. . .In several generations!' He remains still, not wanting to disturb the moment or upset whoever is answering his call. He closes his eyes, trying desperately to understand the song, however it is over quickly and his eyes open once more. He feels a little dejected that it didn't last longer, convinced that he'd have been able to understand it if only. . . .

Blink. Out of nowhere this little rodent comes skittering over and without so much as a glance it mounts the offering box and turns to sit on it's haunches to stare at him. Now, Jin is no expert, butt hat doesn't seem normal. He knows that the animals in the forest don't run away from him any more, but running right up and. . .He shakes his head lightly, could it be? He looks back at the critter just as intently as it studies him and after a moment he realizes that that is exactly what it's doing. It's examining him. On impulse he slowly scoots back on his knees a few inches, then drops into a kneeling bow. Raising his head he once more looks at the critter and murmurs softly, “Are you a Seraas, an ancient spirit?” His tone is soft end respectful, just in case he's guessed correctly. He knows full well he could be bowing to simply a very bold little rat thing, but even if he's wrong, no one is there to see him so who cares? His heart is still racing in excitement, hoping against all hopes he's right about the little critter.
*Paws hopefully*
As soon as he's in sight of the door he sees Aoba appear, looking off towards the barn. He raises a hand in greeting, giving the smaller male a friendly smile. He knows things are strange between them. Knows that nothing about all of this is even in the vaguest realm of normal. But for Aoba's sake, he can at least pretend. As he mounts the steps the angel mutters something about Dani and Kuro pauses, following his line of sight. He chuckles, finishing the small climb and pausing a few feet from Aoba, still watching the barn. Yeah, he is isn't he?” He chuckles again, turning his eyes on to the gray winged male.

He hears Aoba's question but for just a moment, a few long heartbeats, he doesn't feel like saying anything. He just feels like looking at the smaller male. The once white clad beast now stands before him, grace forsaken, in a blue button up shirt, sleeves rolled high to free up his hands, and comfy jeans settles snugly around his lower half, dirty looking feet once covered in blisters now callousing due to near constant contact with rough surfaces. . .The sight is, in it's own sad way, far too lovely and depressing at the same time. He practically stole this Little Mouse's innocence and now here he is, growing rougher day after day, far from his friends and family, with demons confusing and and sometimes terrorizing him day and night. . .

On impulse he reaches out and does something he's not done in quite a while. Gently he grasps the back of Aoba's neck and pulls him in close. That close, slightly intimate distance that used to terrify the little angel back in heaven. He holds him there, looking down into his eyes, and unreadable expression on his face. Then after a mere heartbeat he leans in and places a tender kiss on the younger male's forehead before pulling back slightly. The hand on the back of Aoba's neck slides up softly and ruffles the boy's hair, a playful, honest smile now on Kurotama's lips. “Yeah. . . .That sounds like a good idea.” his voice is gentle and calm with just a hint of playfulness in it and he gives Aoba a sharp nod before turning and heading down the steps. Turning at the bottom he begins heading for the barn, letting Aoba decide how fast he wants to follow.
The sound of the doors opening once more draws the young soldier's attention and instinctively his hand goes to the hilt of his blade. It doesn't fall on to the cloth bound surface in the position that looks as hi he wishes to draw it, instead simply coming to rest on the butt, however he is still glad that the emperor and empress both look away as this happens giving him time to remove his hand. He's not sure how they would take his first response to a door opening being to reach for his blade. Turning so he can see who's entering he spots his husband to be and offers a light nod as he's acknowledged and for a moment he feels curious about the young man before him.

Once more he seems almost congenial. He talks calmly to his parents, apologizes for being late, and doesn't offer up any immediate complaints. 'It's so strange. Last night it was like he slowly devolved into a spoiled brat, and now he's back to being, well, almost sweet. . . .I wonder if he really does simply sour throughout the day. . . I suppose then I should learn that, should I actually need to interact with him, I should do it during the daylight hours. . .' While Akito is determined not to become a pest to his soon to be spouse he knows there will be times where interaction is necessary, son on the mental list of things not to talk about while the prince is around he adds a note about talking to him during the day when at all possible.

Looking around at all present he can't help his lips twitching into a faint smile at the son and mother interaction. He feels actually a little distant from the empress, all his other meals spent on the other side of the table, but as they'd talked the emperor had called him to sit closer so they could “conspire” better. Hoko's head peeks out as they finally get to “the food thing” and he slithers out, waiting for his little plate to be filled. Audrat are smart little beasts, which is why in many places they are considered pests. They ability to learn and adapt is incredible for such small animals and it makes pest proofing nearly impossible.

Is small smile falters a bit as Hironori suddenly turns his attention on to the young soldier but he recovers quickly, glancing down at his hands as he tries to think of a good response. He keeps the small smile up, despite the nervousness inside, and listens quietly to the options the youth lists, wondering if he would like to do any of those things together. He dismisses that thought however rather quickly. 'If not offered, I will not ask. . .At least not until I learn better how to keep his wrath from being directed my way. . .'

At the sigh of Hoko the empress lights up and turns her attention on to him, clicking her tongue softly and trying to coax him over with food. Hoko stays in place but looks very interested in what she has. It takes a minute or so for Akito to come out of his thoughts and notice the exchange and when he does he flushes with embarrassment. Giving the critter the okay he watches it vanish beneath the table before his stomach gives way to a dark hole as he watches Hoko mount his betrothed’s lap without apology and takes the offered food. While the empress looks happy at this he's not so sure the bipolar young man will be quite as delighted to have a large rodent crawling around in his lap with greasy food. He tries to apologize but his tongue suddenly feels so thick and dry that he can't even consider getting words out.
I'm thinking this would be a good opportunity for a little bit of fun with our guys. Maybe she spends the night and of course the two boys would bunk together because that's the more appropriate arrangement, right? :P
