Current My roleplay is all tabletop these days, and the part of the guild I used to hang out in doesn't exist anymore. To my friends from this site, I will think of you, and maybe I'll see you again someday.

To my friends from chat: I guess I'll see you around, since I'm still not using discord.

I don't actively RP on the site these days, but I might be convinced to come back if there's a cool fantasy or sci-fi group RP that can capture my interest. Catch me on Second Life, Wildstar, or Chat.

My life has gotten really chaotic. I'll be back to RPing when I can.

I need a good generic fantasy RP, but I can't find one.

In a fantasy world with monstrous races, human nature is far less of a broad term.

In the situation you describe, my character wouldn't bother going to look for food, since he already has a freshly slaughtered meal in front of him. Human nature hardly applies to those who aren't even mammals.

Also, never said he didn't care about the outcome, he'd just prioritize in a way that would be horrific to others. He might prefer to take the course of action that causes more civilian deaths, as it means more souls to fuel his magic.
That just rules out any characters that have a genuinely sadistic or malicious bent though. Some people enjoy causing others pain, or simply lack the empathy required to find fault with their own abhorrent actions.

I did not have a very nice or compassionate character in mind. Impervious to the world nothing, try actively malicious, almost like the unseelie faeries of the old folktales.
Honestly, not everyone has something that they feel guilty about, and I find that kind of an odd field to have. Having every character have that listed is going to push the RP towards melodrama, since everyone will have to work something their character regrets into their backstory. Besides, a regret doesn't always result in a feeling of remorse, the few things that I could say I regret actually fill me with a burning anger and a desire to go beat the shit out of a specific individual who basically conned me out of my entire life.

Anyway, the character I wanted to do was a sort of mercenary voodoo lizardman necromancer / witchdoctor that used the spirits of the dead (both cooperative and uncooperative) to fuel / perform his magic, so if there's low / no magic in this then I'm probably gonna duck out. The high fantasy thing made me assume high magic, since I've always seen those go hand in hand. The whole discussion of the conflict between the two nations also made me think that conflict was going to be more central to this, but from what you're saying it's sounding kinda like combat wouldn't be playing as much of a role as I had previously understood.
You know, sync Ozzy up to Jack's hardware and she'd be able to paint targets for it right in the field. This is good, between a demolitions expert and a robotics expert I'm seeing a good couple of people that my character will work well with :D

That said, dang, 23 seems oddly young for a robotics expert. Does he perhaps have some sort of neural uplink that allows him to directly interface with computers to some extent, possibly to assist in learning by directly uploading sections of data to his mind or allowing him to input data faster than with analogue devices? Ignore me if this isn't the direction you were thinking of, I just enjoy brainstorming. And I mean Jack has some mind/machine interface hardware going on, so it apparently does exist in this setting. Actually, if such things were relatively commonplace, it would explain why non-combatant experts might be of a younger age, they would need less time to reach a similar level of competency when compared to organic learning.
Should we post characters here in the OOC or to the Characters tab for you to approve?
Chuck it in the characters section, then.

And I'm ready to start whenever.
Sounds good to me.
If he had more experience then he could also be useful as a general science officer (think Mordin from Mass Effect), but at 21 he wouldn't have that sort of practice.

Also, unless there's some reason otherwise in the bio, I think Alfred and Jack might get along really well. Both of them specialize in blowing the everliving blue fuck out of things, and a living mech is probably gonna try to stay on the good side of those who can repair her.
What could be interesting is if we wound up angling for a sort of god/goddess of the forest / wild places. Large antlered headdresses always look cool after all, and there's something untamed about the deep places of the wood. A connection to the wilderness is also something that a lot of people in the modern world seem to be sorely missing from their lives, whether they realize it or not.

ActRaiser, it sounds to me like you mean appeal to the common folk first? That seems like a sensible idea.
