Summer.

Welcome to Sympathy, California, a large and expensive urban city known for its many popular tourist attractions, its beaches, its universities, and most of all, its extraordinarily hot summers, which happens to attract foreigners from all over the world to come and bask in the hot Californian sun and to attend their prestigious universities. The busy inner city is full of breathtaking skyscrapers and businesses that have advertisements everywhere, making the scene beautiful and picturesque at dusk, but the traffic is as bad as you would expect of a populated city like this.

But as the night complements the city, dawn is a totally other spectrum, casting a majestic scene over the white sand beaches, illuminating the natural elements and hotels that surround the waves, and all of this together gives the city a very sleek and modernized feel to it, almost in a dystopian way.
But as most are attracted to the high of the inner city and the crowded, yet gorgeous beaches, downtown has to be where it's at.

Full of bustling hole-in-the-wall restaurants, coffee shops, obscure clothing lines perfect for college students, smoke and skate shops, plenty of antique stores, and it's aesthetically pleasing book stores and clubs, it fits within the criteria of the ambitious yet money spending college student looking to have fun, but not in debt as other more popular stores would leave them. Downtown isn't nearly as popular as it should be, to the regulars, it's as beautiful as any other place and even more spectacular, especially with the Annual Light Show held at the end of summer and frequent parties held there, it couldn't be more like home.

Near the far edge of the city, some ways away from the inner city but closer to Downtown, is a small neighborhood a bit isolated from all the tourist attractions and busyness of overall Sympathy. Surrounded by friendly and fortunately, tolerating people, a couple of friends had the wonderful idea of sharing a duplex, pitching in on rent and just helping each other out. No one really knows whose idea it was originally, but word spread and soon enough, the entire (depending on how many people join) duplex was rented out by these young, college aged adults. Basically, it was a good idea for those who didn't have enough money to pay for their own place, especially in this costly city, and went to one of the universities Sympathy offered, or just wanted a place to hang out, maybe you actually do have a lot of money. Why you wanted to live here, who knows, that's up to you. But altogether, it's almost like a frat or sorority house, but with or without the college hassle.

The duplex is pretty nice, though a bit crowded, six of you sharing a 3 bed, 2 bath (Both full baths), so two of you to a room, for both parts of the duplex (size will be adjusted due to the number of people joining). It has its own yard and pets are allowed, though the landlord makes visits often to make sure maintenance is kept up, especially knowing a bunch of college kids live there.

So no matter what the story of how they got there and why, it doesn't really matter, after all, it is summer break, honestly the best time of tear. No school, endless parties, romance, and Netflix binge marathons, the days go by faster than expected. Already some time has passed since the start of break, but that doesn't matter either; summer only has just begun and the possibilities are literally endless. It's time to enjoy the last years of youth until adulthood truely starts, the last

Taking another bite of her salad, Meredith watched through squinted eyes as more people approached their table, not taking the almost obvious hints that she was attempting to throw at them through small glares and uncomfortable shifts in her seat. She began to feel a little overwhelmed already, but she covered it with a sigh, straightening herself to look a bit more intimidating, though it was difficult considering she was 5'1 exactly and looked a bit young for her age.

Turning back to Karina, as she found out, Meredith tilted her head slightly, taking a moment to respond to her question. "Well, I was trying to bring up something, you know-." She blinked a few times before finishing her sentence. "-For conversation purposes. You wouldn't want me to just sit here without saying a word, yes? Making it awkward for the both of us?" Meredith asked rhetorically, with a hint of sarcasm on her voice before she gave a small cough as she realized it. It was a bad habit she was trying her best to break, if you count "trying her best" as "barely trying", which was a more accurate term. She didn't really know Karina, nor Nadia, whom she seemed familiar with, but Meredith certainly was not, pursing her lips at the woman's early morning optimism.

"Ah, er, hello there. You're Nadia I'm assuming? Since that's what Karina adressed you as," Meredith waved her hand before resting it on her lap again. "Not sure if you're aware already, but I'm Meredith," she greeted yet another person, before once again turning back to Karina. "Hmm, I don't necessarily believe 'excited' is the right description," she said, pausing. "Maybe try...I dunno, 'indifferent', perhaps? They're just like normal classes, but with a hint of magic, which I suppose is more fun. Some of the teachers though are rather irritating, and it's not gonna be long before someone get their ass kicked, but-," she shrugged. "-It's pretty neat overall. I only have like, two classes during the day, so I have a whole lot of free time," also not realizing the wolf that had gone and sat behind Karina, but noticing the snake that had slithered onto the other woman's shoulder; the one who had sat a seat away from them. Meredith looked at it for a moment, interested.

And then as she began to ease up a little, yet another person approached with an overall optimistic disposition, which don't get her wrong, she didn't have anything against it, just that she wasn't nearly in the mood this early in the morning. Turning her head towards him, she said, "Excuse me, but please don't. Just-," she sighed, tilting her head, a tad annoyed now. "-No."

@Strange Rodent I realize going through the posts above that you said you all weren't accepting anymore people, but if there happens to be room, I would love to join sometime.

Merlou Zenon

Jumping to attention, Merlou eyes widened as she somewhat frantically searched the room that everyone had disappeared from. Shit. Where did everyone go? She asked herself, silently shunning herself for getting lost in thought and not paying attention. God, she could be such an airhead sometimes. Merlou shook her head, trying to clear her head though she was a tad nervous that she was alone now.

Takibg a step forward, the tall woman weighed her options: Either she could stay and wait for them to maybe come back, or she could go out and ask around, that is if they were far enough away from her. They shouldn't be too hard to spot considering both of the younger ones had colored hair and were rather unique. Yeah. That's what she would do.

Merlou exited the room, looking both ways for the group, finding that it was quite rowdy outside of their quiet room. I thought this was a hospital of some sort...not a...bar? She questioned, nervously entering a room that seemed to be some sort of receptionist area but was also connected to the bar. Walking up to the main desk, she glanced down at them, making sure to keep a lookout for the rest of her group.

"Ah, hello, have you seen some small teenage looking kids running around lately? One with blue hair and another with pink?" Merlou asked a bit quietly, mostly concerned for the young teenage girl. "Oh, and a doctor of some sort, what was his name?.. Ah right, his name was Ferb, yes? Yeah, that sounds right. I think. But anyway there's also a guy around my age I think who might be with him...but I can't remember his name, sorry," she ended, hoping that they understood who she was talking about. Suddenly, she remembered that she had forgotten to introduce herself. "Oh yeah! I'm Merlou!" She introduced a little too forcefully. "Sorry, sorry. I didn't mean to say that so, uh, loud. Sorry."
