Tyaethe

"Oh, I see," she said, looking ahead at the view, "It's not really the view, it's the feeling, sitting somewhere pretty high off the ground and talking normally. I used to do this a lot..."

It also seemed that nobody had come outside with the shard yet. That didn't bode well for the thing still being here, with everyone split up and searching for it in particular, this fortification wasn't nearly so big enough that it should be difficult to find. When she found out what complete moron had kept a deadly artefact outside of safe and tracked storage...

"Say, how did you get your armour? Even if mercenary work pays well, getting something like this...," Tyaethe wondered, tapping at the thick metal. The number of smiths who would even dare to try and make a piece of this size, let alone be able to pull it off? The cost and difficulty could only increase exponentially. "I don't even think our smith could pull it off with the tools and space Candaeln has on-site, though I'm sure he could maintain or enchant it."

"Hoshiko, right," Jennifer said, nodding and looking at the one who'd corrected her. It was that guy with the really odd name, Rune... something? And damn he was big, although happily this wasn't surprising, just... well, the part where someone so comparatively huge had wound up in the seat beside her and she hadn't even registered it until he said something really showed that she wasn't paying enough attention to what was going on.

So did the broth dripping into the bowl. Less staring at the huge guy, more finishing her lunch.

And hey, at least she wasn't the only one making mistakes with names! Where had she even pulled the 'stone' from? That didn't even sound slightly similar. Did the other girl know somebody else with that name, or was she just that bad with English?

"Well, we can't really be split into more than two teams," the small girl noted with a slight shrug, "There aren't enough of us for more. Maybe it's just going to be more of a rotating schedule? Some days you'll be on the slightly bigger team, some days on the smaller one."

Which was another thing to have to track. Damn.
Andrea and Akira

"Um... Honda Akira, pleased to meet you..." the girl replied, taking the offered hand with a slightly puzzled expression. Sure, the half-built building might be somewhat on fire and liable to collapse ''eventually'', but she didn't need to be lead out to safety. The contract might not help her, but this was hardly the ''first'' time she'd been in a dangerous situation.

Was she being mistaken for being much younger than she actually was again? It had to be that, didn't it? That was so annoying, even if her choice of clothing didn't help...

Further inside, the contracted demon's features narrowed into a sneer of derision, wiping some imaginary dust off of her jacket. Without a word, she turned her back on the already-vanishing ashes and headed for the exit... offering an uncomfortable reminder to everyone else that a summon had to be actively dismissed, and the demon would still be awkwardly accompanying them until Akira was reminded to make her leave.
Gisela

"Oh, she's quite safe," Gisela assured, taking this for a 'yes' and carefully handing Anisette over properly once the coin was inspected. Oddly, given how divergent their interests were, she shared the idea that this might be some test of their character, in looking after the doll. Although, she was rather confident in there being no particular trap innately in the doll's construction, beyond the inevitable retribution should they let one of the witch's progeny be damaged or destroyed in any way, "Her abilities are entirely beneficial. Just make sure to not let her get damaged."

And if she was to be dropped by anyone, the nem made for the shortest drop. Another bonus.

One thing that was still taking getting used to was the food here. Oh, she didn't even remember half the things she'd used to eat, or even what her favourite had been, but it was readily apparent that she hadn't been some massive aficionado for foreign cuisine in the past. Most things had been new to her, and she had definitely been learning how to use chopsticks for the first time, no half-lost muscle memory to rely on. It was a good thing that the whole learning process there was over with before this whole operation started and a bunch more people joined in, it would have been awkward to have a bigger audience than the local researchers.

Jennifer had spent a good few minutes absent-mindedly looking over the Tokyo skyline--it was neat to look it at it from above like this and not be dealing with the wind herself. Or having to talk to air traffic control at the same time. She wasn't a registered pilot, what were they expecting from her? The only times she'd come this high were in the full mechframe, it would have taken too long anyway, and then the odds that she'd collide with anything and not dodge were minuscule.

At least, she thought she could avoid collisions with most aircraft? They were pretty unlikely to be at the same altitude, and she could just go straight up and down with an agility that powered flight could only dream of. And backwards. So, she ought to never be hit by a plane, and even a helicopter would be pretty unlikely. Getting chewed up by turbine blades or a rotor sounded like a really nasty way to go, she should make sure that never happened.

An exuberant declaration brought Jennifer's attention back from the window again, and to the ramen she was carrying. Right, lunch, eat it. Pulling up the chair in front of the brunette before she got distracted again, watching in fascination as the food just... vanished. Where did it all go? Was she even tasting it?

"You look like you're enjoying that, uh..." what was her name again? Futaba something or other? "Honoka?"
Akira and Andrea

"I am taking you exactly as seriously as you deserve," the other demon stated, coming to a stop in front of the Monster, not even deigning to face it directly. With a dismissive flick of her hair, Andrea levelled one eye against the demon. "If you had realised this sooner, perhaps you might have been a worthy foe."

There was no more time for it to consider what she meant, the summon raising her hand dramatically to snap her fingers. A small gesture. Entirely unnecessary except for the dramatics. But what she triggered at the same time...

The surfaces carved out while she had been jumping around all had a singular purpose: flat and angled to point almost towards where the foe stood, flinging out fireballs with reckless abandon. Perfect for circles to etch themselves on. But not specifically towards it; that would give it an easy way out. Some were angled right at its position, while others were just slightly offset so that it found itself caught in an inescapable cage of light. Like most traps, it had a way out: backwards, where the firing had been withheld so as to not destroy Andrea's own ally... and forwards, where the demon stood, hand stretched into a knife.

Even if it somehow shrugged off Kaeru--who would probably want to let go if the lasers looked to burn through--that would still leave it with Andrea blocking the obvious escape. Using "blocking" lightly, naturally: as soon as the beams came in from all angles, the girl surged forwards, ruby eyes scanning its body. It might only be a Monster, but that still gave it some chance to survive most of its body being destroyed. There would be a core.

And she would destroy it.

Akira, of course, was edging as far away as she could from the conflict. Not that she could flee the area entirely, yet, but...
Hmm, the thing about dark elves is they're... well, for one, they're not tribal at all. Yeah, the way law is structured and the like is far more interested in the family than the individual, but they're still pretty centralised and urbanised, more so than most of the others in the north. It's just that, well... they're almost entirely underground, rather than dealing with the ice or snow (and making it a lot easier to fight against invaders).

Very interested in hunting, there's an awful lot of weird creatures and monsters down there.
Tyaethe

With the enormous mercenary lowering himself, Tyaethe wasted no time in grabbing onto the nearby arm and clambering up to the shoulder. Not that it could really be considered a comfortable seat by any stretch of the imagination, given that she was now seated upon a curved piece of steel. On the flip side, it was broad enough for her that it may as well have been any other uncomfortable bench in existence and a far cry better than just standing around.

"Me, resemble your daughter?" she wondered, head tilting and looking at Bors again, "I can't see it. Surely there ought to be a notable size difference between us? Unless she's only five years old..."

Tyaethe, after all, was short even for her apparent age. Even a quarter giant should easily eclipse her in height.
Gisela

It made sense that she would be asked along to find the prisoners. Even if her offensive abilities would be of limited use in a rescue operation (provided that you were looking for it to remain a rescue mission for long), the hundi was primarily a healer, and who would be more likely to need urgent medical aid than that?

Of course, this meant she needed to find somewhere safe to leave the doll. Were it just a magical item, this would hardly be difficult at all, just find a reliable-seeming member of the entourage and come back later. Except... even if she might count as a magical item, she was also a person. Just a very, very small one. That happened to have been bequeathed to them by one of the most powerful mages in existence. Just leaving her with some footman that no doubt had an extremely negative impression of spellcasters as a whole wasn't an option.

But since she was a person, maybe she might have some preference? Or could that fact be impressed upon whoever was assigned this task?

"Can you speak?" the purple-haired mage asked, looking down at the unusual entity in her arms. There was a brief pause, before the doll's small head gave a very reluctant-seeming nod. "But you don't want to?" This time, the response was much more emphatic... she thought. It was a bit hard to tell, given their comparative sizes and the angle.

Of course, if she could speak, then that meant she probably had a name, right...? Another easy question to ask. It seemed like the doll wasn't going to answer for a long moment, before she spoke in a very small voice... "Anisette."

What a cute girl. She'd give her a hug, but she was already doing that.

While Gisela had been asking this, thoughtlessly wandering about the tomb, she couldn't avoid hearing Lirrah was audibly wondering about the doll. Hm, if there was anyone who was too harmless in the camp to do much damage, it probably was the merchant, especially with her current attitude. She was also more likely to consider selling a unique magical item off than breaking it, and a Nem from the deserts was unlikely to share the local preoccupation with witches...

She might also benefit from the doll being, well, a doll.

Making her way through the thinning crowd as people got ready, the mage answered the question with a simple "This doll," hand indicating the one in her arms before absently patting the tiny girl on the head, something that gained a rather smug expression. "Her name is Anisette, could you look after her for a little while...?"

As the resident learned mage, she did have an interest in coming back for her later. If anybody was going to help work out what exact abilities she could provide, it would have to be Gisela. And she was cute, and unlikely to find the magical aura around her at all concerning.

Now, where had she left her staff...?
