“We’ve never spent any time together but maybe I should make an effort this year since Emily’s her friend.”
Being different years, different houses, different interests they just never really spent much time around each other outside of class.
"One of the few people that seems to have decent taste in music, even if he listens to that whiny stuff, too."
He's a nice guy, and not at all like the guys that seem to always be told where her eyes are. They've known each other since he started and always gotten along. Same house, interest in music. But their academic interests have generally been in vastly different directions. That and he seems infected by that pervasive obsession with quidditch so many possess. Agatha likes playing with his puppy, though, always has. And she's definitely has more discerning taste than Cass.
“One of our first years, she’s adorbs and super sweet even with her rough life.”
Amelia’s just started but she’s been a welcome addition to house Tituba. It’s good to know that the house will have good people once Cass is gone. But, since she just started they haven’t had much time. At least her other friends have taken Amelia under their wing.
“I see her with Aella a lot of the time. She seems nice, but there’s an edge. And she’s hella cute, but I don’t really know her.”
Cass doesn’t really know Ariadne for many of the same reasons she doesn’t know Aella. But, she wants to change that this year.
"I really don't get it, but everyone else seems too. Especially Emily."
Cass doesn't particularly have that many feelings toward Dorado. He's popular in a very different way than Cass is and they don't really have any of the same interests. So, it's all passing in the halls and watching he and Emily go at it. 'Get a room,' has been muttered more than once, in jest of course. That's generally the interactions she's had with him.
“Seriously one of the best people ever. Not only does she never ask me to go flying but nobody’s better to share a pint of ice cream with.”
The only word that pops to mind whenever Emily is mentioned is 'sister.' Emily is family as far as Cass is concerned, not just a best friend. Being an only child it all changed five years ago when school started. She had a year of experience, Emily was new, and they clicked instantly. It's been that way ever since.
Sure, they have different interests, but they share plenty as well. And they disagree, sometimes argue, definitely squabble. But, that's all part of being family, nothing is roses and sunshine all the time. Instead it's real. Cass just knows that if there's every trouble there's someone to turn to, no questions asked. When they're in pain and hiding it the other knows the other knows.
"Now, that's complicated? What day is it?"
Julie and Cass have had an interesting relationship since Cass's 4th year. That's when they started getting romantic. It was maybe some experimenting at first. Young and not sure what was happening. But it was occasionally very intense and other times would stop for months.
Since then they've had a major on again, off again, friends with benefits things. Sure, they see other people, but that's okay. It's open, but Cass loves Julie in a way, she's still trying to figure out what all that means. They're both open, free spirit types and that has defined their relationship from day one.
