Liveria, Elrithos
His first task for the Queen’s Blade. Elrithos had only been this nervous maybe twice before in his lifetime. Yet this time, the difference was that it wasn’t the lives of his people that were at stake, but many more than that. However, he still held his composure and his cool as this mission seemed to be of great importance and he couldn’t let anyone down. It was important that all the missions the Queen’s Blade was put on had to be a success. It wasn’t a hard way to think about it… He had been doing it for many years.

His eyes wondered the small traveling group, a little mystified by his new surroundings. Having lived in the desert all his life, this was a whole new change in scenery. It was truly a wonderful view, all of this. Even the people he had gathered with were mildly astonishing. The elves with the dark skin had been the biggest surprise of the bunch, as he had never seen any of their kind baring the ashen skin. Why was it so? He would surely figure it out or at least he would be told one when time comes.

The first appearance of the signposts of skulls was a surprising sight, but when told that they were orcs, a savage species, it made a lot more sense. It was a simple sign to warn people that coming into their territories would mean probable death if they were unwelcomed. This was disregarded, but Elrithos would keep note of it. The Aavikanian kept quiet for now, letting the lead discuss about what was to come. Instead, he kept his eyes open to his environment. The notice of malformed, twisted evil walking around meant that something much greater than simple orcs were at hand there. Now the elf wondered if there were any connections between the two.

They eventually came to the small clearing, his eyes set on the path ahead. The rocks… His eyes set on them. Something was clearly off and it seemed that the lead had noticed it too. They came to a halt and Elrithos looked around him. It was an obvious site for an ambush, but of what nature? Was it a trap or a surprise attack? This lead to him picking up on the conversation of those ahead of him. Wait… It wasn’t the best idea. And so, he led his horse to come right behind them.

‘’If you do not mind having me putting my opinion on the matter…’’ It was easy to hear that he spoke with a thick accent, hinting out that this wasn’t a language spoke too commonly ‘’It would be best we do not wait for them to strike. It would let them time to adjust to our position and possibly make a better ambush. Worst, they could have time to send people behind us and block our exit route.’’ He then lifted his head to look around, thinking of a possible plan of action. ‘’We could try to provoke them instead, have them be forced to come out. If these are truly savages, then they will answer our lure, even if they have a strong chief.’’

He did not know if they would heed his words, but it was the best thing they could do. Savages were bound to make mistakes if they were taken by surprise in their own ambush.
Annnnnd done
Although the atmosphere was still a little tense, there was still some joy from a simple game like this. Elrithos was enjoying himself really, as he was experiencing a challenge he was taking great care of overcoming. He had watched the techniques of the others after his own throw, wondering how lightly they went. It was very surprising to see human beings being so good at something like this. It was so mundane, yet, it proved that even without years upon years of living, you can be good or even great at something. The desert elf kept his light smile as he tried again too, but yet again, failed at his attempt. Clearly, he wasn’t that great, but it took it quite well.

Vordan, still sitting up, was watching this whole thing unfold. He also couldn’t help but keep a smile on his face. Finally, it wasn’t all about hating on each other. Sure, Tirian had been an ass towards Aaerynn but really, she probably deserved it. And so, Vordan crawled over to the nearest tree to lean his back against, simply relaxing and to his own things. His thoughts were lingering on many manners, but again, he wasn’t going to deep into the details for now. He had already enough problems with his own things… For now. He’d certainly do some snooping around. The first thing would be the sword, which he had a PRETTY good idea what it was now. It was to see if the twins had any idea.

Eventually, people had gone to make their resting place, Vordan going to sleep this time… Pretty hard too. Elrithos had stayed up with the red-haired warrior. Contrary to him though, Elrithos had stayed seated near the fire, his eyes closed. You could still see that he was alert, conscious of his surroundings. He seemed into a light, almost hypnotic trance. This technique was developed for the desert warfare, as this let warriors rest with their senses still being alert. It was never suggested to do it all the time as it would tire someone out quickly the following days, but it was a great technique for a single night of waiting for something to happen.

This had given him sometime to also think of what he saw earlier… What Tirian had done. Yes, it would have been necessary, but in such a brutish way? He wasn’t saying that he hadn’t done the same once in a while, but these were simple road bandits, barely able to fight. One stab to the heart, maybe the neck or swift decapitation… Not completely cutting someone in half. To add to it, his movements were not one of a human. He understood that humans were capable of great things, but his way of fighting was beyond human capability. Vordan had proven crafty, but you could clearly see, for a fighter, that he wasn’t of perfect skill. His thoughts lingered on the fact, knowing he would have to talk to him… eventually.
The morning was like any other for Vordan. Get some food, prepare some vials, make sure his gear was one properly, the works. Hopefully, they wouldn’t encounter anything. It would be a nice day if it was so. Luckily enough, he could simply keep his backpack in the cart. He would simply walked beside the cart that day until he needed to rest his feet. The only bad news was that he only had 8 bolts left for his six-shot, which meant every shot needed to count. Elrithos him simply warmed up like the other morning, practicing and stretching himself out for the horse ride.

Everything was going fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Vordan was whistling a simple tune, Elrithos riding on his horse. It would seem that the day was going to be a breeze, up until Aaerynn simply ran off. Vordan simply looked at her go… NOW she was showing some kind of sign of life. Although, it didn’t seem to be for anything good. Elrithos also noticed and would have followed closely, but it was best he stayed back. They would catch up to her, that’s for sure. It still worried the Aavikanian. Both of them had their weapons drawn.

The group approached the clearing, and already, Elrithos exposed his shock… Desecrated woods, littered body parts. What had happened? The elven warrior turned pale a moment, not being used to seeing something horrific. He looked around him from his horse, knowing that these trees had once been ancestors of these lands. It was one of many reasons why these woods were untouched by the human kingdoms. They knew better…

Vordan, on his hand, was looking around, inspecting. He didn’t seem so shocked, just surprised. He walked around, looking at the damage. He was even going to inspect the wounds of the half eaten bodies, the black goop on the ground. He stopped beside the small pool of liquid and looked at it, pulling out a vial. He scooped some inside of the small glass container and looked at it closely. He wondered one moment, thinking what could have cause all this… Then he heard the Red haired warrior’s answer Orcs… Really? Orcs? That was his big answer? Was he stupid or did he just not notice everything around. He stood straight and looked forward, then back towards Tirian.

“Are you serious kid? Do you really think Orcs are capable of this? Look around you.” He opened his arms wide, turning on himself with crossbow at hand. “THIS is not caused by savage tribes. And Trolls wouldn’t hang anywhere near this kind of source of fire.” With that, he went back towards the cart that had his backpack, starting to rearrange a couple of things on him, changing vials. He thought about it quickly, the possibilities that could be. He spoke his opinions out loud as he sorted through his stuff.

“ It could probably be Canem Abyssum (Spoken in old dead language). Simply put; abyssal hounds. Slaughter, fire, desecration of woods. I would be something they would do. Although, with the black liquid on the ground over there, there might be undeath. The dead trees would serve that proof. Maybe a Murmur Ad Ignem, even a Tantibus or an Igneus Temerator. One thing for sure, it’s nothing that’s supposed to be walking on this plane of existence.”

Elrithos looked at him oddly… What was he talking about? He didn’t understand what he was talking about. Vordan wouldn’t explain himself for now, but he had some holy water somewhere in his bag… He was looking for it.
Good to know
Go ahead
There we go
Not too far from one of the carts, simply relaxing in the smooth, grassy ground, Vordan had his eyes up towards the sky. His lips displayed a rather simple smile, seemingly deep into his own thoughts. This was typical of him, especially after curing wounds with the bandages. He needed some time for the soreness to leave completely and didn’t want to be too active during that time. And so, with a light hearted sigh, he had his mind wrapped up on a few things he had noticed from his comrades.

The first thing was the massive strength of the red-haired young warrior. He had cut down those mean like nothing and killed with ease. This was no easy feat, even for a skilled warrior. Either his blade had some magical properties or he was hiding some surprising supernatural strength. Even with his own greatsword, he couldn’t manage brutal and precise cutting to cut through someone entirely so quickly. And so, it would be something interesting to investigate, as when he seemingly shocked his hand. It was him, it was pretty clear, but how?

The second was the little girl, Faith. What he had seen in the cart was very intriguing and something uncalled for. It was like magic bounced right out of her hands, reacting almost violently to her touch… Could she resistant to magic? A possibility. Could she control it? Probably not. Vordan couldn’t put a theory on it yet, but he wanted to know more.

The other people had their own quirks and mysteries, but it wasn’t as appealing as the other two things he had thought about. Aaerynn secrets were intriguing, as the twin’s sword and the nearly blind man’s way of seeing, but again, nothing to be bothered with. Elrithos and Rudolf… Well, they were what they were. The content of the carts were still not revealed, but it seemed quite important. Maybe sneak a peek sometime another night. With that in mind, he stayed with his eyes to the sky, until he heard the laughing. The dwarf was being quite loud and so, Vordan sat up, wondering what the heel the now drunken man was laughing about.

Aaerynn was attempting to play the game of horseshoe… And what a failure it was. Really? Throwing it overhand? It was very amusing to see, his smile widening as he held back his laugh. Incredible how a nimble elf like her couldn’t toss a piece of steel gently. It was quite bad actually, as she had tried again in the same result. Vordan laughed a little bit, just in time for Serna to arrive, not coming too close. He simply glanced at her as she deposited the bowl and the flower on the ground. A thank you… For what? It came as a surprise to the mercenary. Why thank him? He had not done much for her, or even his brother. He looked at the flower. A Lily of the Valley. Interesting…

With that, he actually got up and scavenged through his back pack, pulling out a small jar. He simply took the flower and stored it away, back in his backpack. He then grabbed the bowl, looking at it for a moment… He was starting to get hungry. It was maybe served by a Syndarean, but damn it smelt good! So, no refusing it this time, he starting eating it as he then watched the scene with the Red and Aaerynn unfold. That escalated quickly. Red seemed not too fond of the wood elf, like many others probably, and it showed. Vordan couldn’t blame him with the way she was acting.

The tall man quickly finished his bowl as he saw Tirian pick up the dwarf… Again, his strength was amazing and HAD to be supernatural. He was hiding something for sure, probably like everyone else here, but that strength was an oddity. Was he the only one who had noticed? Probably not… Hopefully not. Then, the young Syndarean man showed up to play the game. Vordan, as the person he was, would simply watch. It seemed even the Desert Elf was approaching to give it a go too. Would he be any good? Vordan wanted to see if he was going to be as horrible as Aaerynn.
Elrithos had continued with his combat maneuvers, eventually switching weapons between each ‘’end of a fight’’. He would do this mainly when he was alone and not with traveling groups, but this one needed him to be ready for battle at any time, so these kinds of exercises were the best way to keep fresh constantly. It didn’t seem to bother anyone else, so he would make sure he would do this any time he could. He would eventually slow down, taking his time with other non-combat related exercises.

When Serna had approached with the bowl and the flower, Elrithos had noticed, but stayed in his maneuvers until the end. He had the opportunity to hear her thanks, which made the Aavikanian smile. He came to a stop shortly after her presence and put down his weapons, coming to sit down where the bowl was and enjoy the tasty meal. He also picked up the flower and placed it behind his ear. He seemed so much less of a warrior now, but Elrithos loved flowers. A beautiful plant so rarely seen in the desert.

He watched where all the horseshoe throwing was happening, and really, he wished he could have smiled… but the situation was so tense once more. Sure, they started out great with the drunken dwarf and the simple play times, but it quickly turned sour. Tirian had so rudely attacked Aaerynn with that comment. What was wrong with everyone? Sure, they did not get along, but there was no need to put insults in. With a sigh and once his food was done, he came towards Aaeryn and Setna who had gathered for the game. Elrithos grabbed one of the horse shoes. He tried throwing the thing like the others, but of course, he over shot it even underhand… And Elrithos laughed.

‘’This really is harder than it looks.’’
I will post either tonight or tomorrow
We shall all see soon enough
