Shinji
"Don't worry, just leave it to me~"
NAMEYoshida, Shinji
GENDERMale
AGEFourteen - August 3rd
NATIONALITYJapanese
APPEARANCEHeight: Shinji is considered average for his age, at 5 feet and 5 inches. Shinji still believe he still has room to grow since both his brothers are just over six feet.
Weight: Although considered more mesomorph-like, Shinji is lean and somewhat lanky, currently weighing 126 pounds.
Fashion Sense: Aside from leaning towards bright colors, Shinji has no other particular preference in the clothes he wears as long as they're comfortable and appropriate. This might be attributed to the fact that he has received a lot of hand-me-downs from his brothers and father.
Distinguishing Features: If his adorable unkempt blond hair and soft olive green eyes aren’t distinguishing, I’d say it would have to be his smile then. It’s not amazing, but regardless of the situation, it’s always there. Even when he sleeps; its kind of weird though.
PERSONALITYAt first glance, most would notice Shinji's cheerful, carefree, and fun-loving nature. He is approachable to many and exudes a vibe of confidence and lightheartedness even in the most dire of situations. His straightforwardness and being able to voice out his thoughts without restraints, may be misconstrued as tactlessness and just being rude. Although practical, Shinji enjoys a good challenge and usually turns to his patience and craftiness to overcome hurdles thrown at him. Although playful, there's no denying that Shinji is stubborn, and is usually difficult to deal with.
For Shinji, he considers being a hero to be more of a profession - an extravagant one at that - than a lifestyle. When he takes part in acts of heroism, he becomes more cautious and professional with what he says and does.
HISTORYShinji was born fifth into a family of five with his parents and older brothers being quirkless. His parents were both physicians, with his father - Shoji - focusing his practice on medical research on the quirk factor, and his mother - Shuna - a physiatrist that specialized in quirk-induced injury rehabilitation. Given the profession of their parents, Shinji's brothers aimed to follow in their footsteps with his eldest brother - Shiro - being a medical student in his third year, and his other brother - Shingo - a university student finishing his degree in pharmacy, who was hoping to enter medical school the year after.
Shinji was expected to do the same, but unfortunately, he was different. He persistently rejected the idea of becoming a doctor, and wanted to pursue a career as a police. Also, Shinji had a quirk. At the age of four, while indulging in some afternoon playtime with Chunchunmaru - a neighborhood friend - what was supposed to be a simple fist bump to greet his buddy, turned into quite the predicament. Obnoxious screams filled with panic along with a face full of tears and snot plagued the young neighborhood boy's face as his right hand up to his elbow, was covered in a thick layer of frigid ice. Aunties and housewives from all around appeared out of nowhere and surrounded the stunned Shinji and the poor Chunchunmaru. While the useful ones tried to help the semi-frozen youngster, the rest began gossiping and whispered snide remarks while pointing and staring at Shinji. What was a clueless and confused boy to do in such a situation? Well, as expected, he ran home in tears.
With the relative influence his family possessed, preventing the incident from escalating any further was easy enough. That day, Shinji learned a valuable lesson, a single fuck up was all it took to change a person. He decided to never fully trust others again and understood the importance of being cautious. Where these thoughts came from, we can't really say, but what would one expect from a stupid impressionable child? One thing was obvious though, no one in his family seemed to had guided him after what had happened. We'll give them the benefit of the thought and assume that they were swamped with work and other responsibilities.
As the years passed, Shinji received counseling and training on how to control his quirk; after that, Shinji never really found the need to use it anymore since he eventually accepted his parents’ plans for him. He grouped up with the normies and continued his life as such. His life became monotonous and repetitive, with most of his daily activities being composed of books, home tutors, and the occasional sports here and there. However, during his final year in middle school, when asked what their plans were when they graduated, three out of his twenty four classmates said that they wanted to be heroes. Despite the judgmental laughter and snarky comments, Shinji followed them and proclaimed his ambition of becoming a professional hero as well. In the year he had to prepare and catch up, it was then where his ambition and passion to become a hero was rekindled.
QUIRKFrozen Shoulder: Through his fists, Shinji can freeze whatever he punches. Considered as mutations secondary to his quirk include his cold skin and cool minty menthol-like breath.
OTHERSLikes: Shinji enjoys trivia and healthy arguments. Challenges and casual conversation are cool to. He always welcomes both new faces and experiences. He isn’t what you’d call outright competitive, but he does like winning, but also losing as well. Along with his preference for bright colors, he’s a fan of minimalism and often keeps things neat and tidy.
Dislikes: Shinji dislikes long periods of unnecessary silence or inactivity. He's not fond of those who do not think before they act and those who do not weigh the pros and cons of situations. If not affected, he cares little for the decisions made by others, he just requires them to have reasons behind their actions. He tries to avoid impracticality and when in groups, he finds the lack of leadership quite annoying.
Fears: At present, Shinji doesn't really fear anything. He's conditioned himself to face criminals, villains, public scrutiny, and even failure.
