But the exploit used here is indeed a little different, I read some more and the way it is put is that monsters learn from interacting/fighting you. Such, the moment you switch they have to react to new input. That seems to be the basis of the exploit.
That's why it should actually work, since Hana's been running for what already? Some 15 minutes at least?

Act as you see fit...thou from what I could gather there where 2 ways to present Switch. In the anime it wasn't presented as a skill but the action you take. So jumping in front of a monster whil the current target/your partner retreats, forces the system to recalculate the target, leaving the mob immobile/vulnerable for a moment. As for the game, it was put in as a skill with cool down (rather long) and had the ability to both stun the monster and disable it(apparently), because it seemed that after a switch the monster seemed less likely to hit the player. But the way voice actors act in these situations in creates a impression similar to my first point.
What we don't know is weather it works or not. But from my rationalizing a Switch is actually a glitch exploit. Thus should probably work with whomever you may do it.

Now, monsters are agroed on Hana right? So a switch should effect them all.

From his position Kingetsu was the best suited to see the hoard that was heading towards them, sadly he had no actual skill to distinguish things in great distance. But as now they were less than half a mile away anyone with eyes would see that a huge group of monsters was headed their way, in disbelief of the luck he was hit with he yelled to the top of his lungs "MONSTERS" as he opened his menu. Going directly to the Skills tab he swapped both skills he had equipped for <Sprint> and <Acrobatics>. The reason this was quite simple actually, giving up some defence and some DPS he gained both increased reflexes and kiting ability.
As he closed his menu the other seemed to have prepared as well, with the corner of his eye he could see other groups of players, but he wasn't sure if they would join them or not, in truth he had hoped that they wouldn't but the sheer number of monsters seemed somewhat to much for 4 players. "I'll go ahead...”he said not waiting for an answer. The monsters where now some 300 yards away and the PC running from them was clearly a little girl. She must have triggered some event to have such company.
In his run towards the little girl has now hoping that all the info he "overheard" over <Switch> was true. Being lazy had had some benefits since rumors and information had flooded the starting city and one only needed to be there to know most stuff about the starting area. At least what was discovered. As for skills, same damn thing... As such he unleashed the active effect of his <Sprint> and reached the hoard in half of the me he would actually need to if he ran. Closing in he yelled to the fugitive, "Switch...now"
