Will look at the divine bond alternate class features cause I have never paladined so I am not intrinsically familiar. I guess if I could resolve the problem perfectly to my satisfaction I would take the magus chasis, trade the spell casting for better advancement of the arcana abilities, possibly selecting from some custom arcana to create 'mystic techniques' Like a projected slash of magical energy, or reinforcing the melee attack before it happens with magical energy in a specific format, basically what a magus does now All things that are currently built into the kit or easily adapated to the kit, with only minor flavor changes. They are inherently sub obtimal to spells because they are, a different kind of action but I like that, the big thing is any of the arcana that adds spells is now basically worthless.

Edit: sweet tobiax, on a case by case basis would you consider 3rd party arcana that you find reasonable and in the flavor of the character I build?

Basically its the inverse of sacrificing arcana points to get spell slots. You sacrifice spell slots and get points per slot level. It is sort of meant to let you play with the idea of a mystic swordsman rather than a spell and blade dual wielder.

@GRAY I am familiar with arcanists and the blade bound archetype its even further towards caster and less in terms of the mystical swordsman/fighter that I would be looking at. I havent been able to find something where a martial character might have a spark or natural talent for magic that they manifest through training with the sword rather than learning spell casting. So something like the arcana system, where you spend a point to execute a mystical strike infused with magical energy. Basically a martial character with access to mystical techniques they trained in drawn from their natural talent or an innate ability to harness the magics around them.
I never really liked the blood ragers flavor, so I would prefer something like a magus, I havent specifically looked at artificer so I am not sure how it differs from the standard magus.

The idea of an arcane archer as an archer who reinforces their arrows with magic, is what I am going for but more akin to a swordsman. I tend to try to run The Arcana lord 3rd party archetype which tends to sacrafice their spells in favor of more arcana points, and choosing arcana that fits more flavorfully with a mystic swordsman. But I am honestly open to almost anything.
Interesting, I wonder to what degree that the experience of aphantasia is a scale. For instance when I am writing, or reading, I get vague impressions off the physicality of what I am reading or writing, so I can imagine the weight behind a deep dark forest the way its presence weighs on a scene, but not the specific appearance of the forest no matter how well its written. In action scenes i tend to imagine the motions of the scene, meanwhile during more emotional scenarios I dont imagine the emotions the character is feeling(I struggle with theory of mind) but I can imagine the weight and tension the emotions bring to the scene like to the affect of gravity or inertia in a physical scene.

So on one hand I get more than just words, but I dont get much more than impressions to accompany those words.
I am interested if you are still accepting players

I tend towards mages, but mechanically have been trying to find a way to play a warrior that reinforces their combat with magic, such as a magus, though that feels to much like a primary caster, and not enough like they are imbuing their weapon with magical energy to augment their attacks or channeling magic through their weapons to make weapon like attacks at range. In short I will probably tend towards something magical, but might also run a melee focused character with magical multiclassing later.

All that of course if you are still accepting players.
I am new here, but this looks exceedingly interesting as the bare bones of a story to start with, some more details if you get enough interest would be nice.
Hi all,

I go by Rhiven or Knight, or by whatever character name im using at any given moment to roll play with.

I have been roleplaying in a play by post setting for a while, probably ten years on and off, mostly playing at a semi or literate level even in combat or commerce style settings. I tend towards settings with magic, in one form or another, and enjoy the act of developing characters as much as developing worlds. In addition to my play by post experience I have about 15 years of playing table top which anchors the way I play.

I will probably mostly be found in fantasy settings, though I might venture into the play by post table top setting if something looks really interesting.
