Oh wow, this looks really interesting. The mention of 'gravity' as an example affinity got me thinking of a character, so I'll see if I can get a CS up soon.
Sounds awesome so far. I'm heading to bed now, but I'll get his basic personality done as soon as I can tomorrow.

is the link back to the interest check! I don't know if it's needed or even wanted or whatever, but there it is. It's been 40 hours and my prospective partner seems to have died, so: Although I'm open to other ideas. Pitch 'em if you've got 'em.

I'd be up for that if the other person doesn't turn up. I'm planning on making a male Knight, though beyond that I have nothing set in stone, so I could build him with the relationship in mind.
Name: Ethan Urhart
Age: 19 (a few weeks younger than his partner, Beth, though he likes to hide that fact.)
Gender: Male

Equipment:
A simple dagger that has a weight and balance similar to his Artifact, Carnwennan.

Paired with: Beth Green

Emotional bond description:
This is a tough one, but hate is the most prominent emotion in their relationship. He hates that Beth treats him badly and seems to dislike him. He hates himself for treating her just as badly to get her attention. He hates that he's too much of a coward to tell her how he feels about her. And he most hates the fact that he finds excuses to convince himself to be happy with the way things are.

Artifact(Knight only): Carnwennan, the Dagger

A dagger that shrouds Ethan in wisps of black mist when summoned. Ethan can intensify this mist so that it obscures his movements. In light, it doesn't help much, but when he's under the cover of shadows, the mists can make him essentially invisible by using a strange form of supernatural eye trickery to make him blend in. It can teleport him from one shadow to another in a small explosion of mist, but Ethan has an extremely hard time using this ability, often ending up disorientated and off-balanced.
Thomas attempted to find Cole, who had slipped away during the destruction of the roof. He leaped from building to building, alternating between running with just his legs and on all fours.

As the minutes turned into hours, though, it was clear he had lost the man. As strong as Thomas' Tome made him in a fight, it didn't give him anything like an enhanced sense of smell. That would have been useful, as a rat like Cole was likely to have a distinct odor.

Despite how hopeless it seems, Thomas continued searching, his face growing hotter and hotter with frustration as time went by. He kept his eyes on the streets, looking for any signs, but came up with nothing.

Goddammit, goddammit, goddammit!

His desire to find Cole was overwhelming, as it was enhanced by his Tome. Breaking down in frustration, he had something of a temper tantrum, shrieking while punching and kicking anything in sight. Brick was shattered and sent into the air as dust, and metal vents and pipes were smashed and thrown off the roof.

Destroying things didn't give him the satisfaction he was hoping for, making him even more angry.

Before he freaked out further, however, Thomas was able to think clearly for a moment. He took advantage of it and ripped his Tome off of his face. The armor that surrounded him quickly receded into the mask.

The boy doubled over, suddenly hit with exhaustion since he was no longer being physically enhanced. Through heavy pants he threw up. After getting that out of his system he fell backwards onto his rear, spitting a few times to get the taste out of his mouth.

He groaned as he laid down on his back, limbs spread out. This insane feeling of tiredness had happened a few times before, but never this badly. Every muscle ached, and even the cement, uneven roof felt comfortable.

With another grunt of pain, Thomas placed his head on the ground and stared at the sky. A moment later, he was asleep, holding his book-form Tome tightly in his hand.
Double post, ignore.
Finally posted, sorry that took so long. I'm on vacation until Sunday and don't have a ton of time to write.
Relief flooded through Izzy upon hearing Haunt's words. She felt herself beginning to calm down, and managed to look up at him and speak with a slightly-less shaky voice.

"I've been working on it for a few years now, so it isn't as bad as it used to be..." she said, before her eyes snapped back to the ground and she fought back a blush. "And, um... I promise to do everything I can to keep you safe... for what that's worth."

Her panic attacks always hit her when she felt like she couldn't do anything about a situation she didn't like. But in SAO, if she leveled up and got stronger, she could help Haunt and anyone else survive. She wouldn't be forced to watch as people died.

She looked up at Haunt again, recomposed. With a small, shy smile, she said "I guess we should make our way to the next town. We can try to level up on the way."
Izzy pulled her hood back slightly as Haunt jumped down to meet her. He apologized about the scene he had made, which she hadn't really noticed. He had only been trying to help the panicked crowd, so she searched for the right words to tell him that he had nothing to apologize for.

Being the terrible conversationalist she was, she couldn't find them.

Haunt looked away, seemingly considering his next words. He spoke, and Izzy listened intently. Then, almost nervously, he finished by saying "What I'm trying to ask is... Do you want to be my partner for clearing the game?"

Her eye's widened and she felt her heart flutter ever-so-slightly.

She stumbled terribly through her response. "I-I'd really, um, really like that..." Her gaze quickly fell to her feet, and she felt herself blushing slightly, prompting her to pull her hood back up so that it hid her face a little better.

And she realized she was wearing a small smile. She couldn't remember the last time she had smiled with someone other than her sister. The moment passed quickly, however, when she also realized that Haunt didn't know about her panic attacks yet. She had to tell him, especially if they'd be fighting together.

"Oh, and, um, I should also apologize... for running away. I had a... a panic attack, and when I have them I always feel like escaping..." she said, still staring at the ground. Her face reddened further from the embarrassment of telling Haunt about her problem. "I h-have them kind of often, actually..." She began to tremble softly, causing her to hug herself in an attempt to conceal it from Haunt.

"I m-might be a burden on y-you if we travel t-together... s-so I understand if you change your m-mind..." she said quietly, fighting back the tears that stung her eyes. She was surprised by how afraid she was that he would take back his offer. She felt like a terrible person for dropping this on him so suddenly, but she didn't want to have him find out at a time where it could put them in danger.

She hugged herself tighter, making herself as small as possible as she waited for Haunt's reply.
It took Izzy far longer than it should have for her to find the square. It was her fault for not paying attention when she had been running away earlier, but she couldn't help it at the time.

She stumbled around, avoiding people as much as she could while trying to recognize any landmarks that would help her find her way. She was looking for the town's plaza for God's sake, she shouldn't be having this much trouble.

After a few more minutes of somewhat aimless wandering later, she heard distant yelling and cheering. She picked up her pace, knowing she was close. A moment later, she found the entrance to the square. There was still a decent sized crowd, but it was far smaller than before.

Standing on the statue at the center of the open area was Haunt. Izzy was hit with a wave of relief, and she pushed through the crowd hastily, no longer caring about politeness.

It was kind of strange how happy she was to see him. All she knew about him was his in-game name - nothing more. But he was the most familiar face in this new world, and that was all the reason she needed to keep moving forward.
