[BIOGRAPHY]
Born an only child to an average married couple in Osaka, Hana didn't stay there for long. Her parent's work involved constant moving, leading to the already naturally timid girl having an impossible time making and keeping any friends, stunting her socially--though she did enjoy the constant changes in scenery, as she was (and is) quite active and adventurous despite her personality.
Proving to be a gifted child, she began to think more and more about Academy City, realizing it'd likely be the best place in the world for her--stability to let her finally settle in to one place for the first time, and the wonder brought by a city full of Espers to sate her adventurous side. And so that became her goal, reached rather quickly when she found herself managing to be accepted into Tokiwadai Middle School and officially making the move away from her parents and to the city. Surrounded by exceptional individuals now, it pushed her to really give it her all, allowing her to excel--in everything but making friends, unfortunately. However, she did notice that doing well meant getting positive attention, and so she continued to improve, soon finding herself among the Level 4s of the city, certain she still had plenty more room to grow.
Now having graduated from Tokiwadai near the top of the pack, she's starting her first year at Shidarezakura Academy. Not a whole lot has changed since she first arrived in Academy City, other than growing more comfortable with her surroundings, something unusual for someone so used to constant moving--though that's also being somewhat flipped on its head thanks to the new school. Regardless, her future seems fairly lined up and secure, with the impressive results she puts up even among her elite peers.
Thankfully, between improving herself and all the stimulation offered by the city, she hasn't found herself dwelling too much on her loneliness, and she stays somewhat optimistic that she has to eventually start making friends, right? Maybe once she reaches Level 5, or saves a bunch of people and makes the news or... something. She doesn't think about it too much because that's when she starts to worry and feel especially alone.

[PERSONALITY]
Hana tends to come off as aloof on first impression, due to a few factors. So focused on becoming stronger, she doesn't often spend time socializing, though this isn't something she's necessarily happy about. Naturally introverted, she has a hard time communicating, but she does enjoy the company of others she trusts--and it's not too difficult to gain her trust. While appearing distant, she's actually very quick to grow attached to another, but often feels bad about her lack of ability when it comes to being a fun person to be around.
For matters outside of socializing, however, she tends to be more capable and confident. Hana is a quick learner, with a very notable determination of steel. Along with much time alone and to herself, it all leads to her doing exceptionally well in her studies, in developing her power, and in bettering herself in general.
What drives her at her core is a desire to be recognized for her achievements--as a way to cope with her inability to make friends the 'normal' way, she hopes to get attention for the impressive things she can do instead. This results in her coming off as perhaps worryingly self-sacrificial, willing to help most anyone who needs it, with whatever problems there may be. Counter to her aloofness, she is prone to bursts of intense emotions that can lead to poor decision-making, though she can usually hide these behind a straight face.

[ESPER POWER]
Assimilation (Level 4):
Hana can absorb matter through physical contact and use it to give herself shapeshifting capabilities. This shapeshifting can take the form of both 'add-ons' such as larger, clawed hands of steel, or can literally replace her body. Skin, organs, bone, veins--all of it can be replaced by matter, becoming wholly a part of her being. While solid matter is the easiest for her to absorb, gaseous and liquid substances can both be assimilated as well. Obvious complications that would arise from having parts of her body be these materials are ignored, due to them being fully part of her body structure once absorbed--assimilated fire taking the form of her lungs will not burn her, as her lungs normally wouldn't burn her. Similarly, an arm made of water will retain the shape of an arm, as the limb otherwise wouldn't lose its shape if it were made of natural skin and bone--essentially, assimilated matter cannot directly cause Hana harm in any way.
She is currently limited to only being able to assimilate matter up to her natural mass, but isn't limited in the number of different kinds of material she can have at once. Once assimilated, the girl has much control over the matter, allowing her to quickly move it around her body--one moment, she might have giant steel hands, while a second later the steel is instead replacing her torso. This control can also be used to generate kinetic energy to enhance blows and expel matter from her body as projectiles, by rapidly shifting the matter from one point of her body to another. Once matter is expelled and no longer in any sort of physical contact with her however, it is no longer 'assimilated' and she loses all control over it.
Hana has most focused on developing her ability to hit things hard, defending herself from equally hard hits, creating a pseudo form of regeneration by using matter to temporarily patch herself up, and has spent extra time figuring out how to expel things from her being with as much force as possible (the best she can consistently pull off involves rotating a chunk of matter around her torso several times to build up speed, and then launching it up her arm and out her palm, motioning as though she were actually throwing something for good measure. That extra action may or may not actually help at all, but its certainly satisfying, and the end result is impressive all the same. She's convinced it helps her aim, at least, which is probably true).
Regarding organic matter, a certain level of sentience seems to bring with it full resistance to being directly affected by her ability. Humans and animals cannot be assimilated in any fashion, but plants can be.

[MISCELLANEOUS]
Skills: An impressively quick learner, Hana can process and digest new information with ease. She's also quite acrobatic and flexible thanks to an interest in gymnastics, helping to keep her in great shape for a kid her age. Surprisingly good at telling when someone is feeling down due to her strong sense of empathy, but less good at cheering them up. Extremely determined once she decides to do something. A strong student with her quick learning despite difficulties with studying due to being rather restless. With her power having high potential for combat, she's naturally been pushed towards being adept at such, and can transfer her quick learning into quick thinking under pressure, finding she actually does better when placed under stress.
Finally, she's quite adept at creating sculptures of sorts with her power, and then painting them to finish it off. While it takes quite a bit of effort, it lets her make her own little figures for any anime or whatnot that might catch her attention rather than having to pay up for one. She often thinks of making some for people as a way to make friends, but hasn't gone through with that plan yet for fear of coming off as weird (as though she doesn't accomplish that at least a little bit naturally).
Ambition: Hana wants most to form meaningful relationships with people she likes. Part of her master plan to accomplish this involves honing her Esper capabilities to the point of potentially reaching Level 5, and using said abilities to make her name a household one. Or, at the very least, be thought of as someone who's very useful to have around for the assistance she can provide.
