It's interesting being the indecisive introverted leader of your group of very indecisive introverted friends.

It's fun to think that play-by-post roleplays are basically just one giant rough draft.

A quick thank you to Mahz and his minions for making this site into what it is! I've yet to encounter a RP site so aesthetically & OCD pleasing. You guys are the best!

She, actually! The sad thing is that, though the topic came up because of movies, my head’s been focused on books, so I was not even thinking of movies/shows. My gosh, I couldn’t choose with that included! Toothless, Mushu, Draco (from Dragonheart), The Great Dragon from the BBC Merlin, Falcor, Haku as you mentioned… Yeah, no. Not gonna happen. I LOVE THEM ALL!
Hey, you never know! Some lizards have ‘dragon’ in their name, after all.

Keep telling me that, and you’re going to end up giving me a big ego. xD I’ve always felt like my characters end up being one of my weaknesses, so I’m glad you’re enjoying them, as well as the plot so far! Like I think I’ve said, if at any point in time it feels like it’s going slow or you have any concerns, ideas, or suggestions, speak up!

That’s how it goes, isn’t it? Write something when you’re half asleep, and it’s either going to be absolutely brilliant, or completely incoherent. Man, I said it last time, but poor Ghent! He has the insults coming from all sides! *Pats the character’s head.* It’s okay, Ghent. I have faith in you.

I love that our characters break a few of the gender stereotypes.

Indeed. D-:< And yep, I tried to get to sleep around five in the morning—my old usual—but that didn't happen. Then my cat woke me up just as I was falling asleep.

Alrighty. If you stumble on anything I forgot to add, let me know!

I didn’t, but it’s a great post! Made me laugh a couple times. Good emotion and actions with both of them, and you play "crazy" quite well. But maybe Drust, Miles, and Elayra are the sane ones, and Ghent’s the one who’s crazy? xD

Good question! If a Jumper was trying to find it, yeah, they’d be capable of sensing one nearby, but otherwise, they’d have to be practically on top of it to know it’s there if they weren’t actively searching for one. When the portals (and Jumpers) are at full strength, it would feel almost like a physical pull, but at the moment, the magic to the portals themselves is weak so there would be no guiding tug, only maybe a faint hunch that it must be somewhere fairly close by, and would take a lot of effort to track it down. Mix that with diluted senses from too much alcohol, and you’d have why Miles would likely need our guys to find one. Most portals were normally fixed in place, so someone experienced enough with the world in question could know where a fair amount of them were, but because they sealed themselves off, they would have switched locations as an extra protective measure when they reopened. Which means, once the magic wears thin and they close again, Earth’s will switch up a second time.

Sound good? Anything you want to tweak?

A hint of concern settled in Izzy’s eyes when Riley cracked his back. At least he had apparently mostly recovered from his own encounters with the Wolf. She nodded and watch him head toward an unblocked window, its glass long since shattered and boards pried off.
“Thanks for the suggestions,” she said just before he glanced back, avoiding any form of the word ‘help.’ Though it was infuriating—and terrifying—that she would have to go it alone, he had had at least, in his own way, helped.
She nodded stiffly at his parting words, unsure if he saw the action before he disappeared. If it came to that, to her life or Trevor’s, could she—would she—willingly take him out to saver her own skin? She bit her lower lip.
She took a deep, steadying breath. That was a problem she could worry about later. Right now, she needed to figure out the how, where, and what. She had the Aberration Slayer, but she needed a backup plan, in case Riley was right, and it failed her. What remained of the school’s playground might work for the where, with the few bits of weathered equipment that remained. Perhaps those could even be used against the Wolf, if needed, and there had to be something around the school she could round up to use. After all, the only people who may miss anything from either place were taggers. As for luring the Wolf to the abandoned school…
Izzy took her phone from her jeans’ pocket, ignoring the late hour that flashed up on the screen before she unlocked it. Maybe she would get lucky, and he would check his phone. Perhaps a distress message would get his attention.
She went to the messages between Trevor and her still in the folder. If, say, she was to play that what she had done to Cerasus was slowly wearing off, perhaps it would appeal both to Trevor to come to her as a friend in need, while the potential threat of two vampires getting in the Wolf’s way would make it want to show up as well.
Then, of course, there was being capable of keeping up with it in the first place. That was the first thing she needed to figure out. Before scavenging. Before messaging Trevor. She doubted there was any trap she could set up, any plans she could make without getting herself killed in a fraction of a second without being at least close to equal with its strength and speed.
Izzy looked to the vampire’s corner, running a hand through the lose portion of her hair. At least the turning point would be obvious. However, she had no idea what he, in turn, would become strong enough to do. But her only other options were to leave the Wolf to wreak havoc as it willed in her friend's body, or become dog chow.
For Trevor, she thought, exhaling slowly. And the hundreds of others the Wolf would attack, otherwise.
She unwound the flowing fabric of the scarf from her neck, placed it on the desk behind the sword, then, holding her breath, stepped to the vampire child.
“Let’s get this over with, shall we?” Izzy said, trying to keep a quiver and her uncertainty from leaking into her voice as she sat down beside him as she had so many times before. Her heart pounded quicker in her chest at the thought of everything that could go wrong, starting with this step one. “I have a White Wolf to deal with.”
Hmm. It would be a good way for our guys to find out if they could actually work together in a fight. Otherwise, I don't like things thrown into a story just for the sake throwing them in there, or adding more action. It has to pertain to story progression somehow (unless we're talking video games or D&D. In that case, BRING ON THE EXP!). It leads to something, develops something/one, shows something important... Maybe the highwaymen/insert-desired-race-here were hired by the Carishes to find out if they can work together, considering their usual loner ways? Just a thought. Maybe one of them could have a slip of the tongue or something that ignites a spark of suspicion. Or, you know, not.

Let me know what you think about that, and if you care about what race, and I'll set it up my next post!

Potential. At that point, Izzy would gladly take a ‘potential’ plan over no plan.
“Even though I’m the one who thought of it?” She gave a half-hearted smile, then nodded slowly at Riley’s suggestion of luring the Wolf to her. “I can probably figure something out for Trevor, but what would I need to get the White Wolf to willingly come after me?” She tried to push aside the anxiety the thought created. “Just to cover all the bases.”
Izzy’s brows rose incredulously at Riley’s smile. So there was something. Surprise colored her face at the revelation of what feeding the vampire child did. She glanced toward his corner, her gaze not quite reaching it, before looking back to Riley.
Her face paled at the concept of the vampire ‘reasserting his dominance.’ Her hands formed fists again from their places crossed at her chest.
“Yeah,” she began, her voice quiet, yet stiff from the thought. She was suddenly not sure which frightened her more: the White Wolf, or Cerasus returning to power--and undoubtedly facing his wrath. “You can say that again.” She took a slow breath, looking once more toward the vampire’s corner. “Let me guess. It’d be difficult at best to tell when I got near that ‘point of no return.’”
Awesome. Good luck, and enjoy! ^.^

Yeah, of course! Returning the patience you've given me is the least I can do. I mean, I've made you wait a long while how many times now?

In the moment of quiet that fell, Izzy took a deep breath, then carefully leaned the sword against a nearby desk as Riley broke the silence.
She looked up to him when he said ‘as a friend.’ Though she had not exactly thought about them like that, she supposed they really were. Odd friends with an even odder past and a complicated relationship, but still. That also about described her friendship with Trevor. Something he had said to her what felt like a few lifetimes ago crossed her mind; ‘It's possible to make friends, even when you don't mean to.’ A fraction of a smile quirked at the corner of her lips at the thought, before her attention went fully to Riley as the man lifted three fingers.
She nodded. She glanced to the sword at its mention, then suppressed a frustrated groan at his objection. As loath as she was to admit it, he was probably right.
She gave the sword an almost dirty look. Can’t anything ever be easy? Just for once?
She turned an irritated stare to him at the question he posed, and crossed her arms. “Well gee, thanks for the vote of confidence.” Sarcasm dripped from her words, but, again, a small voice inside her poked at her that he made a good point. After all, Trevor could outwit her in his sleep.
She inhaled at his second point, her emotions displayed on her face, including a flicker of fear of facing the Wolf alone, before determination settled back over her features. Alone it would be, then.
When he finished, she stood there for a moment, her eyes narrowed and teeth chewing on her bottom lip in thought.
“What about trying to track it not as an aberration,” she began slowly, looking to a shadowy corner without really seeing it, “but as Trevor? He’s still in there somewhere. The Wolf and Trevor mixed together. It knows what Trevor knows, but it also had at least one of his mannerisms. Maybe more.” She sighed heavily, and glanced to the sword again. “But even if I did find it, it can move too fast for me to even see it,” she grumbled. She ran a hand through her hair. “Don’t suppose there’s something out there that could temporarily give me my vampire abilities back, is there?” she asked dubiously. “Or that could slow it down so it couldn’t rip off my head before I could so much as blink?”
I hate when that happens! Inspiration: it can be a fickle thing at times. Just know that there's no rush, or pressure! Do what you can, when you can, and most importantly, don't stress over it; have fun! That's what we're here for, after all, right?
Oh boy. I honestly haven’t thought about that. *Tries to think of all the books I’ve read with dragons.* Maybe Kazul from the Enchanted Forest Chronicles. But it has been a really long time since I’ve read anything based round them. They’re all on either my "To Read" or “Reread” list. How about you? Have a favorite fictional dragon?

Sadly, it’s not on there right now. Again, yay for libraries. xD If they don’t have a copy, maybe they could get one in for you.

With the “As you wish?” Yep! That was the first thing that came to mind when I read that. I’ve seen most of it. Admittedly, I didn’t see it until fairly recently. Heh, yep, that I do. More than I probably should! And that those two have no idea where the references are from makes it that much more amusing, I say!

I concur! ^.^ Including with the music.

Still loving your guys, and that even Miles lacks confidence in Ghent’s fighting abilities. xD Poor Ghent. Also, this line: “The only sound louder than Ghent's own heart pounding was the click of the pistol.” ❤ ❤ I mean, I like it all, but that stood out.

Glad you approve! If you want, I can add the first page mentioned to each one. I really only did that with the places so I can go back and check out my exact descriptions for them if need be. And hey, it did something, so of course it made the list! :-D Also, my OCD is why it’s organized!
Hey!

Honestly, I want to say sure. In part because pretty much every RP where I had a male MC died, and I miss playing male MCs. But I’m currently at a comfortable limit with my current schedule, which I have no idea what it's going to do at the moment. If that changes, though, I will let you know if you would like!
To Elayra’s relief, Ghent had understood. Almost as quickly as she had drawn her dagger, he lunged between the two front seats at Miles’ arm. Trying to make sure to give Ghent ample room as he grappled with Miles for the gun, she reached her other arm around to the front along with her weapon to try forcing Miles’ back into the seat so he had less leverage. The garbage littering the floor shifted beneath her feet as she partially stood to get as good a grip as possible around both seat and man.
Luckily for Miles, even in his insanity, he had enough sense to give in at the lick of the dagger’s blade. His roar made their triumph glitter in her eyes. At last, they had the upper hand against him. And Ghent had even played his part well.
The triumph turned into rage as she let their situation fully settled in her. Now, she had no need to play the obedient peacekeeper. They were at no one's mercy but time's.
“Shut it,” she hissed in his ear at his all but incoherent rant as Ghent gave his own order. She spared him half a glance when he raised his commandeered weapon, wondering if he could even use it without her getting caught in the crossfire.
She checked her grip on the dagger, keeping it firm and her arm steady in case Miles decided to try pulling it from him, or had another trick hidden up his sleeve. Incapable of seeing his face well from her position, she kept an eye out for any sign he planned to retaliate, her body ever ready to react should he so much as twitch, a predator watching its rival. She snorted and opened her mouth to respond to his prediction, but Ghent beat her to it.
At his demand for Miles to get out, she shot Ghent a glance that said, ‘Not yet!’ but she did not dare look away from Miles for long. He seemed about as confident of Ghent’s abilities with the gun as she was, and did not appear to be taking her threat much more seriously, to her annoyance. It made him only that much more unpredictable.
She smirked when Ghent gave his warning about her. In emphasis, she adjusted the blade and added enough pressure behind it so it was unnervingly close to breaking skin.
“While it wouldn’t surprise me if Ghent passed out at the sight of blood,” she began in a low, menacing voice. Her smirk faded, replaced with dour indignation and determination, “it doesn’t bother me one bit. So, unless you want your corpse to provide a distraction for the cops, you’re going to answer a few questions. Lie, and I’ll make sure you die slowly. Simple as that.”
She took a quick breath, giving him little room to object before spitting the first of her questions at him, closely watching his reactions as well as she could, using the rearview mirror to her advantage. “Who are you, Miles? Why are you after us? By order of the Red Queen?” Though she was certain the Sorceress would not use someone like him, she had to ask. “How do you know about the portals?”
