Current Trying to get back into the swing of things (for a 2nd time!)

Bio

Hi there I'm Rultaos, or simply Rult as some of my friends call me. I first got into RP'ing on two different sites back when I was in High School. The forums of the games Minecraft and Spiral Knights. Both had game-related RP's, as well as off-topic ones regarding fantasy and sci-fi. This was around 3-4 years ago. I wasn't really good at it back then, but I met a lot of great people and feel like I really improved since then.

For any of you who are curious, this was one of my biggest RP undertakings before I got into this site (My username also comes from this as a tribute to it!). It's not really a very well-written roleplay (or a very well-managed one for that matter). But it really meant a lot to me because of how far it went, how long it survived, and how it inspired my fellow players there. It always fills me with a sense of nostalgia whenever I glance at it in my bookmarks...

I got into RPGuild back when it was still using the old server (the one that got taken down after Mahz got behind on his pay and the providers ended their service without warning). I was pretty bummed when this happened because I was already actively participating in a number of roleplays, and I could only stay in contact with a select few guildmates on the Facebook group. Eventually, the long wait was over, and the site was given renewed life after a few bumps in the road that guildmaster Mahz faced in his attempts to resurrect this place. It was a good day for many including myself when this site slowly started getting more and more features.

2014 was my second year in college and was a very stressful time for me. Mostly concerning academics, with a few occasional problems regarding friends and fellow students alike. Because of this, I had to suddenly drop out of roleplaying for a while in order to have the time to get my real life back in order.

Now, I've returned to the site, and am hoping to get back into the groove of roleplaying and make more great friends and have even greater adventures through whatever huge universe your brilliant minds can think of! If you wanna invite me to play, or even just have a friendly chat about anything, send a message my way and I'll reply as soon as I can =)

For those of you who are wondering, my roleplay interests include: Sci-Fi, Military, sometimes Fantasy, a Fandom one if I'm familiar with the source material, heck I'd be willing to dabble in an Apocalypse setting as well. I'm also willing to try new things as well if it seems fascinating enough. So hit me up with an idea any time and I'd be happy to share my thoughts with you.

Well, I feel like I've used up enough for your time. Thanks for caring enough to read all this, and I hope you enjoy your roleplay adventures as much as I have in the past and the present ^_^

I meant putting in the Last Name before the First Name, as documents usually have it XD
@ Hayley: Character accepted! I like how you kept the vibe of it being some sort of official file/document on someone =). Though my only criticism is that there is information on what she has been up to after the city went to Hell. No one is supposed to know what people have been up to after the riots ended. Anything your character has been doing ever since the infection broke out (and also what equipment they're carrying) should be explained in their first IC post. But I guess that's my fault for forgetting to put that in XD. I'll edit the OP to have that as well as some ground rules.

Also, if anyone has any questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

EDIT: Looks like you ninja'd me, Chenzor . Anyway, accepted as well!

EDIT EDIT: Woops, looks like you guys forgot the right way to put in the names (and so did I XD). I guess we're just used to RP apps having the names like that. I'll edit it myself.

[COMMENCING DATABANK UPDATE. . . ]
The nights following the massacre at the abandoned village were filled with fear, regret, and nightmares for Varkasan. He wondered just how competent they were to dealing with the Mage threat if there were people like Revain and his subordinates who were magic juggernauts and simply tore through the ranks of countless Paladins. He dreaded that there may come a time where the people he defended would be at the mercy of men like The Azure Sorcerer, and he would be powerless to stop them.

When the news reached Varkasan that they would go to the fortress of The Inquisitors for training and promotion, he was actually relieved (despite him knowing it meant more hardships ahead). Because this meant that he had the opportunity to become stronger, and be able to better protect others from powerful Mages. He made a quick return to The Guardians' Guild House to get his supplies packed and say goodbye to his comrades.

Aradus wished him good fortune, and even gave him a small blue gemstone, the size of a pebble. "This was given to me by a dwarven smith I saved from some bandits being led by a Mage. He said it was a lucky charm that had worked for him for a long time, and that I had only found him and rescued him because he was carrying it. He gave it to me hoping that it would give me the luck it had given him. I've carried it in my pocket during every assignment I've had, and I'm still alive aren't I? So now I'll give this to you. You're going to need all the help you can get if you're going to be with The Inquisitors." He explained. "Thank you, friend. I promise to put its powers to good use." Varasan answered; touched by the gesture. Kagax was still obviously displeased by the fact that Varkasan had outshone him, but he still managed to force out a few words of congratulations and best wishes. "I'm sure... You will continue to keep surprising us all...And, err.. Try not to do anything foolish and die." Kagax said with pained pauses. Varkasan smiled. "I promise to do so." He replied. Janus was still confined to an infirmary, as the wounds he had sustained were greater than they thought. But with whatever energy he had in him, he spoke to Varkasan. "Do it for the fallen... and for the living..." Janus said. Varkasan nodded. "I shall." The young Paladin replied.

After a few more farewells by fellow squads who all gave their words of encouragement, Varkasan was on his way to meet up with the other candidates and a guide back in Liria, before heading together to the Inquisitorial Fortress.
There wasn't anything notable about the ride up the plateau (aside from a few scary moments as they traversed the tight corners and saw what awaited them at the bottom of the fall), the first thing that had amazed Varkasan was the large spherical Light shield that surrounded the Fortress. He knew such a feat took a great amount of energy and skill (even for the most experienced of Paladins), and that the effects could not only be physical; it probably affected any Magic within it as well. Entering through the shield and past the walls of the Fortress, Varkasan felt safe for the first time in the last few days. This was a place that would not fall easily to even the most determined of Mage attacks.

They were then led to their rooms. Varkasan was a little surprised to find that the room was much better than his quarters at their Guild House barracks. "One would think that we would be thrown into much hardship during this training... Perhaps this is meant to be a breather in between the tougher moments we will go through." Varkasan thought.

He then quickly unloaded his luggage and began sorting them out. Seeing the table while he carried his things around, he made a mental note to write to his parents later tonight, as news of his training at the Inquisitorial Fortress may have reached their ears by now. After his room became slightly more personalized with his sorting, he put on his armor and proceeded to the practice range for the first part of his training.
The practice range reminded Varkasan of the shooting gallery used by Aradus and other long-ranged Paladins back at The Guardians' training base, with targets set up in different kinds of positions you would find enemies in battle: Some out in the open, others behind cover with small portions exposed, and others completely protected by cover so that shots had to be done in a perfect arc to hit them.

Varkasan once attempted to use bows and crossbows, but he didn't have the finesse to handle a bow, and he found the crossbow to be slow and unwieldy. He felt a little afraid that perhaps that was the kind of ranged warfare that he and the others were to practice. But his fear was immediately replaced with curiosity when they were given a strange bracer-mounted crossbow.

The instructor explained to them what "The Stinger" was and how it would be used. It was definitely much faster and allowed more agility than a regular crossbow, and seemed easier to use than a bow and arrow. "Perhaps this will finally allow me to have some ranged capability in anti-Mage combat!" Varkasan thought excitedly as he secured the bracer to his right arm (his sword-arm) and examined the small weapon. The Dwarves had always impressed him and many others with their ability to not only create machines, but also how intricate and detailed they were with it. He then grabbed a "magazine", as they called it, and attached it to the spot the instructor had shown them. It easily snapped on, and (careful not to trigger the weapon with unnecessary movements) Varkasan very slowly raised his arm to take aim.

He decided to start with a fairly easy one: a moderately distant target standing in the open in front of him. He carefully lined up the weapon with the target's middle area and tried to steady his aim using his left arm to hold the right one in place. "Ready... Steady... Aaaaand...-". Just as he was about to shoot, a small Stinger bolt whizzed past him, mere inches away from his face.

"GAH!" He exclaimed as he fell backwards out of impulse. He watched the bolt embed itself into the wall as he heard Alicia exclaim "Oops!". However, he accidentally triggered his own Stinger during the fall, causing a bolt to fly off over the practice range and onto the top of the wall where a couple of guards were making their rounds. "LOOK OUT!" Varkasan quickly shouted to warn them. They heard him, and looked just in time to get out of the way of the stray bolt. "WATCH WHERE YOU'RE SHOOTING!" One of the guards shouted at the candidates angrily, waving his fist in the air "Sorry!" Varkasan replied with a weaker shout.

He got up from the ground and turned to Alicia and the Instructor. He noticed another Stinger bolt sticking out from the ground near Alicia's feet while she herself seemed embarrassed by the effects of the stray shots. "Sir, perhaps we shouldn't have started out with using real bolts..." Varkasan said to the Instructor.

After the hair-raising close calls, Varkasan finally managed to get to practice easily with The Stinger as he fired upon different targets. He needed a lot of trial and error experimentation in order to understand how much wrist movement would activate it, and how far he could move his hand without accidental misfires (though he always kept it pointed at walls or targets, just in case). Aiming was an easier affair, though he needed extra effort to steady his arm if he wanted to hit a precise spot on the target. While he could now use it without accidental shots, it would definitely affect his sword technique if he was using The Stinger while wielding a blade. Not to mention being able to be agile in a fight while equipped with it. He would need more practice for that.

[Varkasan now knows the basics of using The Stinger. However, he will still have trouble when using it while moving quickly, or in conjunction with his sword and shield]
OOC is up! Feel free to post discussions and characters there

OOC Stuff:

Here are some rules we'll be following in the course of the RP. If there is something you feel should be added, let me know and I'll consider it.

1. Standard Guild rules apply

2. As GM, my word is law. I'll be open to suggestions and ideas, but I'll have the final say on whatever happens

3. For your first IC post, make sure you detail what kind of equipment your character is carrying, as well as some things they have been doing to survive to ever since the outbreak. You are allowed the freedom the select what sort of starting equipment your character will have, but keep it within the scope of realism. Soldiers will obviously go in with a lot of equipment and will be better suited for surviving and diving into the Quarantine Zone, while citizens will start with a more scarce supply. This is fair because while citizens will be focused on surviving and escaping danger, the soldiers must willingly go into the danger-zones for their job.

3. No Godmodding without my permission. Only I have the power to make large-scale events happen. However, if there's something you want to do which will affect other players, give me the details either through PM or the OOC thread first, and if I agree with it, I'll give you permission to do it.

4. No invincible/unkillable characters. Characters are flesh and blood humans just as susceptible to death as the next guy. So act like it! Have your character preserve their life the best they can, but if they get themselves into a really bad situation, they should not be getting out of there unscathed. And if they do something stupid, they better suffer the consequences.

5. Following the above rule, no Mary Sues and Gary Stus allowed in here. Make your characters unique with various strengths and weaknesses

6. No overpowering characters during PvP. If you get into a fight with another Player-Character, both of you should have an equal chance of victory and defeat, a chance to strike and defend, and the result of the fight must be agreed upon by both players involved. Do not automatically make yourself the victor without even giving the other player a chance to respond.

7. No player-character killing without the permission of the Player controlling them. You CANNOT just fire a gun and kill a PC. Only if the Player who owns them agrees to their death will it be acceptable.

8. Romance between characters is allowed, but keep it appropriate. Considering they're in the middle of an unkillable zombie outbreak, they probably have bigger concerns . Though if you really must... Then take all Rated-18 IC to the PM's

9. IC swearing is fine (considering the horror and gory nature of this RP, it's pretty obvious this isn't for a young audience XD). But don't overuse it and cuss every few sentences. Use only when appropriate or fitting.

10. Have fun and play nice. Basically just do what you feel will be enjoyable for you in the course of this RP =). But use your common sense to avoid annoying or hurting anyone else. IC hating and fighting is fine (as that may end up being inevitable for characters), but I will not stand for fights in the OOC. So don't start anything in here. Or I will start swinging the banhammer

11. If you're going to disappear or be inactive for sometime (for any reason), please let us know in the OOC. This way we'll know who we're waiting for and if we should slow down for anyone who may be getting left behind.
OOC is nearly ready, expect it to be up in a short while =)
I'm going to assume that we're going to be mostly incompetent with this new weapon, considering we're used to swords and stuff as opposed to a ranged weapon. Along with the fact that it's a new weapon that can be triggered by so much as moving your wrist XD.

is it alright if I have two characters? I'm split between making a clone commando and a Jedi and I was wondering if I could just skip that decision and make both.

Well... I'm not sure what Nariata would think on this, but for my character, it was a Clone Commando with a squad of fellow Commando NPC's. I suppose you could do the same thing and have the Jedi as your main character, while the Commando becomes an important NPC for them. Just a suggestion though.
Well this is awkward, my character is also a clone with an affinity for "sighting" things XD. They may or may not get along =)
”Why don’t you try shooting the enemy instead of just spotting them?”

Name: RC-4129 “Spotter”/”29”

Race: Human/Mandalorian Clone
Age: Accelerated aging has made his age ambiguous, though he looks to be in his late thirties
Sex: Male

Affiliation: Grand Army of The Republic
Rank: Squad Leader

Physical Description:

Underneath the armor, he resembles every other Clone in the GAR. Though he is bald, and has a tattoo of a third eye on his forehead.

Mental Description: Trained with his squad from his days as a child on Kamino, Spotter has a strong bond with them. He is willing to put himself in the line of fire for his squad, but he also believes them to be capable enough to complete their duties. Excelling in psychological analysis during his training years, Spotter is able to predict the behavior of both allies and enemies, and often takes that into account for his next move. As a Commando, he is hardwired to follow orders to the letter, and often will not care for the loss of allies as long as it helps get the mission done. However, he is also granted a mind slightly more independent than some other Commandos to allow for advanced tactics on the battlefield. It is only when his squad is on the line that he begins to question commands. But like every clone, his loyalty to the Republic comes before any personal agendas.

History: Born and raised on Kamino, his role in the GAR was decided for him as he began commando training at an early age. He gained mediocre marks on many technical and combat exercises, and for a while they were unable to find anything special about him, other than an above average ability for psychological analysis. It was during his combat simulation training that he shined.

He showed exceptional skill in locating enemy targets and points of interest. They tested him further, and very few objects managed to escape his heightened awareness. He excelled even further when put in charge of his squad for the simulations. His skills in psychological analysis were honed, and he managed to both predict and counter several tactics thrown against his squad. His ability to spot both physical targets and enemy battle tactics earned him the nickname: “Spotter”.

His and his squad’s first taste of battle, like many other clones, was the bloodbath during the Battle of Geonosis, after being assigned into the Special Operations Brigade. The confusion of the hastily ordered attack on the CIS planet resulted in many casualties, but through skill and luck, Spotter’s team, Kappa Squad, managed to get off the planet alive while completing many (though not all) of their objectives. A few superiors took note of their squad’s ability to be able to formulate and execute battleplans on the field as the situation changed, and they found themselves being sent into quite a few high-risk operations throughout the Clone Wars. They fought behind the scenes in the liberation of Ryloth, assassinated several high-ranking leaders during the 2nd Battle of Geonosis, assisted in the defenses at the Battle of Kamino, and saw action on the dark moon of Umbara.

Umbara was where Spotter’s abilities were put to the ultimate test. Facing an enemy that they had little to no information about, and working with no reinforcements and jammed communications, Kappa Squad had to take in and use new information during every second of a firefight. New hostile weaponry forced them into hiding into any corner they could find and re-evaluating their situation. Once they had a new plan, they would start moving again, until another unexpected element stood in their way. Eventually, they managed to succeed in destroying an Umbaran munitions facility, and weakened the enemy forces enough to give the GAR a better chance to assault the capital. They managed to emerge from the moon alive, though they were both physically and mentally bruised, battered, and battle-weary.

They had a few other close calls, but somehow, they would always manage to get every member of the squad back alive.

Now, they are being called into action on the capital planet of Coruscant as the Droid Army makes landfall. With such overwhelming odds being stacked against the Republic, only The Force shall decide if Kappa Squad will survive another brutal bloodbath...

Equipment:
- Katarn-Class Commando Armor Mark-III
- DC-17m (Blaster/Sniper/Anti-Armor attachments)
- DC-15s Side-arm blaster
- Arm-Gauntlet Vibroblade
- Thermal Detonators
- Helmet-mounted Rangefinder (similar to the ones used by Clone Snipers)
- Breaching charges (For getting through locked doors)
- His team: Kappa Squad
