Tronstad was born in mid '98, just in time to see the government collapse. He doesn't remember much of his childhood besides the hardships. Being born into a middle class family doesn't help very much when the scope of the state crumbles a little more everyday. The financial burden grew heavier on Tronstad's family, but his father persevered and pumped his naive son with optimism. Tronstad remembers witnessing a hand full of violent incidents involving anti-government radicals and militarized police in the streets and how increasingly volatile they became. His father was a part of the police force himself before late into the protests he turned turned in his badge and joined his colleagues in a revolution against the state.
When Tronstad was a little older, he found himself living in the streets with his family. This lasted a few years until his father started taking on private contracts with various security firms to finally obtain a permanent residence. It became more and more obvious that conglomerates were gaining power. Despite this, Tronstad did not see his father very often as he had to work long hours in order to keep the family stable.
By 2018, the 20-year old Carter Tronstad was ambitious and wanted to follow in his fathers footsteps. Both his mother and his father caught a very deadly illness and it took his mothers life very quickly. His father, on the other hand, held out for a few more years. Tronstad managed his own life and decided it would be better to mourn elsewhere so he decided to turn his attention eastward and settle out in Neo-bay once the world events seemed less violent. Neo-bay wasn't exactly a picture perfect city, but Tronstad liked it better like that. He was interested in what it had to offer, even if what it was offering was dangerous.
There, he did work for an organized crime family as an associate. He spent a few more years extorting private companies and businesses for money, and expanding the territory that the crime family dealt with. Tronstad was shown the ropes by a few guys who were in the business for a while. He was taught everything: carjacking, lockpicking, drug dealing, extortion, you name it. He enjoyed the sense of freedom that it gave him; he liked not being tied down with the law, though he still had some concerns with rival firms. At the age of 25, Tronstad grew somewhat notorious, being known for his methods of intimidation and his effectiveness when it came to his job. His associates thought he had reached his power threshold and decided to whack him. Tronstad was beaten and had his right arm crushed by a truck. He was left for dead, but in the nick of time he was saved by a private military police force that had investigated the disturbance due to a call someone reported. With the technology available at the time, he was able to get a prosthetic limb for his right arm which he would later enhance to a cybernetic arm. Tronstad was tried in court and given the choice to be thrown in a private jail for life, or work as an informant for the private company. He took the duty of being an informant, and other security firms started to notice Tronstad's value of having criminal knowledge. He started doing contract work for various private military companies and security firms in attempts to retain some degree of order in Neo-Bay.
Carter continued taking the law into his own hands for 8 years working alongside private security companies. In a few instances, he became well acquainted with Mack Yancy, whom he had shared a few contracts with here and there. He knew Yancy as someone, who like Tronstad, wasn't drafted into the security business, but rather enlisted on his own accord. Yancy often called Tronstad in like a pundit when he needed some sort of key information on a local gang, or whether he just needed some extra muscle summoned. It would only be a matter of time before Carter Tronstad received his next call.
