Akilah Darwish

“Well, I appreciate an honest man.” She chuckled. Spending the rest of the day out on the town with Rayth did sound like a good time and Akilah could use the opportunity to stretch her legs. Some of the deckhands on The Peregrine had offered her some sightseeing suggestions as they were approaching the harbor, but she’d rather see what the mercenary considered worth while. Downing what remained in her tankard, she set the mug down with a satisfied thunk atop their wooden round table before accepting his offer.

“Let us go on our date then! Who knows when we’ll get another opportunity.” Akilah said and wiped her lips with her napkin before rising and hailing over a serving girl to take their empty plates. Reclaiming her staff that was left to rest against the wall to her right, the mage turned to her companion.

“While I am impressed you managed to wrangle our breakfast without charge, I highly doubt Minka would be so generous as to include lunch so I’ll take care of that and meet with you outside?” Akilah finished without waiting for his reply and made her way to the bar, the staff’s chimes muffled by the gentle roar of the lunch crowd. She wanted to square off her tab in it’s entirety with the innkeeper before she left early the next morning. Boats leave with the tides, not the winds.
Hirani Blen

The tidal wave of fear that she felt nearly sent Hirani over the edge and into the abyss. The twi’lek stumbled forward into the blast door, gasping for air like the hundreds of remaining clones that were ejected into the void of space. She nearly forgot that they had been safe on the bridge and fought to regain control of her mind, body, and soul. While she had felt the previous clones that Bocri flung out of the ship, these individuals were much closer and thus able to affect her so. The only comforting thought was that at least the ones she put asleep wouldn't register the pain their body was going through as it died.

Hirani inhaled deeply through her nose and exhaled slowly out of her mouth. She could understand why it had to be done, but perhaps he could have warned her so that she could have shielded herself from their plight. Moving forward, she would have to place a barrier on her mind from passively feeling the emotions of others as Hirani could only assume things would get worse from here. What she could never shut out, however, was Bocri. Their bond prevented her from closing herself off from him and him from her. She could feel his anger and he would most certainly have felt her panic.

Hirani opened her mouth to speak and croaked. Reaching into her bag, she grabbed her water canteen to help clear her throat. After two gulps, she tried again.

"What is the plan now? It's not like we can use this ship or any of it's fighters to leave this sector." Her voice was husky, but functioning. She took another swig to help it along.

Camila Rodriguez

Camila was exhausted. She had spent the last two days traveling across the country with her transport van that carried her personal dog, Kuma, and three K9s ready to take on the next part of their journey as working dogs. She leaned against the counter of her kitchen savoring the chocolaty taste of her coffee while she stared out into her living room filled with the boxes that contained all her belongings that she decided to bring with her on this big move out west. Some of the boxes had been opened so that she could set up the Keurig and have a much needed fresh cup of ‘warm me up’ drink.

Camila’s newly built cabin was set on a 80 acre property that she purchased about two years ago and shared the land with a 4,800sqft professional kennel. It took a lot of hard work to reach this point in her life and she was definitely proud of herself. The house and kennel had been built to her specifications so that they were both green and efficient. Taking care of the dogs this morning took nearly no time at all thanks to the indoor/outdoor kennel set up she now had.

A second cup of coffee was being brewed for her brother that was still getting ready in the bathroom. Luis had driven the U-Haul truck with her Jeep hitched to the back and wanted to support his sister’s big life change. Once he was ready, the plan was to drop off the truck and drive Luis to the airport in Denver. He had work the next day and unfortunately couldn’t stick around to help her with unpacking or furniture shopping. Camila had decided to sell all her old furniture and appliances to truly have a fresh start.

Kuma as sprawled out on the floor to her left, his black button nose twitching as he sniffed the air. He had already blessed the home with his beautiful white fur that had shed from his body and she could see the tuffs of fur floating across the bamboo floors like tumbleweeds in the desert. That would be the next order of business when she comes back home, unpacking the vacuum. The Keurig had finished pouring out a second cup when her brother emerged refreshed from the guest bathroom.

“You‘ve got good timing, your coffee just finished.” She called out, grabbing the cup from the machine and placing it to the side on the white marble countertop. Luis liked the way she made coffee, so Camila didn’t need to ask him what he wanted. She already had the bottle of honey and chocolate oat milk ready next to the Keurig.

“I’ll never get tired of this cabin, you styled it so well! Next PTO, I’m coming to visit.” He had only seen some of the house during the building process and had freaked out when they first walked in through the doors. The smaller two bedroom, two bath home had an open concept, with high ceilings and black framed windows. Some of the cabin exterior was brought indoors through the large wooden beams that were used to support the building, but Camila wasn’t one for the overwhelming wood theme that you would see in more traditional cabins so that was about it for wood in the home apart from trimmings and cabinets.

“Sure bro, come whenever you want.” She passed her brother the cup as she spoke. “When you’re done, we’ll lock up and head out to the city.”

“Sweet, thanks.” Luis replied, inhaling deeply the smell of the coffee before taking an exploratory sip. Once you burn your tongue once with a hot beverage, you’re always cautious when it comes to the first few sips.
Akilah Darwish

With his arm around her, she was completely engulfed in his warmth and it helped to calm her further. It was a welcomed comfort.

"While anything would probably be better than sleeping on the hard ground, most ships don't have the softest of beds and the ones that do are more expensive than they're worth." She started, remembering that those ships also carried mages who always looked to test their skill against her and she grew tired of the game long before she was able to leave college grounds in pursuit of knowledge and experience. "They tend to carry their own set of assholes that will insult you with pretty words and deny that they were looking to do you harm for their personal gain..."

Akilah watched as more men filed into the tavern, all probably looking to speak with the crotchety Captain. They seemed like the kind where you'd best sleep with one eye open or your door heavily magicked to deter them from trying to slit your throat while you slept. She watched them calmly and took a mental note of them should they all find themselves boarding the same boat in the morning.

"But to answer your question, I slept very well. It is tiring to get a ship to port a full day ahead of schedule and it is better to rest while you can. The earliest lessons for mages is to know your limits."

Akilah allowed Rayth to lead her away from the bar, a decision that was probably for the best as she seriously contemplated launching the old man through the window and just paying for the repairs. She figured it maybe would have caused some resentment from her new male admirer as she knew he was looking forward to the payout. Inhaling deeply through her nose, she let go of her annoyance on a slow controlled exhale through full lips. Rayth led them back to the booth they had occupied the day before and as they took their seats, she nestled herself against him. The mage had quickly learned last night how delightfully warm he was and how comfortably she fit against him.

"What a charming man." she said simply while picking at some lint that had attached itself to her pants leg. At least she could look forward to spending more time with the mercenary before they set off on their grand adventure, whatever that was to be.

Akilah woke that morning feeling refreshed. Taking the time to rest and enjoy herself was definitely worth it, especially with the new company she found herself with. The thought of Rayth brought a smile to her face and butterflies to her stomach. Had they progressed any further, he would have been sharing the room with her right now rather than having lodged in his own. The mage was due to meet with the mercenary downstairs so she quickly got herself together for the day. With her teeth clean, face washed, and appearance all in order, Akilah flew out her door, stopping only to whisper the protection spell back on her lock. The rings on her staff ringing loudly as she walked briskly down the hallway and calmed her pace to descend the stairway into the main dining room.

As she reached the open air, she could just catch Minka's voice. "The boy's right, she came in on a ship. Lovely girl. They'll both serve you well."

Peeking under the ceiling separating the bottom and second floors, Akilah could see the innkeeper and Rayth speaking with an older man who carried himself in a way promised he wasn't someone you should take lightly. Finishing her journey down the steps, Akilah made her way to the small group, the rings on her staff softly chiming with every other step she took. She called out to the trio over the noise of the dockworkers that had filled the room.

"I hope I haven't missed anything important?"

The man's eyes widened in surprise as he pointed his thumb at her while looking between both Rayth and Mika. "This is who you've been talking to me about?! Neither of you said she was a mage!" He leaned forward on one leg to get a better view of her. "Tell me girl, what is it you do?"

Akilah raised her eyebrow as she answered the man, surprised at his reaction to her. "I am a sorceress of storms."

"Bullshit." the man stated.

She wasn't sure if he spoke out of surprise or plain disbelief of her skills, but she decided to give them a taste of what she could do. As she spoke, the tattoos the silvery tattoos began to glow white against her tan skin. "Because of the great respect I have grown for Minka, I will not insult her by summoning a windstorm into her business. So this..." Akila's staff stood unassisted next to her as she placed her hands together firmly before pulling them apart from each other, fingertips facing each other to bridge the magic between her digits. A web of lighting appeared between her hands when her palms separated and maintained a strong current between the magical magnetic poles she formed with her hands. Channeling lighting was a raw form of magic, it was based on the feeling and the understanding of how lightning formed rather than the spoken spell that was required for higher levels of magic."..will have to suffice. Unless of course, you'd like to step outside?"

With her task complete, the Jedi opened her eyes slowly to focus on Bocri. Without a second thought she stood to place a purple hand over the bandage on his shoulder and began to pour her own life energy into his open wound. The kolto infused bandage did a good job expediting the body's natural healing process, but she took it to a higher level. If one were to watch, they could see the wound close before their very eyes as muscle and skin cells reformed to become as whole as they once were before shot by a blaster. Hirani felt the pull on herself, as she always did when she healed, and left it so a faint scar was left upon his shoulder. It was nothing permanent and would rectify itself over time naturally.

Once finished, she tapped his cheek gently with the same hand that she used to heal his shoulder. "Come, they're fast asleep."

Hirani rearranged her bag to lay against her back and confidently turned the corner to walk onto the bridge of the Corellian Dawn. The twi'lek took a moment to appreciate the scene before her, a serene picture of deeply unconscious clones slumped in their chairs and sprawled over the consoles that controlled the every aspect of the cruiser. Despite the horrific circumstances that they found themselves in, Hirani was glad to have avoided killing any troopers herself so far but she knew it was like to change fairly quickly if they didn't find a way off this ship.

"Bocri, will you help me to drag them outside before we seal ourselves in here?" As she voice her question, Hirani moved towards the closest clone and began dragging him from his chair to place him against the wall across the hallway.
Would there be anyone interested in a collab with Michaela?

”I am down the hallway from the blast doors to the bridge. Right outside the elevator doors.”

Hirani peaked down the crisp white hallway from her position around the corner towards the bridge as she communicated with Bocri. The entire floor was actually unoccupied apart from herself and the handful of clones that ran the bridge. She slid down the wall while turning her had back from the hallway to sit on the floor to meditate. The bag she carried was now positioned in her lap and was being used as a resting place for her clasped hands. Closing her eyes, the Jedi began to meditate.

Through her trance, she began to take note of the positions of the clones, the remaining hundreds were scurrying about the ship like ants when you kicked their hill. The altered clones were filled with overwhelming anxiety and Hirani was starting to think that is was perhaps for the best. She didn’t want to fight her former allies and had hope that they would be weary to confront the two Jedi. But she knew it was a foolish wish. These men were created to be an efficient army and they proved that they will follow any order given, no matter how cruel.

Redirecting her consciousness to the bridge, Hirani began to familiarize herself with the thoughts of the clones inside. If she needed to, she could control the actions of one, befuddle the thoughts of them all for Bocri to execute an easy takeover, or she could also put these clones to sleep like she did to CC-9547’s group which would be the most gentle route.

She reached out to her human partner, ”Bocri, I’m in a position where I can put the clones to sleep if you’d like? It would only take me a bit of time… “
