As the night ended and the sun rose, Dela's eyes opened to seeing the sun glaring in her eyes. It was the worst yet best thing to wake up too, especially after what happened last night. She slowly moved herself from the bed while wrapping herself in the sheet. She slept in a huge shirt, but she really liked blankets too; so she bundled herself up as she walked. As she opened the door and walked over to the balcony outside, Adelisa's eyes landed on the front door. She remembered just entering the condo full of smiles and ignorant bliss of what was to come.
Her heart ached at the new knowledge that just across that door was Grant, the ghost she came here to run from. Adelisa quickly went to the balcony and went out. She laid her arms on the balustrade and looked up at the clouds. A sigh escaped her lips as the clouds moved overhead. It was so beautiful outside that it made even the worst of feelings fade, even just for a second. She smiled brightly, rushing back to her room and dropping the blanket back onto the bed.
Adelisa grabbed her guitar and walked back to the balcony, her heart racing in excitement. She only ever got this excited when it came to music and hair, but it wasn't just the excitement. It was the feeling of giving back the beauty she received everyday. Meaning, everytime she woke up in the morning she felt that she needed to give back by sending beauty out into the world. Whether it be through melodical lyrics or trendy hair, she did it.
She strummed the guitar softly, loving how the strings showed her emotions with its beautiful sounds. She sang out.
I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine
'cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five
She smiled as she started seeing a crowd of people cheering her on. It was like the balcony was fading into her imagination.
I feel drunk but I'm sober
I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm restless
I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be quite alright
'cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette
The pretend crowd sang along with her and she giggled softly.
And what it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
'cause I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign
She stopped strumming as if there was a band behind her playing the music.
I'm free but I'm focused
I'm green but I'm wise
I'm hard but I'm friendly baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing
I'm brave but I'm chickenshit
I'm sick but I'm pretty baby
She stopped singing and her reality came crashing back to her. She was back to being alone. On a balcony.
