It was a very confusing if statement, and the entire post read like it was meant to make me just go with what you wrote me doing. It felt like the if statement was just tacked on after the fact so Meats wouldn't get locked into the punch, rather than being properly structured to take different variables into account.

I understand his thinking, but the way you wrote it just doesn't work. You can't respond to an attack that was never initiated (or even hinted at). That's just bad etiquette, and really not the way to conduct a duel. You can't just assume complete actions on the part of your opponent. If they've already made a move, then you can assume the results of that, but you can't just make up their next move out of the blue and expect them to roll with it when the move you expected is the one that would be the most beneficial to you.

And putting the if statement at the end implies that everything prior to it was conditional. In the future, I'd recommend placing the if statement at the beginning of the conditional portion of your post, so as to make it clear which part it's referring to.

As for edits, I don't want to get into another long-winded debate so I'll just change mine.

Edit: post edited.

Should we both edit so we don't clutter the fight with two entire posts of wasted text?

I should also apologize if my previous post sounds offensive, as I didn't mean it that way. It's just hard to believe that you wrote your entire post as a response to an attack that never happened, or had any indication of happening. After all, you can't counter an attack that isn't there.

So your entire post was based on the premise that my character would be using the sword in the same manner that Meats had, despite every indication to the contrary and the fact that the sword wasn't even in a ready position at the end of my last post?

Sounds like I wasn't the one who wasted a post. You had no reason at all to assume that I'd go on the offensive all of a sudden, yet your entire post is based on it. I never even hinted at trying to attack in my next post.
How would it not work? Barring a lack of cooperation from Jones, of course.
Laura Kinney. Pale-ish complexion, green eyes, black hair.

I'd have to say it's a little early on for X-23 to be in play, though I'll change my mind if Henry feels otherwise.

I was thinking I'd edit her backstory to include growth acceleration after birth, which her healing factor would compensate for once she reached puberty and it activated. That would help make up for any time discrepancies in Logan's backstory and involvement with Weapon X.

I'd also like to collaborate with Henry on this, because I think it would be really interesting for Logan to meet someone like himself, but who wasn't able to escape like he was. Someone who had to live through years of the hell that he fought his way out of. I'd love to see how he handles that kind of situation, and what kind of mentor it would turn him into, if any kind at all. Would he accept her and try to save her? Would he reject her because his past is too painful for him? Would she be willing to take his help if he offered it? Would he even be willing to give it? It's a really unique story opportunity that most characters don't get to deal with, and which Logan is especially well-suited for.

Basically, I think it would make an awesome story and be really fun to write. :)

David wasn't so foolish that he would try and use his new weapon in the same manner the previous owner had, he lacked the familiarity and training with it that would make it most effective, and so simply stood and watched as his opponent strolled closer and stopped just out of the sword's range, then dashed forward in what had to be a move intended to provoke an attack. The body language told him that no attack was forthcoming, and so he didn't move from where he stood, seeing no reason to defend or attack as of yet. Both men knew the stocky one would be at a disadvantage if forced to attack, so why give that up?

When he jumped to the left, however, David began to move as well. He stepped slightly forward and to his own right, away from the oncoming fist, and twisted the sword so the sharp edge faced the fist, leaning it directly into the path of the attack. If all went well, the momentum of the punch would carry the hand straight through the blade, severing the fingers just below the knuckles and the thumb at its base.
Or since you're online already, I'll just ask if it's alright with you if I use her, Henry.

*clears throat, all formal-like*

Henry, is it alright with you if I use X-23?
Would X-23 be considered a wolverine legacy character? I'm unsure because while her DNA comes from Logan, all of her prior involvement is with weapon X, not wolverine.
