Evolution. The theory itself is simple. Over time, offspring of a species will incur seemingly random mutations, and those with beneficial mutations will, over time, replace the old species. Humanity has ‘sped up’ their evolution with the advent of technology. When we made clothing, we lost our hair. When we prepared our food, we didn’t need sharp teeth. Over time, humanity was supported entirely by technology.
What if it were different?
- Deep in an underground complex, scientists were at work creating an organism. The first of its kind, literally. Though they were just amoebas, they possessed one trait that set them apart from almost any other creature on Earth.
When they consumed another organism, they would steal their traits.
These amoeba were named “perfections.”
The Perfections progressed as expected. The scientists would introduce new organisms to their environment, and they would consume them. As the Perfections grew in size, they were fed larger creatures, like insects, rodents, reptiles, the list went on.
Each Perfection took on different shapes as they consumed different organisms. Some dwelled close to the floor of their containment, others would fly and hover around the ceiling lights.
Then they were fed humans.
Upon doing this, the scientists found that the Perfections took on forms almost identical to the people they ate. They began to speak. They learned about the human psyche.
They convinced their captors to release them.
They escaped the facility, covered in blood.
They fled into society.
-
PERFECTION BIOLOGY:
Perfections are odd creatures. When they consume an organism, they temporarily take on the traits of that which they consume. They can even ‘pick out’ the traits they want at will, such as only taking on wings when consuming a bird, or only venom glands when consuming a snake. They all are able to morph and shape their bodies at will, due to their amoeboid form constantly consuming the bacteria in the air and earth around them through their porous ‘skin.’
This power is only temporary, however. When using a trait, it will gradually “burn out” of their biology over time. For example, a Perfection can only keep wings if they were to continuously consume birds or other winged animals. How long a trait is kept in a Perfection’s system depends on how much they use it.
When consuming humans, Perfections have instant access to advanced thought, language, and cognition, but only as much as the person they consumed had. If a Perfection consumed a baby, they would have as much intelligence as a baby, as well as any other animals they had consumed.
Once a Perfection has consumed multiple humans, they are able to customize certain parts of their appearance, such as hair or eye color, skin tone, etc.
Perfections aren’t able to instantly adopt human mannerisms. They have a hard time faking emotions, and are usually confused at actions that are entirely illogical at first, until they have experienced or studied human society for a long time.
-
PERFECTION WEAKNESSES:
Due to having a “liquid body,” Perfections are not usually harmed by projectile weapons. Bullets will have little effect beyond stunning them. Blunt objects have nearly no effect on them, cutting off parts of them will simply cause them to return to the main body, and even crushing them will have little effect beyond eliminating their disguise.
What is effective on them are weapons that affect the entire body. Fire is an effective tool, causing the surface cells of a Perfection to react irrationally and making them unable to take complex forms.
Electrocution works as well, stunning and damaging a Perfection from the inside out.
Acid is an excellent weapon, although difficult to use.
Poison can work, if in large doses. If detected, Perfections are able to detect poison in their body and contain it. The same works for biological and chemical weapons.
Alcohol causes a similar reaction to fire. ---
The RP itself focuses on the player (That is you) being a Perfection. You begin with a fairly basic level of intelligence, and some traits you acquired from your time in the lab. After you and some other escapees run from the lab and consume a couple homeless people in the woods, you have to decide where your fate will go from there. Will you try to integrate into human society? Will you hunt down fellow Perfections, trying to consume them to become the ultimate being? Will you try to find you and your kind's purpose, or will you simply let your survival instinct rule over you?

CHARACTER SHEET:
Chosen Name: (Perfections will chose a name in the beginning of the RP, so only post it here if you really want)
Human Appearance: (Picture preferred, but written description works as well. If you choose to use both, that's great!)
Preferred Traits: (These are strictly physical. Your personality will develop over the roleplay, if you choose to have emotions at all.) (Examples include claws or blades, wings, venom/poison, etc. This will decide your diet.)
Outlook on Humans: (Are they just food? Should we try to live with them? Etc. Can be fleshed out/changed through course of Roleplay.)
Extra: (Anything else you consider important)
HERE'S MINE!:
Chosen Name: Michelle
Human Appearance: However, this form is not constant, as is with all Perfections.
Preferred Traits: Insect-like traits, such as mandibles, stingers, and venom. She tends to use a combination of mammalian and insectoid mouths when feeding.
Outlook on Humans: Cautious curiosity. They are food first and experiments second.
Extra: The first human Michelle consumed was a victim of abuse, and tends to be very cautious of hostile figures as a result, although she cannot identify why.

Go ahead and create your characters! I'll be happy to add in more people after the RP starts, but I'd like to have 4-5 to start with.

If people get interested enough, I'll draw up a character sheet and make a legitimate thread.
P.S. I only really expect a paragraph or two per post.
P.P.S. Yes I did get a little inspired by Parasyte, lol
Imagine, if you will, a world in which a drug has become extremely popular. This drug is called "The Drip" among other names. It is a powerful, injected hallucinogen that is said to be relatively "safe" unlike other injected drugs. In fact, many have said that they can take a single shot and not feel the need to take another again. It's simply a fun experience.
Due to the seeming lack of adverse side-effects, the drug has been made legal in some states. Some clubs are made specifically for the mass-usage of it. In rare cases, there are some stores that sell The Drip, named "Ponds" on the streets in certain cities.
Thousands of people in a given area could be using The Drip. Office workers, mailmen, farmers, garbage truck drivers, even some police enjoy it when they're not on duty.
Nobody thought that it would bring such horror to our lives.
Two years after The Drip had been legalized, seemingly random cases of violence had sprung up at surprisingly rapid rates. People getting sick. Not much of a problem, one would think. Probably just a strain of the flu.
But it gets worse.
Hundreds of people get this disease. Then thousands. It soon is made clear that people who never took The Drip were unaffected by the disease. Taking it would only stop the disease from worsening for a little while, but its demand skyrocketed.
How would we make it after this? All the farmers who grew our food who took The Drip got sick and died. Half or more of your police force is bedridden, their blood literally blackening in their veins.
Of course, we'd try to survive, but it's very difficult. For you see, those who were not killed by the disease were driven insane by the effects of it. They wander the streets now, covered in painful, dry, cracked sores that leak dark blood. Dark lines all over their body are actually black blood filling the veins within their body.
Most simply act out their hallucination-filled thoughts until they inevitably kill themselves by accident, or simply die of dehydration. However, those alive afterward are hungry. They hunted down dogs, cats, rats, anything they could catch. Once that was depleted in the cities, the only things left for them to eat...
Were us.

The Overdose Incident is an Apocalyptic RP meant for 4-5 players at any given time. It is set in a fictional city in the U.S. , on an island somewhere off the southeastern coast, mostly tropical.
There was one bridge leading to the mainland, but those who attempt to cross it do not come back.
The setting of the roleplay is Kolana; the city upon the island. It is fairly large, with its population last numbering at about 10,000. It lacks many agricultural areas, except for some small-scale tropical farms. It was a tourist attraction at heart, with many people coming to see the many once-famous attractions, like theme parks, theaters, and night clubs.
The Player Characters will have been hiding in an apartment building to start, having locked themselves in once the disease was found to be spreading. They may be a Drip addict, or not. That is the choice of the player.
While players are expected to have a character that has at least a small chance of surviving, they are not all expected to be experienced fighters. We're not trying to make a story about some military badasses trying to reclaim Kolana. These are civilians, at least most of them, and they simply were just people forced from ordinary life into a nightmarish situation.
---
THE ADDICTS:
The Addicts are the primary antagonists of The Overdose Incident. Having been affected by a mysterious disease, they are now mostly inhuman, having given in to their hallucinations. Some are harmless, doing simple actions like banging a rock on a car or walking in circles while nodding their head until they eventually give out.
Most of them, however, are dangerous. While mad, they are still aware of their needs to some degree, especially that of eating. Not maintaining the intellect to open cans or cook meals, they mostly hunted animals in Kolana, like pets, or rats and other rodents. When the animals began growing thin, they began to prey upon others. Sometimes Addicts will feed on other Addicts, but they tend to attack in unorganized groups, some carrying makeshift weapons. Very, very few retain the cognitive ability to effectively use a firearm, or even a throwing weapon.
They are not zombies. They do not rot, they do not shuffle and moan. They will die from blood-loss, starvation, exhaustion, poisoning, and even disease are all still threats to them. Their bite does not spread their affliction. They are simply humans addicted to a drug that has made them vulnerable to this disease.
They will attack unaffected people who have taken The Drip more often then they will non-addicts, as if they are able to sense the drug in their veins..
Though most refer to them as Addicts; what they're called varies depending on where you go. -

All my cards are laid out, now! Let me know if you have any questions, if you're interested, etc. Thanks for reading! :D
Our story takes place in the world of Ganarus. Many races exist, but humans are absent. Prominent races include Elves, Lamia, Centaurs, and similar ilk. The world is somewhat advanced; firearms are beginning to be used regularly, although bows and crossbows are still common. Magic is wielded; but only by the most wise and powerful people of Ganarus, and it consumes their age.
Wars have happened in the past, but the world has been experiencing an uneasy peace for the past few decades. Every nation stayed relatively within their boundaries, trade was prominent, and military power was rarely used beyond being a backup for police forces.
As of late, tensions have begun rising. A great nation in the southern lands of Ganarus; the Dragonfolk, have been preparing for war. As their armies of countless soldiers prepared to march across the land, the Golems of the north sent thousands of emissaries to bring people north, to protect them from the coming war. You are among these people.
A Golem has come to your village, warning you of an approaching threat of Dragonfolk armies, and telling you that they will lead you north, if you wish to survive. Your journey will take you across the continent, and there will be many dangers you face: hunger, disease, Dragonfolk scouting parties, threatening you and those in your travelling party.
You will see the world, perhaps in its last moments. Will you be remembered?

RACES
Created by a powerful elven mage many years ago, just before his death. The Golems are a mysterious, but usually friendly people. They never tire, hunger, or suffer, but they do feel emotion and think. They suffer from being unable to replenish their numbers, and their population is far from what it was a few centuries ago. All Golems have the same age, being around 300 years old. They celebrate their collective "birth" every year in their home city of Stonehelm, in the northernmost reaches of the world.
No two golems have the same shape. Some are about the size of an Elf, and some tower above most buildings. For the most part, they average out to about nine feet high. They tend to have great strength and endurance, as they do not feel physical pain and are comprised of stone. They possess the ability to speak, but tend to be very literal in their vocabulary. If they are broken far enough, they will die, but minor breakages can usually be repaired.
They began numbering at exactly one million, but due to war, as well as accidents and disasters, the Golems now have about 200,000 people to their name, give or take a few thousand. They tend to have a habit of keeping inventory, and most Golems have a very close guess as to the amount of Golems left in the world. They are very careful, and are vehemently against pointless waste, be it of resources or lives.
They are excellent smiths and architects, and are known for their excellent weapons and armor. The Gelfad made a deal with them, that persists to this day, where they will protect them in exchange for weapons and armor, allowing both people to become a powerful military force in Ganarus. They lack the nimble fingers to handle a gun or bow, but are skilled with hammers. They are also known for using massive shields as weapons in battle.
Example Names: Gothan, Margon, Rellnath
Living in the mountain ranges just south of the Golems; the Gelfad are known not only for their military prowess, but also their sense of pride. They have a fierce rivalry with the Hawkeleves, who inhabit the same land as they do. Early in their history, the Gelfad were believed to be a bipedal cousin to Centaurs, whose ancestors were somehow pushed away from the fields and into the cold northern mountains.
Gelfad are usually similar in appearance; hoofed feet, a cover of fur, and a goat-like head with horns. They are slightly smaller than Elves, averaging at about 6 to 6 1/2 feet tall. Female Gelfad are slightly shorter than males, but they are equal in strength and endurance. At one point in history, Gelfad women were not allowed to fight, but this changed shortly after a female Gelfad mage rebelled, her allies using enchanted crossbows in battle to prove their prowess, alongside maces, axes, and even bare fists.
They make their homes within mountains, carving out massive fortresses of stone. They are herbivores, and although they grow some of their own food, they make trade with Centaur farmers to get the rest of what they need. They also trade military services with their northern neighbors, the Golems, in exchange for powerful weaponry.
Gelfad are known to excel in mountain climbing, mostly due to their ability to jump rather high, and keen sense of what is and isn't a good thing to hold onto dear life with. They, along with adventurous Centaurs, are known as explorers throughout the world.
Gelfad usually live to be about 60, and it is rare for a Gelfad to die of old age, given their warrior lifestyle and risky lives.
The term "Goatelf" was once used to describe Gelfad, but it is now considered a derogatory term and an insult, and usually results in a fight after being said.
Their largest fortress is a few miles south of Stonehelm, known as "Haafengaether."
Example Names:
Male: Mogr, Griss, Fasolt
Female: Yrsa, Alette, Alfhild
The Elves of the mid-western forests of Ganarus have been a very populous civilization; though they mostly reside only in wooded areas, living with nature instead of owning it. They average out to about six to seven feet tall, with pale skin and pointed ears. Elves who reside in the forest cities tend to be slender, while those who reside on the plains farms alongside Centaurs tend to be more muscular, given their work load.
Elves are known throughout the world as defenders of nature, and typically oppose heavy industry, instead making their technology work alongside nature. Their homes are built on trees, in such a way that they will not harm it. Anything that may poison the air is done far away, or in lifeless underground caves.
The Elvish government is a "diarchy," in which there are always two rulers, and both must agree on an issue before a decision is officially made. Though this does result in some issues remaining in stalemate for quite some time, it also allows the people to make their voices heard to both rulers, one of which may support them.
Elves are fast learning how to use the new golem-made firearms, but most of their ranged infantry relies on powerful handcrafted bows, those who belong to high-ranking archers usually have an enchantment of some sort.
As Magic relies on age, Elves are commonly users of it, seeing as the average elf can live to be about 200 years old, though a few long-lived elves, mainly those who reject magic, have lived to be almost 500. When war would come to their people, many mages abandoned peaceful study and care for nature, learning spells of fire, lightening, and terror, which brought many mage-less armies to their knees.
Despite their powerful mages, the Elves are a relatively peaceful people, living in tandem with Centaurs, and usually keeping to themselves. Some Elves seek adventure outside of their towns and cities, and many young elves leave their homes at the age of 40, never settling down.
The Elvish capital city is Farastra, found in the center of the Ganarusian continent, surrounded by miles of mostly untouched forest. It is here that the diarchy, currently Gelva and Starus Ashenfell, resides and rule with a gentle touch over the Elvish people, who are now preparing for a devastating war.
Example Names:
Male: Theodnum, Elred, Naesala
Female: Nym, Naesala, Rina.
*It should be noted that most Elves have an androgynous appearance, and gender is usually subject to choice. Whether or not an Elf uses magic to alter their sex to coincide with their current gender is a personal choice.
The Hawkelves are a mostly primitive and relatively young race. Living in isolated villages that pockmark the mountains of the Gelfad, they are harshly violent towards outsiders. Being carnivorous, most Hawkelves are brought up as hunter-warriors, trained from youth that their talons are the one thing between them and death.
Hawkelves are seclusive for the most part, and rarely venture beyond the boundaries of their village, but many adventurous Hawkelves will form hunting parties, hunting both animals and Geldad caravans. Hawkelves are fierce rivals with the Gelfad, and are infamous for raiding their caravans for weapons, or just for sport. Their flight allows them to attack Gelfad from above, where they would last expect.
Using their razor-sharp talons, few Hawkelves rely on weapons for combat. Some Hawkelves have had talons sharp enough to cut through armor, and their talons are often sought-after in black markets for their capability to make deadly additions to a bludgeoning weapon.
Hawkeleves are unfortunately short-lived, only living about 40 years. They lay eggs at 20 years of age, and care for their young until they are 30, living the rest of their life either as a defender of their village or a hunter.
Hawkeleves live as usually seperated tribal communities, rarely establishing towns or villages with other races. Hawkeleves have no capital city.
Example Names:
Male and Female: Thunder, Justice, Gale,
*Most Hawkeleves are named in their youth, usually after an act they performed or a trait they exemplify.
The Centaur are a people that have inhabited Ganarus for millennia, residing the the plains and the rivers that cut through them, living in towns and villages that rely on the rivers for agriculture. Centaurs are herbivorous, and farms in their land are usually larger than those of other races.

I will be adding more to this later! Don't worry, I wouldn't post this much and call it a day, just short on time and eager to get this idea out there, lol.
I'll probably end up controlling his and my factions as one unless he returns. I have been kind of busy over the past few days, but will post when I can.
