It has been thirty years since Duke Aaron the Blooded slew the great wyrm atop Tainted Mountain. His story is to this day sang by the bards with admiration and praise.
‘Twas thirty years ago that the great dragon bore down from the eastern sea and attacked Gransys. Aaron, a simple fisherman from Cassardis stood alone against the beast as his village burned around him. Even as the dragon struck him down he continued to draw breath, and it was then that the wyrm knew it had found one worthy to face him. The beast flayed open the fisherman’s chest and feasted on his heart, and when he should have died, Aaron of Cassardis rose as one of the legendary Arisen. Those chosen over the ages to defend the lands from the great dragons of the apocalypse.
Calling upon the legendary plane walkers known simply as the Myrmidons, or “Pawns” among the common, the Arisen Aaron embarked upon a great quest against the wyrm. He faced many trials in his campaign including defeating a horde of goblins, slaying a griffin, and defeating a dragon cult devoted to the beast. Fate twined the final strands in his epic as the wife of the Duke before him was kidnapped by the dragon. The Duchess Aelinore, rumored to be the Arisen’s lover, was devoured before him as he reached the summit of The Tainted Mountain.
Vengeance in his heart and fire in his eyes, Aaron of Cassardis struck down the dragon and returned to Gran Soren, capital of Gransys, soaked in the wyrms foul smelling blood. On the death of the previous Duke, who had left no heir, Aaron of Cassardis took the throne of Gran Soren. The commoner turned hero and ruler. A true paragon of the generation at hand.
At least, that is the tale as it is told.
Fate now sings her song of brooding again. The dragon has returned, billowing over the horizon in dreaded fiery splendor. Word has reached Gran Soren and the Duke that the wyrm comes again. In response to this, Duke Aaron has decreed a call to arms. The Enlistment Corp travels the realm, seeking out recruits to stand against the dragon and his ilk. The cycle continues as the winged terror seeks those who may prove a worthy nemesis, and any who raise their blade against him shall become pawns in a grand game of twisting.

Be ye knight or be ye rogue, Duke Aaron the Blooded calls upon you to raise your weapon against the fiery terror that is the wyrm!
So as you can see this is a Dragons Dogma RP, based on the awesome game by CAPCOM! The events of this RP are set thirty years after the events of the game. As Dragons Dogma is an interactive RPG there is no “canon plot and ending”, so I’ve incorporated the outcome of my own playthrough from back when into our plot basis here.
The short version; I sacrificed the Duchess/Princess to the dragon in return for power and my game ended with my character (Aaron the Blooded, Mystic Knight Class) ruling as the new Duke of Gransys in the stead of Duke Edmund Dragonsbane. Of course the common folk don’t know this. They presume the tales of the valiant knight slaying the dragon and uniting the realm true. Unaware of his dark and treacherous deed.
And now the dragon has come again after thirty years to test the mettle of man again. Knights, rogues, mages, and other walks of life are coming from near and far to join the Wyrm Hunters Guild and the Enlistment Corp.
In this RP players will have two character path options; either an Arisen (or Arisen-to-be prior to the opening events of the IC) or a Pawn. While this RP is open to anyone, including those who have no familiarity with Dragons Dogma, I would suggest that only those who have played the game vi for a Pawn character as they have a rather intricate backstory and origin. And please note that Pawns are will-less followers of man and anyone who plays as a Pawn are effectively a side kick with no initiative for the entirety of the RP.
This thread is strictly for interesting gathering, Q&A, and brainstorming. After I’ve garnered enough interest, expect a proper thread/OP by this Saturday.
