I really nead to work on my bio. Point on my quirks and limitations. Making my own RP is tempting but I'll need to polish my blade first.

dark fantasy roleplays anyone? It'd be nice if it had an open world setting so that we can make stuff up!

BASICS I love fantasy role-plays, leaning more into dark fantasy and high fantasy. I can do other rp's too, just not used to them that much.
Main purpose in joining is to find and interact with fellow role-players. So, anything deeply personal and unrelated to role-plays must be taken into pm or dismissed, especially if they are highly sensitive and subjective topics. Respect is what I'll give, and it's all I want.
I have a day job, so I'll only be here a few hours a day, at most. That might even be stretching it, I shut down after getting home from work. Still, I need this to kickstart my writing mojo. Play with me. :D
Done posting my RPC! It's approved through PMs. Gabriel is often mistaken to be a dragon hybrid and a dragon tamer. It doesn't correct them, mostly due to the fact that's it has been awake for only a year and has the mind of a prepubescent teen. It learns fast, though, but will be mostly clueless and immature.
Living Construct - Gabriel has no need for physical sustenance like mortals do. It was created through magic and will live on without needing to eat, drink, etc. It does not tire easily and will outlast anyone in a battle of attrition. It does run out of mana supply in its soulstone but it recovers magic from the lingering mana in the environment.
Mana Detection - It can detect mana instinctively. Due to this, it knows it can win a battle if the location of the battlefield has plenty of mana to take into itself. Magic users and laid bare to its eyes, instantly knowing whether someone is capable of magic or not.
Soulstone - It is what makes Gabriel live. It is a homunculus powered by mana and the soulstone stores mana inside. It is located within Gabriel's other self, a miniature dragon homunculus already finished upon his awakening - storing mana within the soulstone. Gabriel and the small dragon are one and the same, just with two bodies, with only one soulstone to power them.
Distortion - When Gabriel is hit with an attack, an image of it appears, moving the same way it does. The image disappears after successfully landing an attack. Gabriel and the image are indistinguishable from one another and will not disappear if it takes damage. There's a limit of one image, regardless how many time's it's hit.
Sunder - While it needs to take damage to produce an image of itself, doing its actions, Sunder makes it so that there are two of Gabriel's images fighting with him. This ability has a one time daily limit use. Any more than that will immediately and unnecessarily drain all remaining mana within the soulstone. During the use of this ability, physical abilities and resistance to magic and physical attacks are increased two-fold. It's requirement is to have Gabriel's dragon self physically attached to it.
Gabriel was created fifteen years ago by a young magus. This young magus lost his lover and child. He had a lot of potential for other magics but instead, he turned to creating homunculi that would fill the void in his heart. His attempts ended in failure but the first homunculus he made, without touching again, was Gabriel.
Gabriel's creation was a burst of grief and sadness. The reason the magus did not touch his first homunculus was that it looked almost exactly as his deceased child. It lead the magus to incubate Gabriel, leaving it alone. However, due to the magus' failures with all other attempts at creating other homunculi, he returned to where Gabriel was incubated. The surprise at Gabriel's progress made him lose all thought. Gabriel grew from a toddler into a young man, a boy comparable to that of a seventeen year old.
The surprise made the magus forgot that he had one other homunculus which wasn't a failure. It was a dragon of only two feet long. It was a success in all requirements, only that it didn't function and wasn't able to awaken. It did supply itself with mana to sustain life, but there was nothing else.
After crying himself to sleep, the magus awakened and cleared his thoughts. He remembered the small dragon without a mind and Gabriel, who grew despite being unfinished, without a soulstone. He got to work and he succeeded. A complete homunculus with two bodies, Gabriel as the sentient body and the dragon gathering mana. His success was short lived. In the time he spent to create his homunculus, he lost all sense of self preservation and had let the killer of his family find him.
The magus was killed and Gabriel, upon instinct, killed its creator's killer. With one last whisper, it earned its name, Gabriel Dragomir - named after the prodigious Altair Dragomir's son.
He is silent and keeps to himself. As an elf, he's had years of biases put into him that it makes him harder to consider those other than elves allies. Biased against other races, he is deeply wary of them and will be on the defensive, leaving no vulnerabilities exposed. However, he is a deeply caring individual and works to protect anything he values - which would be the flora and fauna, the world. Feelings of protectiveness for the state of the world is rooted in his mind and will continue to be so. This is also one of the reasons his biases won't be easily expelled. Still, he wishes no bloodshed of any kind.
Backstory:
Falan lived in a secluded sanctuary, like most of his kin do. His world revolved around caring for the forest and its creatures. Every threat to the forest and its inhabitants, he eliminated without hesitation. It earned his the title of protector of the forest, along with others. He stood out among them his peers, using his magic and skills to restrain and get rid of invaders and any who bore ill will that entered their domain without shedding a drop of blood.
At least, it started that way. As the decades passed, more and more had come and been ejected from their forest. His methods weren't working as he'd hoped. Sure, he got rid of them fast, but more still kept trespassing, slowly destroying their long exclusion from the outside world. Thus, he has turned to training himself in using weapons that will harm. Through time, he grew as a fighter and was good at it. The change in him and his fellow protectors' approach deterred any more evil from to entering. After more years of peace, he realized he'd better end the source of torment if they were to truly enjoy this peace.
Leaving his sanctuary, he set off to seek the source of the bane of their peace, and eliminate it. But he didn't know what awaited him and that he'd have to take up his weapons and harm more than he wished to do.
Equipment:
Dur's Chains - he uses the chains he's used to restrain trespassers for decades and is enchanted by his magic, increasing its durability and range Fallhaven Claws - this is the standard weapon given to Falan's unit, a pair of silver gloves and bracers used for clawing and slowly making the enemy bleed and weakened.
Magic:
Mists of Fallhaven - A thick fog will envelop the area around Falan, emanating from where its magic circle is engraved. As known with fog/mist, visibility can be very low but along with it, the five senses will be dulled if they're in the circle, meaning, less pain is also experienced but death quite possible.
This takes a short time to prepare and must use his twin silver daggers as conduit and engraving tool but is actually done slower due to the requirement being that he's actively engaged in battle while slowly drawing the points of the magic circle and putting them altogether with threads of magic. The magic circle will serve as the origin of the mist and will be present within the circle. The mist will only spread if he channels his magic to it. Once the channeling of magic is done, it's range will extend and will remain like so with a steady supply of his mana.
Allies of Fallhaven - Falan syncs his soul and magic to that of his allies, helping him sustain the Mists longer.
Syncing one another's soul and magic requires Falan and the other individual to have known each other adequately. They must meditate with one another for at least an hour a day and have fundamental knowledge of each other. It works best if they know each other inside and out, making the sync easier and the supply of magic to Falan less taxing. While synced soul and magic to Falan, they can enter the Mists without getting lost and will sense danger unlike enemies who'll take the full effect of the mist.
There is only one known side-effect that Falan knows. It drains magic (or stamina if the person doesn't have magic) passively when their inside the Mists. The draining effect is absent if they are not within the mist.
Another backlash, unknown to Falan, is there are times when his thoughts are actually his allies' thoughts. This occurs rarely but he won't know it wasn't his, at all. The real danger is that when those thoughts that seem to become his own is so vastly different to who he is, it ends up straining his mind, slowly pushing him to the process of insanity. He has no way of knowing this and his allies do not experience it. Messing with the soul is dangerous.
Dur's Chains - Dur was Falan's master. He passed onto Falan his pair of enchanted chains. These silver chains can extend their range and are more durable than the material they're made of. By storing his magic inside the chains, the effect cast by Dur activates, strengthening them and have them extend Falan's fighting range. Once Falan stops supplying it with magic, it will return to just being normal silver chains.
Augmentation - He can increase his senses and other physical abilities two-fold for several minutes. He can only choose two specific abilities upon casting and the upon next cast should be the other abilities left. This is good with short to medium-length battles but he can't use it frequently in drawn out battles.
Vector - Falan can move those who enter an unseen ring of magic around him that starts 5 feet to 10 feet with him as point of origin. Upon stepping inside the ring, if Falan chooses to activate this ability, his eye brightens for a second and moving a single unit within the circle in one direction. The force and efficiency relies on the magic resistance and magical capability of the unit. It will, at best, move the target three feet away. At worst, it will only give a feeling of being pushed/knocked back three inches.
Misc:
Falan prefers to end fights immediately. He can fight drawn-out battles, but the magic at his disposal can't be used to their utmost potential. He can learn to improve them, but it will take time and effort, and a great deal of experience.
Vector is cast instantly and will only be delayed or suppressed if the target unit has strong magic resistance or has a counter spell. They will be moved, even just a few inches. It also has potential moving several units, with practice and experience.
Falan believes he can cast Augmentation with his allies if he comes to know who they are and what their abilities are. But first, he needs to lengthen its duration being cast on himself.
He is deeply biased but when he comes to know someone fundamentally and respects them, he will be a friend for centuries.
While having quite the magic ensemble, he is a melee fighter and Vector is more used to avoid fighting every enemy at once. He prefers restraining but will harm if there's no other way.
@semicolon Sorry for not posting like I said I can't do Mondays, and I had 5 tests tomorrow on Tuesday... So today will be fun. Either way had to do so much studying. Anyway still interested in that collab?
Yep. I'm free for two days. Where shall we do it? PM's? I need to show where Cel's going - which was to watch the newbies duke it out.
@semicolon Are you the only player with a senior student right now? Well here's to hoping us recruits put on a good show! :3
To that end anyone have in mind who they might want to team up with? I'll be posting either tonight or tomorrow, and Yrhen is going to fall into indecisiveness, finding some fault real or imagined with everyone around her.
Ohon and Mars are both second years. I think there are some more? But like Cel, I'm not good at remembering.
I do hope newbies will have fun, despite that high difficulty. Cel would probably eye them up and see what they can do. Of course, if he can pull himself out of his head and be in the moment, observing.
I'm posting a bit later, in a few hours. Doing that because it's time for new recruits to experience what Cel and the others did. He'll definitely watch. Who want's to join him? Collab or not? I can do either.
Will it be possible to have spells in all three categories of magic? I mean, I'm only thinking of one spell on the enchantment category that's directly connected to the two spells under the ritual category. My character - an Elf - will be mostly an Ability Mage though. If you want me to explain in detail, I can PM you.
