I was so blown away by the eclipse. I even got to pretend it was entirely hidden here in Michigan, when the clouds covered the peak. :P

It's not really sandbox or romance-centric?

Nope! Our group will have the freedom to do other things (they certainly don't have to be a large group the entire time - that would be exhausting). But I'll have big events available for when we feel up to it. For example, we all write a boss battle to clear a floor. And then we break off into smaller groups to recover/explore/whathaveyou.

I have had one too many (or like 34324545 too many) romance-centric SAO roleplays. If it happens, it happens. And that would be cool, because I've only seen real RP chemistry like twice. But nah, it isn't a main focus!

Hey everyone!

I've found my way back here after a long vacation. Now, I'm really eager for a Sword Art Online roleplay. I have loads of ideas for quests on the various floors. I'm thinking daily life, with some combat involved (boss battles, etc.).

I honestly have no idea if this will be 1x1, or a group. I'm just testing the waters here.

Thanks in advance! :)

I feel like if I made a CS, hyped about it after pulling my friend into the roleplay, and decide to quit because I'm such a baby, it's something ... shameful? (For myself!)

Have you folks ever experienced or felt such scenarios?

Just recently, actually! A few of my friends were creating a new roleplaying website, specific to a particular anime. I reached out to an old friend, and convinced him to join the creation process. Of course, just weeks later, everyone was at each others' throats. It was a miserable experience, and I ended up leaving. Had to tell my friend "sorry I convinced you to join, just to leave."
even better, we could start the roleplay off with your main character not even being a Shadowrunner at first. We could use that as an in-character introduction and let you learn particulars as we go.

I think that's a really great approach. If nothing else, it will make it easier for me to roleplay a clueless character. Because, you know, I'm actually clueless.

We could easily roleplay the transition of your character from a SINner to a SINless, perhaps with some sort of goal to pursue where your character NEEDS help? Again, this would help serve as an intro to the setting.

I think this would fit well with the above comment. My character is new to the world, and looking for guidance. What would someone have to do to have their SIN revoked? I could keep that in mind, and structure a character around that.

I imagine the event that leads to her having her SIN removed, and the immersion into the new world, should be enough to get us off the ground in terms of conflict/good stuff. We can absolutely work in the other elements you mentioned as we move forward. I also do like the idea of being closed in a city - at least for a while.

Been a while since I've seen you around!

What masters are you going in to?

Good to see you again!

Teaching and curriculum, with a specialization in literacy. :)
I'm a history nut, so I have this huge historical fiction piece all planned out in my head. A core of five or so adventurers who visit actual historic moments - Titanic, Pompeii, you name it. They're trying to track down a professor, the inventor of the machine. He's convinced he can improve the world by changing history, but he only makes things worse. Our adventurers are working for a mysterious third party, who won't say how they got the machine - they just give orders. And at one point, the US government gets involved. I actually wrote a bit of it for my NaNoWriMo novel a few years back.

But it never really works as a roleplay. My dream is to have a solid, active team who visits these events, and other writers who sporadically write people from that time period to make the interactions with the locals more realistic. But finding that dream team has proven impossible.
Here's my character! Please let me know if there is anything you'd like me to tweak. I'm really looking forward to writing her, and I'm not at all ashamed that I used Your Lie in April for the picture. I did cry a little though.

Shadowrun looks very interesting. I'd be happy to give that a run, if you don't mind my being a complete newbie. I'd never even heard of the game, but it looks very interesting. And honestly, I generally do much better when there is already a setting established. Helps with the my-brain-hates-world-building thing.

I also find it is easier to find our footing when we incorporate some sort of disaster or survival element into the story straight-away. We could work that into the setting - post-apocalyptic, maybe. But even if it doesn't last long, and is just a quick emergency that we have to respond to, it skips the typical "lets just have our characters accidentally bump into each other and strike up a conversation." I'm a lot like you - if the thread feels forced, I don't enjoy it as much. If we place our characters in a tavern and have them start talking just because we need to get a story started, I think that's a bit too convenient. But I'm sure you've already thought of that! Your Shadowrun idea seems to have a fair element of danger.
