Between the two sites I frequent, normally three or four. It is normally a pretty healthy mix of one on ones and group roleplays.
I find I'm really turned off by roleplays that require me to post multiple times a day. Roleplaying is something that I do for fun, and the moment I feel like it is a chore, I'll bow out. I know some people love a faster pace, but it isn't for me. I do my best to let my partner know that from day one though, so I generally don't have any problems.

Yeah, you're probably going to want an emulator. I've used before, like, a wicked long time ago, but it did work ok from what I remember. Here's to try if that one doesn't work for you.
