Working on IC post.
Yeah, and following the verdict on my first IC Posts future... I am alright with that.

lol xD.

Damn I'm lucky. (Glory to the random numbers god!) I just went into the final boss dungeon and looted everything as a newbie.
<Snipped quote by Grijs>

Why do I feel like that was a racist comment?

Its a meme, and an old one at that.

We are playing in an obvious Yugoslavian-knock off, I seriously doubt he meant it as a racial slur.
FACTION: 17th February Revolutionary Movement

Note: The World International, a global anarcho-syndicalist (and former communist, before a violent schism) organization is controlled by Wernher and is acting as my factions patron.

================================================================
FACTION SUMMARY:

FACTION TYPE: Terrorists/Revolutionary Cell (Formerly Insurgents: Not actually terrorists, more of a former insurgent militia transforming into a highly organized revolutionary cell due to foreign leadership)

FACTION BASE OF OPERATIONS: Pomorum. The faction used to work around Keldmoor, setting up their ambushes and raids on Grey's forces as they move around near Varisso. The group then moved into the city itself and took part in the Battle for Varisso before its crippling. The Faction, now under the leader of "The Voice" and other foreign controllers have since moved the faction to the outskirts of Harleigh in northern Pomorum.

FACTION GOALS:
#1: Overthrow the dictatorship (or any following government with opposing ideologies)
#2: Break the siege of Varisso
#3: Form an anarcho-syndicalist direct-democracy federation following the World International's splinter ideology of communism.
#4: Redeem the ideals and dream of Carl "Snowballs Chance" Leonard (Foreigners)

FACTION COMPOSITION:
-The 17th February Revolutionaries: Comprised mostly of disgruntled and rebellious civilians of Noravea, many of whom were industrial workers and students from around Pomorum and Concordia. They are referred to as the "Locals" by the new foreign leadership. They were formerly a militia-like insurgent faction with revolutionary aspirations. They are desperate and willing to work under these new "Professional revolutionaries". Most of the members are left leaning politically and all of them are populists. Despite their radicalization, they still think themselves as idealists and believe they are legitimately fighting for the people, so they tend to avoid excessive war crimes compared to their more extreme rival factions.

-The International Revolutionaries: Comprised of "Professional Revolutionaries" these are international fighters and instigators that have spent their entire lives fighting wars for their ideological cause. They represent the World International, a vast formerly communist apparatus of ideologues and revolutionaries. They move from state to state and attempt to assist or take over local movements and encourage them towards fighting the perpetual world revolution as envisioned by Carl "Snowballs Chance" Leonard. Following Leonard, a PCA professor and wartime hero ousted by his own former revolutionary comrades in the PCA, the international revolutionaries have since became bitter and hostile to communist movements, and have since been transformed into anarcho-socialist/syndicalist internationalists, this political schism resulting in numerous bloody conflicts between fellow left-wing rebels.

INITIAL ASSETS:
-International Revolutionaries (Foreign Support, Cash, Volunteers, Contacts)
-The Voice (Lev Clausstein, Foreign Expert)
-A Stolen tank (Stolen by the local insurgents after drivers surrendered it in an ambush, currently has very little fuel due to prioritization for the trucks or ammo and no one skilled in driving it)
-Three stolen military trucks (Stolen in ambushes, currently used to move around and tow the stolen tank)
-Smuggled small arms and explosives (Through arms dealer associated with Lev Clausstein)
-Rockets for rocket artillery... But no rocket artillery to fire them (Salvaged from destroyed rocket artillery battery)
-International Pirate Broadcast (Propaganda)
-Vestigial support from civilians due to past Robin Hood antics.
-Around 46 remaining locals and 7 foreign 'advisers'. The number of actual foreigners not currently in the nation and/or working supporting roles may be significantly larger due to the nature of power difference between the local and foreign groups.

METHODS OF OPERATION:
-Previously low-intensity and highly decentralized ambushes and guerrilla warfare in the rural outskirts, moved into high-intensity but still decentralized urban battles before being severely crippled as an organization. After its recent reformation, the faction has completely altered itself into an ultra-secretive, ultra-centralized cell that is currently laying low while its new hyper-competent but controlling leadership both takes control of the few remaining locals and begins recruiting and rebuilding the ranks into a proper disciplined organization.

================================================================
FACTION HISTORY:

Originally a hodge-podge group of insurgents made out of mostly unemployed industrial workers and radicalized students following the collapse of Noravea's economy and starvation from sanctions, The 17th February Movement mostly worked through indirect guerrilla warfare in the outskirts of Keldmoor, relying on ambushes and raids on military checkpoints to both continue attacks and gain further military-grade supplies from looting. Relatively popular with the civilians and people of the local area due to their relatively soft methods and tendency to avoid collateral damage along with "Robin Hood" antics including stealing and distributing food, they eventually moved to towns and finally Varisso to fight in urban battles, where they found that their previous tactics were far less effective. Taking serious casualties from intense and sustained battle with both government forces and rival revolutionary groups, the 17th February Movement were in need of radical change or they would soon by wiped out for good.

That change came with the sudden and unexpected arrival of "The Voice". Identity unknown to the locals who only through agents and other forms of indirect communication from "The Voice" know of its existence, a great change had come for the movement. Originally arriving as a supposed foreign backer working through an arms dealer the faction got its supplies from, The Voice quickly begun handing the group intelligence, contacts, funding and eventually tactical advise. The Voices contributions were steadily becoming more and more vital to the movements survival until it eventually took over with The Voice's assumption of control during the factions daring escape from the city, enabling them to flee northward.

"The Voice", unknown to the local insurgents is Lev Clausstein, also known as the Black Phoenix in other parts of the world. Under the Black Phoenix alias, Clausstein has become one of the worlds most (in)famous professional revolutionary masterminds and international instigators, an agent of the World International and its campaign of permanent world revolution. The only student of the revolutionary wartime hero, former-communist theorist and exiled PCA professor of Social-sciences Carl "Snowballs Chance" Leonard, Clausstein is a fanatical political visionary hellbent on fulfilling the failed dreams of his mentor and has spent his entire life waiting for a chance to turn around the World Internationals decline following the betrayal of the PCA politburo and in doing so replace the communist movement with the anarcho-syndicalist movement in the campaign to defeat capitalist oppression.

Clausstein while possessing no actual armies or land holds considerable power through his connections to the World International. While the World International is assumed to be a toothless organization comprised of naive idealists, in reality it is a much more savvy organization than it lets alone, exploiting its harmless appearance to expand anonymously. That anonymous expansion continues now in Noravea where Clausstein, the Internationals agent finally entered the hellhole mess that is Noravea to see if he can turn around Noravea's collapse into a revolutionary success story. He selected the decimated 17th February Revolutionary Movement faction due its relative political neutrality to already established platforms, its general populist message and its desperation following its crippling. Transforming this battered insurgent group into an elite revolutionary cell was the kind of thing Clausstein excelled in and did regularly, so this was far easier for him than most men.

Though small and relatively insignificant to the far larger game currently being played, Clausstein is convinced he has established his first foothold and now must begin to process of creating a true revolutionary army. Clausstein aims to eventually form a revolutionary anarcho-syndicalist commune in northern Pomorum before returning, in force, to the city of Varisso. He is not a fool however, and knows very well about the current situation with the imminent Allied invasion and has since incorporated it into his plans.

“What the hell is happening, give me something lieutenant!” Captain Kao Qiang shouted as he sprinted down the ships corridor, crew shuffling aside to let him through. He had be woken in the middle of his sleep by the emergency alert alarms blazing away across the ship. Still wearing sleeping robes and a pair of slippers, he looked like a half-dead oldman who was living out his final years in a retirement home.

“Sir, a fleet of unidentified vessels of unknown make or class has entered the system, ninety vessels currently marked, the extranet is being bombarded with that message we picked up. It, uh, seems the fleet is communicating with us” A voice spoke through the upper walls of the corridor, transmitted from the bridge. Captain Kao had reached the bridge elevator now and was heading up.

“Sir, I think this might be a… first contact scenario, sir” The lieutenant's voice continued nervously. Qiang wasn’t liking this, not one bit. Either way he looked at this, it was a lose-lose scenario.

“Call for backup and start getting the merchant ships to fall back behind the planet as cover, this is likely the Federation or Empire pulling its usual bullshit”. Qiang spoke with cynical anticipation grown from decades of living through the seemingly never-ending cold war between the superstates.

“They… fake first contact transmissions? Isn’t that illegal?” The lieutenant asked absentmindedly, a young and naive mind the poor sap possessed.

“Tell that to the graves of the 140,000 lost souls at the battle of the Hera System. The “Hegemony of Azrthasphan” sure was a first contact alright” Qiang spat with caustic sarcasm. “Commander Brown, bring up shields now please” Qiang spoke again, his voice in the bridge now amplified near the commanders seat. Just as he finished speak, the elevator doors opened and Captain Kao was on the bridge too. The darkened bridge was in full alarm mode, with orange blipping lights and all. ‘Calmest region in the border colonies’ they said. Why is it no one in the Union navy ever gets a peaceful retirement? he wondered.

“Captain, the rest of the Jiang defence fleet is converging on our position. The UHS High Spirits has taken up position in front of us. We also have a, uh, single merchant ship that has apparently volunteered itself for battle” The lieutenant informed him, reading through messages rapidly.

“What?” Qiang asked, somewhat surprised that a lowly merchant was volunteering itself for essentially a suicide mission, perhaps they were after a position in being a mentioned footnote in history? he thought.

“The merchant ship is apparently a Spacer Q-Ship sir… and, uh, have already started rushing forward to-” The lieutenant spoke before being cut off by an outburst from the captain.

“Idiots! send a hail out, god damn it they just ran in” Qiang barked.

“...”

“...”

“They aren’t responding sir” the Lieutenant finally spoke. Qiang sighed.

“Sir, they are, ah, umm, this… they, they, are hailing the enemy fleet sir” The lieutenant was now just stuttering.

“...” Qiang was not saying anything and remained completely still. The entire bridge went silent for a long, long five minutes as the fleet of twenty Union colonial ships faced off against the heat signals of ninety incoming unknown vessels.

Suddenly, a segment of the bridge main viewing screen was covered by a video screen showing the Spacer captain and bridge.

“The merchant vessel responded to our hails sir” the Lieutenant spoke quietly, no longer of any more use.

The merchant captain, being one of those abhuman’s who lived their entire lives in space wore their iconic cultural attire of complete body covering jumpsuit, robes and gasmask. Qiang assumed she (He figured it was a she) was going to reveal her sudden change of loyalties…

“Captain Kao, that fleet we are about to engage, I think you should open hails with it… or even take a probe scan of the fleet instead of just a heat scan. I think you might find the information a little important”. The Spacer captain stated.

After five minutes of taking physical scans of the incoming fleet, it became increasingly apparent that they were genuinely partaking in a first contact, or at least communicating with a fleet of people who had odd design tastes. The ships were obviously not Federal or Imperial, unless either of them took to a sudden and total redesigning of their fleet within the last few days.

Qiang sighed. Now he almost prefered it had been a fleet of Federal or Imperial ships launching a surprise attack on a far distant colony of the Union.

“Open up a hail”. Qiang muttered.

“Hail open, sir” The Communications officer announced.

“Greetings alien lifeform. I, Captain Kao Qiang of the Jiang Defence Fleet represent the United Supranational Union of Humanity and the Human species as a whole. Should your fleet act in accordance with universally recognized international customs and regulations concerning appropriate conduct during first contact, we will accept your entry into the sovereign territory of the Union and begin communications. As I am a military officer and not a dignitary or government official, it is not within my capacity to sign treaties or official statements, I am also incapable of taking aggressive action against any enemies you may, may not have or trade goods that are not registered by the Union’s contraband laws or---”
Qiang was stopped just before finishing the official first contact procedure when he realized he was looking straight at, well, a human woman.

“You’re human”. Qiang stated bluntly, only just realizing that apparently he had been duped after all. God damn, the Empire or Federation were really getting desperate with new ship designs. After a short pause, Qiang spoke again.

“So, I assume this is the part where you reveal you’re secretly an Imperial or Federal and launch an invasion of this system right?” Qiang asked, leaving the question hanging in the air, waiting for the woman’s response.
