(OOC: Pardon my confusion then. I knew it required woodwork, I just didn't know about the string part. I thought they used extremely fine cotton or something similar.)
"I do have other things that I do other than song and dance. Why stick to only one profession for your main source of income?" Alex retorted, still keeping a smile on her face. She continued playing and let out a sigh when her thumb hit a knot in the neck of her lute. "Well, it's about time to finally break down and buy a new one...." she had spoken too soon...the strings had broken just as she managed one last strum. She let out several swears and held her hands up to the small crowd around her. "Sorry friends, I'll try again in a week or so, it all depends on when I get a new lute." she said to the crowd and picked up her lute and started walking away from her spot. She muttered to herself and pulled the strap back over her shoulder, the instrument resting on her back as the strings dangled haplessly, broken clean in two.
