Did not expect to spend my Saturday in bed with a nightmarish headache. Replies might be slow today.

Bio

So, hello all, I'm Shi. I've been participating in play-by-post roleplays for the past 8 years, though I did just come back from a break. If I'm working with you and go silent for more than a week without any explanation or heads up please send me a message and call me out on it. (Check my status if this happens. I leave most of these warnings there now.) I honestly just lose the motivation to write a lot...or forget to give a warning and then feel super guilty and put off replying longer.

On a better note; I just recently completed college and my schedule has opened up for the first time in years. Unlike before I am no longer balancing school, work, and life.

That is all...

"My life is my own, its secrets are mine,
I keep my world to myself, so don't cross the line,
But if fiction is what you are looking for, then I will be there,
A pen in my hand and a story to share.

That is what I am here for, to create stories galore,
Epics of heroes, battles of gore,
Lives unheard of, worlds not yet explored,
I am here to write, to no longer be bored."

Well, that was specific. Evelin could almost roll her eyes at how non-descriptive that answer was. She did not push the matter though, sticking with staring fixedly ahead of her at the passing scenery. Stores, both familiar and not, danced past her peripheral vision. She had visited this part of town once or twice since moving here for work, these visits did not occur often though due to her busy schedule. It seemed they were becoming further and further from her home, her hopes of curling up on the couch and lighting the fireplace coming crashing down around her. That would not happen anytime soon.

Unlike Samuel, Evelin was completely oblivious to the beings lurking in the shadows. She had not a single inkling that she was being watched, hunted, and searched out by these creatures. Her mind was instead questioning just where Samuel was leading her, growing a little wary when he began to guide her through a dimly lit and dirty alley way. Evelin stepped cautiously over puddles and heaps of trash, the hairs of her neck standing up as she felt the air shift.

Her entire body tensed, stopping right behind Samuel, terror filled eyes watching as the entities appeared around them. Evelin’s breath caught in her throat as she looked around, realizing that their attention was turned to her with hungry and wanting stares. Ice cold dread coursed through her veins, noticing how outnumbered and trapped they were.

Sensing the girl’s fear one of the beasts lunged forward, causing a chain reaction as several others made to grab her first. They had seemingly forgotten the presence of Samuel, unlike a few of them who slowly approached the man with some sense of caution.

Evelin let out a squeak, her voice dying in her throat. Terrified, she cringed inward but the nightmarish hands never reached her. Instead she heard several heavy thumps and when she looked back at her assailants they were picking themselves up after hitting some invisible force.

Back on their feet once more they lashed out again and Evelin watched with shocked eyes as they bounced off some sort of wall. The air around her shifted at the contact, revealing a bubble of dark and incomprehensible energy. Then all of a sudden it was gone, the space around her growing brighter now that it had dissipated.

Even though the hindrance was gone the creatures did not move to lunge again, choosing to rejoin the ranks of monsters around the two.

Just what was that?

Believing it to have been Samuels doing the woman glanced over at him, noting the fighting stance he had taken up and the glowing embers around his hands. “Whatever that was… thanks.” She quickly said, then without another utterance she turned her attention back to watching the beasts that surrounded them.

That's fine. Just keep in mind that there will be some battles where Adrian will not win, and so he might not want to go around threatening things before planning ahead with his mates. Marianne being the prime example at the moment until we start getting into the manor's more mental pathways. Also, I like your idea for his transformation meta-game. Should be interesting.

I really have to agree, every one of our characters will fail in some way by the end of this. There is no perfection, even The Collector has some major flaws that I plan to exploit for plot and suspense.

I do have to commend Drallinix for the dice idea though, it sounds like an interesting way to keep from doing the same thing over and over again. It's a technique I've used on many a plot in my personal writing adventures... though I have yet to find a use for it on this site, still waiting to find a reason for that.
I'm wondering, has anyone figured out just what Marianne is? Several clues have been given and now that we've had the opportunity to interact with her maybe someone has discovered the secret.
BUMP!

Rosaline looked dejectedly down at the shattered remains of her legs, the edges already glowing with magic. By the time Adrian had defeated the Basilisk her other fractures were already sturdy enough for her to move, but he had taken it out before she could make the beast suffer. So now the Nebula sat up, looking over her injuries and checking that it all properly pieced back together, her legs reforming quickly.

The minute she was capable of standing Rosaline did so, pulling herself to her unsteady feet, her legs were still finalizing their repairs, and she continued to dust herself off as threats were thrown.

Glass orbs turned to Marianne, everything in her mind screaming danger and certain death, but still she did not appreciate the threats on the poor human. Slowly Rosaline took a protective position beside Faira, watching the confusing yet familiar woman with vengeful eyes. She held her tongue though, unlike a certain angel who decided it best to threaten whatever Marianne was.

“I am not sure what she is Adrian but I think it would be best if you not threaten someone…or something… that we have no grasp on what they are capable of.” Rose said, her tone monotone but with plenty of venom when she mentioned Marianne.

If the nebula was in her rightful form then she would have already lashed out herself, though if that were so she would not be here in the first place. For now though Rose was content of devising multiple ways that she would rid the world of this terrifying creature when she finally regained her beautiful mist-like form. While she did so her eyes began to look around the ballroom, only to freeze on a painted portrait at the top of a set of stairs that had not been there a minute ago.

It was not the stairs that confused her though. No, it was the being in the painting. It was a man with slick black hair and ice blue eyes, eyes that felt like they were laughing at her. He had a thin face with a long nose, big eyes, and thin lips.

It was a face she could not believe to be seeing again, and after spotting it her anger turned towards another. Rosaline would have her vengeance on the man who did this to them all, and if she got the chance to wound Marianne afterward then all the better.

I mean he is an angel he isn't scared of shit, and on top of it all you did just threaten what he thinks is an innocent person. That is like asking him to step in.

I know, but you've just brought her wrath down upon you.... and believe me, someone who knows what she could do, it most likely will not be pretty.
Also, a bit of foreshadowing.... The mansion knows our deepest darkest fears and some of our best kept secrets.
Oh man, it seems she's been mistaken as a mere demon. Poor angel, even he has no idea what stands before him...
”I don’t think you have anything to worry about yet…oh you’re a shape shifter, aren’t you? How interesting…I would recommend you not leading this group the group too far into danger now.”

What did she mean by that…. Lucinda pondered but shook it off at the woman’s next warning. It came too late, the shape-shifter quickly finding that she was being restrained by a pair of the fauns. The woman struggled against their hold, eyeing their weapons carefully but not showing any detectable traces of fear. Merely thrashing would not do the trick and so Lucinda let her arms shift, bone and flesh becoming cold and unfeeling steel as her arms turned into a pair of blades.

In a swift motion the two fauns were cut down, blood gushing in pools around Lucinda’s feet. Now that she was free she turned to see how the other’s fared. “Shit.” She cursed, realizing how outnumbered they were. In a flash of silver motion Lucy turned back to their attackers, a fire of determination and a spark of insanity in her eyes. Then with a yell of fury she took off at inhuman speeds, her blade-like arms cutting any arrow out of the air that descended on her.

The first faun she came across did not even have time to blink before her arm came across it in an arc, slicing it in half before twirling and cutting into the flesh of the handful around it. Blood coated her as she fought, her blades swirling with deadly accuracy, and even through the death she smiled widely like a madwoman.

So...uh, sorry if I just scarred Faira for life...bad Windel e_e

That was actually quite interesting, I'd hate to see what would have happened if it had been Rose. I don't think that even Alexandra's insanity induced rant caused that kind of reaction and all she got was a chuckle. Though... she didn't threaten.

Honestly, Marianne's payment is not one to take lightly..... (She once asked for someone's life in exchange for someone's sanity.
