Or, the simple answer is that you can't bet points right away. You first have to earn points before you can bet any.
I'd imagine you can't wager anything until you have some.

Than, maybe say you can't ever wager more than 25% of your total points?
Or everyone could start at 0, instead of 1000.

Then you simply earn points for winnin and don't lose points.
I think that sounds fine.
I think it would be fun to get a group of people together and have them fight things that are way out of their league individually, but work together to win.

The powerschool on this wouldn't be very high. You'd be above normal people, but not army shattering in strength.

Magic would be allowed, but no mind dominating or city shattering.

We could combine several of the aspects that have been presented.

I think a Win/Loss system for Players is nice.

A Point system per character, or only allow one character for ranked matches. Prevents one really good writer having three or four characters at the top.

I like the loss for losing personally, but maybe it should be 10% of the lowest point total between the two? It will mean slower movement for everyone.

Personal emergency or not, it's just a way of keeping things fluid.

Or maybe make them inactive, that way they just don't sit there in whatever position they are in. Which, I think only really matters if your high in the rankings.
