If you want you can take either a spear or a halberd, it will give the ability to attack while your guarding

Yeah I have a sowrdsman too but it's hard since you have to dodge all the time and try to get a perfect dodge. But my friend has a knight and finished the game once with it, from what I saw of his gameplay he had it all with heavy armor, and and heavy shield and a halberd it was a good combo with almost everything, but some bosses he had to shed all the extra weight to be able to dodge
