Addie twitched as conversation got sharper, and people starting get angry with each other, causing Addie to sink into her seat, trying to make herself as small as possible. When Vindle spoke up, Addie smiled weakly. "Okay!" Addie responded, with a timid tone, as she reached her hand out gingerly, searching for Vindle. She was ready to go to the gym, and get out of this room. The tension in the room seemed to be increasing.
Addie was glad that she had already made a friend, hoping that Vindle also felt the same way. Before Addie could respond to Vindle, and talk further, the housekeeper stood up and started speaking. Addie sat patiently, waiting for others to go before she did, far too shy to lead the introductions. Addie hoped the introductions would be over soon, so that they could start eating.
Brady hurried quickly onto the bus, preferring one of the seats near the very back. As he sat down, he took off his backpack and sat it in his lap. Today was starting to turn out fairly well. Nothing bad had happened yet. Brady stared out the window with his absentminded smile. The views were the best part to this bus. Brady could see just about everything when he sat by the window seat. As Brady sat, twiddling his thumbs, he wondered just what this year would turn out to be like. Most years at Sky High had some sort of huge highlight, and he wondered just what exactly this year's would be.
Addie smiled when Vindle volunteered to help her to the gym. "I appreciate the help." Addie whispered, gratefully, as she sat, listening to the room. From what she could hear, others had sat down and joined them. She could even hear a small bell from where she had sat down.
Addie smiled slightly, as the housekeeper said her name, then frowned when she said they'd need help to the gym. It was true, they would need help, Addie more, probably. While Addie was apt at making herself around areas she knew, making herself around areas she had never been before was extremely difficult. She didn't like the idea of receiving help, as if made her feel like she was a burden among the rest, but she was smart enough to know she needed it.
Addie sat quietly. Being cooperative would be the best course of action, even if there was no punishment. She felt slightly sad, for speaking out of line earlier. She felt sad for her 'friends' as well. They had been snapped at too. Addie turned her head slightly to Vindle, and smiled, letting him know that he had her full support.
Addie didn't shake when she heard the voice in her head, but she was definitely surprised, and it slightly showed on her face. She would of said something, but the keeper might snap at her, again. Having no idea where it came from, Addie simply held a smile on her face, hoping the person nice enough to say hello to her could see her appreciation. Addie kept still, besides that, and kept silent. She still hurt a little on the inside from the snap from the housekeeper. She wasn't used to such sharp rules, and sharper rulers. She would have to learn to adjust, though.
Yes, sir.
Addie opened her mouth to reply to the Vindle, but stopped as the housekeeper interrupted. She instead looked in the direction of the voice, and gave a faint smile, showing her warmness. She appreciated being talked to. After a moment, Addie turned her head back forward. "My name's Addie." She whispered as low as possible, while still making it loud enough for Vindle to make out.
"Thank you." Addie managed to mutter out, gratefully, as she reached out, finding her seat. She was able to sit down, by herself. She could hear as others sat down around her, and could smell food being cooked. Addie was so excited to be here, and the grin still held true on her face. Addie sat very prim, and proper, for someone who was blind, at the table. She eagerly awaited to be served, being as famished as she was.
