But why does it have to be that terrible, arbitrary and unnecessarily complicated ratio?
@MULTI_MEDIA_MAN

What Plank said. I'll send a prayer up for you.
And there we have our conversion table for the ridiculously inflated currency.
Maybe just have it at a level where people don't have to go digging through pages to find some sort of conversion table.
I feel like that exchange rate needs to be adjusted. That's a pretty terrible currency for a place like to UFP to have.
Having a wonderful Saturday.
Fionn Harken
Name: Fionn Harken
Title: As the leader of a small group of Kindred Fionn holds the title Elder.
Height: 5" 10'
Weight: 165 Lbs
Age: 24
Race: Kinborn Human

Tier: 4

Appearance: Red hair, green eyes that almost seem to glow, a solid nose and a mouth eternally quirked in a friendly smile. Fionn loves life and his face shows it. His skin is the freckled pale of one who never gets a proper tan no matter how much time they spend in the sun. Years of an active and adventurous lifestyle has sculpted Fionn's body into that of an athlete

As far as clothes go Fionn is most often seen wearing his custom fitted blue and white bodysuit. Despite the name said suit is not something an observer would describe as skintight at first glance. Some sections are thicker than others and a series of armor plates serve to blunt the details of his form. An armored pouch is attached to his right hip on one of the many mechanical latches on his waist.

While on Ecetopia he has taken to wearing a dark brown cloak and local pack over his obviously advanced armor to avoid standing out.

Personality: Friendly, kind and with a strong sense of justice. Fionn spent his entire formative years expecting to go out into the universe and make it a better place and his personality (tempered with some time actually doing that) reflects it. He's the kind of guy to help a stranger being robbed at gunpoint. Give his lunch to a homeless guy or help a kitten out of a tree.

He isn't some perfect ubermensch though. The thought of death frightens him much as it would anybody else and he would certainly miss that donated lunch.

Abilities, Talents, Traits, Powers:

Skills

Engineering-Tier 2:

The ability to download things directly into a person's mind and communicate with their soul while teaching can make for a very thorough education in a relatively short amount of time. Combined with the amount of knowledge built up over the Kindred's long history means that Home taught beings are some of the most well educated in the galaxy.

Before he left Fionn received the equivalent of a tertiary level education in engineering. He's far from technopathic but he does have a very good idea of how the universe works.

Medical-Tier 2

Using the same methods as his degree in engineering, Fionn worked for the equivalent of an advanced tertiary level education in the medical sciences. At this point he could make a good living as a doctor on most any planet.

He specializes in humanoid species. Give him the right tools and he can bring someone back from the brink of death, perhaps even a bit beyond if the conditions are right.

Firearms-Tier 2

Fionn is professionally trained in the usage of a wide variety of firearms.

Swordsmanship-Tier 2

Fionn has had a lot of moves from dozens of different styles shoved into his head. While he can perform them satisfactorily he hasn't taken the time needed to properly master them. So while he is certainly competent his blade work is hardly going to make one stare in wonder.

Martial Arts-Tier 2

While Fionn is capable with both blade and gun in hand, where he really shines is when he has nothing but his hands. Unlike his other two martial skillsets Fionn has actively worked to improve his unarmed combat capabilities.

The kinetic physical motions work better with his magic and it's easier to disable a person without killing them when one doesn't use a weapon. As such he has spent long hours practicing and searching out people and places that can help him improve. The end result is a body as formidable as any warrior monk.

Magic

Sword of Light: Tier 4

A fairly basic form of elemental magic, the Sword of Light allows the user to manipulate the named element. The first level ranges from images conjured from the mind of the wielder to beams of light so focused they burn their way through metal. As a user becomes more skilled in the use of Sword of Light they can add more exotic and magical effects to their spells.

The second level that most adepts hit is the ability to harden their constructs. Turning them into solid objects that can physically interact with the world. Harken is struggling to master this stage

There are more levels than that, set on a vague sliding scale with little actual distinction on when a mage crosses from one to another. They are more a way for adepts to measure themselves than an integral part of the magic

As great as it sounds however, Sword of Light is far from perfect. Light doesn't like staying in one place. Which means that a mage needs to constantly keep their magic flowing in order to sustain a spell. Cause enough of a crack in the user's concentration and their spell will fall apart. In addition despite their ability to freely create images what a weilder does should not be mistaken for an illusion. It is nothing but a collection of photons brought together by the mind of the mage. Any movement in the image has to be directed by the user themself and you can just forget about sound entirely.

It's almost a scientific type of magic at the lower levels.

Body Enhancement Magic: Tier 2

It's in the name. Body Enhancement Magic allows the user to push past what would normally be physically possible for a human being. It's a slow build kind of magic, learning how to use it simply removes a physiological cap. The user has to put in an equal amount of effort and time to the level physical ability they want to reach.
Harken is not quite at superhuman levels yet. Just that of a highly skilled athlete.

Items:

Cruinn Mark VII Hazardous Environment Exploration Suit: Tier 3

An all purpose protective suit made back Home for people who wanted to go wandering through very unhealthy areas without becoming a walking tank. It has a temperature regulating inner layer, drawing off and recycling internal heat and fluids while also keeping external heat at bay.

Between that and the flexible outer armor are the suit's internal systems. Some of the most magically resistant systems available on the Kindred open market. Chemical computers, surge triggered nanite repair swarms, protective circles to shield from stray mana. Protected areas have more, others have less or nothing at all.

After that you have the flexible armor mesh. An airtight layer of materials that provides a fair amount of protection for what it is. Resistant to being pierced or cut, hardens when struck with harmful amounts of kinetic energy and can temporarily hold up to most forms of radiation used in weapons.

Then you have the primary line of defense. Armored plates of a material that doesn't properly fall under the aegis of ceramics, metals or plastics. Whatever it is it shines brightly and covers the user's vital areas as well as important system clusters and parts of the extremities.

The head is protected by a single piece helmet with a variety of interesting tricks installed. First of all it can recycle the wearer's air for up to an hour, even without the help of external equipment.

In order to allow him to be heard the helmet has a limited speaker function, allowing him to be heard outside the suit and giving a certain amount of amplification when needed. Also built in are radio and digital binocular capabilities, the latter making use of the extensive HUD function.

The inbuilt radio also serves the role of a short ranged radar. Giving him an idea of his surroundings up to five hundred feet.

The hands can emit light at a thought via special threads Fionn wove through the plates of the gloves. It was a massive pain to do and took a proper week of hard work to seamlessly introduce them to the suit. However he has found it to be extremely useful in conjunction with his magic.

It's not a military suit though so it is limited. The suit won't stand up to repeated or sustained blasts in the same areas. It has no built in weapons or shields and the radio has a limited range.

And while it won't short out at the first sign of magic it isn't immune. The radar tends to get unreliable around large concentration of mana and enough of the stuff will render the suit inoperable. Forcing him to wait for the inert and shielded nanites to power up and fix the damage.

T19 Stun Gun: Tier 1

Despite his magical prowess Fionn has found that people try to mug him a lot more when he has no visible weapons. It also helps when he wants to disable someone without permanently harming them. The T19 is a fairly common non-lethal weapon that fires darts about the size of a bullet. When they hit something the darts make a rough guess on the size and species of the target and apply an appropriate amount of electricity. There is a limit to the charge each round carries of course but in most cases a singe round is enough to put down an adult human male of average size.

Medkit-Tier 1

The ambient magic on Ecetopia has forced Fionn to go more low tech on his medical supplies than he would like. Even with a shielded case it would hardly help his patients if his tools broke down mid treatment. As such while the chemical section of his medkit is highly advanced, the rest of it is fairly mundane.

Mechanic's Tools-Tier 1

Perhaps even more of a problem than with the medkit. Ambient mana means that Fionn can take little to no powered tools with him around the planet. This has limited his to much the same as what a normal to tinkerer on Ecetopia might carry, if of a noticeably higher quality.

Adventurer's Pack-Tier 1

A pack filled with all the odds and end one might need on an excitement filled adventure.

Weak Healing Potions x4

Medium Healing Potions x2

History: Despite his open nature Fionn is surprisingly cryptic about his past. When asked where he came from he simply answers "Home." When asked where that is he'd say "A barren, out of the way corner of the universe." What people can get out of him is that he was pretty much raised for his current job.

He grew up his entire life hearing about how much he could help people. Make the galaxy a little brighter. It stuck with him and drove him until he was eighteen. At which point he did start going out and doing just that.

At first with a mentor and then on his own, he's been at this for seven years now and it's been full of adventures. Almost a vid show. The ratings must still being going strong though because he isn't slowing down.

Roughly a year ago he was assigned to Ecetopia and granted the title of Elder. His task was to take command of a small group of Kindred and act as the planet's quick reaction force. Whenever a problem popped up that the local Kindred either couldn't get to in time or didn't have anybody properly qualified and available, Fionn and his team would go in and deal with the it. For a while it has just been him and Elise but the increasing workload and the possible large scale nature of the most recent threat has prompted him to request additional people be assigned to his group.
What if I plan on making a character that is part of a faction but said group doesn't have five players yet?

Are faction abilities that should be integral to them (Like say, a magical buff that makes members stronger) "locked" and just not talked about?

And if the faction later gets five members would I have to bring the character back to the staff for approval?
Well I certainly hope your group gets off the ground. My guys will need a proper opponent for this to be any fun.

So best of luck and En Garde!
