So how do we proceed? :D
Wye Coldren

[Route 701 - Outside the Pokémon Center]

Wye looked over to the two who had been watching, listening to them. They didn't know who this Brooks was. He was quite curious. This man was stronger than anyone he'd faced before, so perhaps he had some time in the spotlight before...

"Let's visit the Nurse," Wye spoke to the pokeball, as he walked towards the building. He recalled the other pokemon as well, except Blu, who followed him closely and climbed up his shoulder.

He walked up to the counter and presented Mali's pokeball. "Could you heal Mali, please?"

[Route 701 - Pokemon Center]

"Alright, then, let's dive into it," Wye said excitedly as he pushed his finger up to flick off the bump, revealing the keystone underneath. His thumb struck the keystone and Mali's Mega Stone started to react as well. The Iron Leg pokemon transformed into a slightly larger core bodied form with eight arms.

Brooks was partially surprised by the promptness of the Metagross' Mega Evolution. "Not wasting any time, are we? Well, let's see what you've got, let's rock Feraligatr." He said, but did not trigger his Mega Evolution yet.

Wye bit his lower lips. He let the device he was holding dangle around his neck. "Let's get a one up! Meteor Mash!" Wye said excitedly as Mali locked its front claws together and launched itself forward with speed to charge the Feraligatr with its signature move.

Strangely, both Brooks and Feraligatr remained completely calm as the attack rushed forward. "That basic? Feraligatr, block it." He said, Feraligatr obliging by raising his two arms into a blocking x.

Mali slammed into the Feraligatr's guard and its claws slid downwards. "Push up and again!" The claws hit the ground before the incredible strenght of the pokemon launched it upwards, taking the same pose again before diving back down, with good balance.

"Not bad." Brooks mumbled under his breath. Feraligatr instantly put his arms up again, preparing to block the next attack as it came diving downward. As it made contact, the impact caused a small dust cloud to kick up around the two Pokemon.

After a moment, Mali emerged from Wye's side of the dust cloud, facing his opponent with anticipation. Wye gave a look that showed he was half worried, half hyped up.

As the dust cleared, Feraligatr was not only still standing, but didn't seem to have a scratch on him. "That's what I like to see, Feraligatr. Alright, Fire Fang let's go!" He said, Feraligatr's mouth lighting up with flames as he rushed forward towards the Mega Evolved Metagross.

"Zen Headbutt!" Mali nodded before zooming forward with the psychic battering ram formed in front of its head as it charged the Feraligatr. As the two attacks clashed, the Zen Headbutt's aura disappeared in face of the raw power of the Fire Fang, sending a hurt Mali down on the groundbefore it glided back.

Feraligatr quickly recovered from the clash, the flames extinguishing from his maw. He'd done some damage, but there was still a ways to go. "Alright, follow it up with Aqua Tail!" He said, Feraligatr letting a swell of water surround his tail as he swung it towards the Mega Metagross.

"Ice Punch! Stop the water in its tracks!" The riled up Metagross cried out before it zoomed forward again to attack the tail with the ice attack.

The Aqua Tail froze from the Ice Punch thrown at it, but Feraligatr slightly used this to his advantage, slamming down the frozen attack right into his target.

While having taken quite a few strong hits, Mali showed its endurance as a Mega Metagross. As it skidded back, it spun to use the momentum to keep moving. "Nice! Bullet Punch to follow up quickly!" The pokemon shot forward again with much greater speed than before.

As the Metagross shot forward like, well, a bullet, Brooks didn't even have to say anything. Feraligatr suddenly jumped up into the air. He looked down at his Steel Type opponent as he started coming downward again. "Perfect shot, use Earthquake!" Said Brooks, Feraligatr ready to impact with the ground. However, that didn't seem to stop the charging Metagross. The Earthquake landed, but the Mega Metagross continued right on ahead, with its Bullet Punch eventually colliding with Feraligatr, sending him skidding back a few feet.

"Good! Zen Headbutt once more!" Mali went ahead once more with the Psychic attack, charging at the Feraligatr.

Brooks smiled as he came in for his attack. Time to finish this. He held up his Mega Ring, touching it with his other hand. "Time to end this! Feraligatr, Mega Evolve!" He said, as his Keystone resonated with Feraligatr's Mega Stone. Two streams of light connected in midair, and Feraligatr was suddenly enveloped in light. Then it dissipated, and what stood before them was Mega Feraligatr. Metagross' Attack scored a direct hit, but it was like hitting a reinforced brick wall.

"Woah!" Wye glanced at the screen of the device with his keystone on it before turning back to the battle. "Alright, Mali! Meteor Mash, full force!"

The Metagross was coming in for another attack, but Brooks was ready to finish this. "End it right here, Feraligatr, use Crunch!" He said. Feraligatr obliged, and all that could be said was Feraligatr charged forward, and massive shadowy jaws enveloped the Mega Metagross target. It was over.

As the dust cleared, a white flash of light came from Mali, who had reverted back to its original form, knocked out. Wye looked on dumbfounded, before giving a weak grin. "Ah... Good job. Take a rest," he said, holding the pokemon's pokeball out and calling it back. "You're pretty strong," he called out to Brooks, rubbing the back of his head. "That's some insane power..."

Feraligatr reverted back in a flash of light to its normal form, with Brooks walking up next to it on the battlefield. "Good work, partner." He said, patting him on the back. He looked back to the trainer ahead of him. "Thanks, it comes in my line of work, so to speak." He walked across the coutyard towards the main building. "Your Metagross was well trained, I was just on another level. It was a good battle, though. The name's Brooks. You'll see me around." With that he headed back inside the Pokemon Center, his Feraligatr following right behind.

"Brooks, huh?" Wye said to himself quietly. "My name is Wye, by the way!" He yelled after the trainer but he'd already disappeared from sight.

Wye turned to the new voice coming from behind and smiled. "Oh, thanks," he said, rubbing the back of his head. "I'm Wye. Nice to meet you, Michael."

Half way through seeing that, his eyes went to the Mega Stone that turned up in his sights, on a Feraligatr. As the young man challenged him, something lit in his eyes. "I've never seen a Mega Feraligatr before," he mumbled to himself, beeming. He shared a look with Mali and the two nodded to each other.

"Alright!"

He walked over to Mali on one side of the battling field of the Pokemon Center, pulling out a small device that looked similar to a pokedex but wasn't. There seemed to be a camera on one end, and a holo-caster on the other. His thumb was pressed on a bump on the side. "We're ready when you are."

"Hm? Oh... Yes, I was born in Viore, though, my family moved away about a decade ago. I just came back last year, but my parents are still... Ah, I'm rambling," the young trainer said. He paused for a moment, thinking about what they could be up to. Just as his train of thought started to deviate even further, he snapped back to reality. "Ah. My name is Wye, by the way! The little gal down there is Blu," Wye said, gesturing to the Totodile. He held one hand out for a handshake while he pointed at the Frogadier, the Gabite, the Metagross and the Haxorus with the other. "Those are Fray, Walden, Mali and Eddie."

The black haired trainer's head turned to see someone trip over the Totodile. The Totodile fell on her side, struggling for a moment before rolling on her belly and pushing herself up to her feet, proud with the feat. She looked at the person who tripped over her with a similarly smug pride. The other pokemon snickered at their unfortunate friend, with the Metagross' laughter ringing hollow and hearty at the same time from the metal body.

The young trainer turned to look at the person who tripped over his pokemon. He stared for a moment before speaking up. "Uh... It's fine," he said, glancing at the Totodile as if for confirmation. A small grin crept up his lips as he tried to choose his words. "Are you alright?" The Totodile didn't seem to like the smile her trainer had, glaring at him.

"Where should we go next?"

A young trainer was standing outside the Pokemon Center building, in its courtyard, with five pokemon around him. The smallest of the bunch was a small Totodile. Next to it were two others, a Gabite and a Frogadier. There were also two more that were much more noticeable: a Haxorus with a scar on his eye and a Metagross with a mega stone on its front left arm, placed like an ornate bracelet.

The trainer stared down at his pokedex's Town Map, looking at different locations with interest. "Do any of you have any ideas? Maybe go back home for a bit? Hm... Yeah, I'd rather not yet either."
Could someone catch me up? :D Any suggestions as to where I should start?

"Hm... Where should we go next?"

Personality
Wye seems like a kind person at first sight, and he is in many ways. However, he is definitely capable of making hard decisions that many might not dare to make. He can become ruthless and cruel for self-preservation or protecting his partners and friends. He tries to be easy to get along with and can even come across a bit goofy at times.

History
Wye had been a trainer for quite some time. While he was young, his family moved away to a faraway region. There, his parents worked as pokemon researchers that focused on long term evolutions of pokemon that took several generations for species to gradually change instead of the metamorphosis they underwent in a matter of moments. At the age of 12, he received a pokemon from his father, Blu. At first, they humored him, letting him be a "field researcher", but as a trainer, he proved to be quite skillful. The region they lived at at the time was made of a series of islands with different variants of the same pokemon on different islands. So as Wye caught a couple of pokemon near their home, his father proposed something to the young trainer.

So he started his journey in that region, conquering the gyms and aiming for pokemon league while catching pokemon to send to his parents to help with their research. After getting eliminated in the top 16, he went on to another region with one pokemon he'd caught, Eddie, and his first partner, Blu.

With his two pokemon, he moved on to the Hoenn region, where he partook in contests instead of doing the gym challenge. For the contests, he worked primarily with two pokemon he'd caught there, a kirlia he named Ellie, and a metagross named Mali. It was there that he learned about mega evolution and got his first Mega Stone and Keystone. With the help of his team, he got a master ribbon for Mali's "cool" appeal, and an ultra ribbon for Ellie's "beauty" appeal. He went back to live with his parents at that point until the age of 17.

After returning to Dracotia Village, he kept Mali there with him for his journey. Near the village, he met with Walden while he was a Gible. They became quick friends. A little over a year later, after a short period of studying, Wye decided to continue his journey. As he left the village, Walden followed him. He only noticed until he reached the next city over, where Walden joined him by his own accord.

Fray was a strange case. This ninja pokemon was following the two around after Walden had an encounter with him and evolved into a Gabite, set on defeatining his rival, the ground dragon. From time to time, he'd attack, but Wye hadn't a clue that the froakie was following them around. During one of their battles, just as Fray was about to lose once again, he grew as well. After a long battle between the two pokemon, they both knocked each other out. In order to make it easier to bring him to the Pokemon Center, Wye placed Fray into a pokeball. Although intent on releasing Fray later on, Wye grew fond to the pokemon.

For the last year, Wye has been travelling around freely with his pokemon, strengthening his bonds with them while looking for interesting places in the world. He aspires to become an expert in pokemon biology as his father was, but his interest is more in mega evolution rather than Darwinian.
