|Fighting Style |» In his youth Marco Rivera, as the enigmatic Toro Volador, was an exemplar of the blindingly fast and chaotic style of wrestling known as lucha libre. It was this energetic and chaotic style of fighting that first got Marco noticed by the wider wrestling world. After his unceremonious exit from the Federación Mexicana de Lucha Libre, Marco did numerous tours throughout the American Independent Circuit and Japan, and as he has aged, he has to rely more and more on American and Japanese styles of wrestling to prolong his career after several years of nearly blowing out his knees on a nightly basis. He has seemingly mastered the art of blending his lucha origins and newfound skills as a striker with the "AWE style" so to speak, and Marco is something of the company's go to guy when they just "need someone to have a good match." and it is a position Marco takes great pride in.

Diablo Rojo|Gimmick |» After many twists and turns in character over the years, Marco has settled into the role many say he is best at: the stalwart, steady hand near the top of the midcard, forever in the hunt for the main event. It is said Marco has the heart of a bull and takes twice the punishment to put down. At least, that's what his diehard supporters in the AWE's latino fanbase would have you believe. To his detractors, Marco Rivera exists for two reasons: to put over whomever Roderick Quinn's new experiment happens to be, and to eternally nip at the heels of the AWE's poster boy and undoubtedly Marco's most storied rival, Drayden. Marco lost his mask to Drayden in one title match. In another, Marco was placed on the shelf for several months after being on the receiving end of a Burning Hammer. This eternal rivalry has seemed to seep into every aspect of Marco's character work, and it has defined his career in America.

|Backstage Rep |» If one thing can be said for Marco Rivera Salazar, it is that he is AWE to the very bones. After abandoning the nepotistic politics of Mexico and nearly destroying himself touring Japan and the American Independent Circuit, the Flying Bull has found a home and made his name in the AWE for the past decade, doing whatever was in his power for the Quinn family whenever he was called upon.
Until recently.
No one seems to know just what has gotten into Marco in the past months, but everyone agrees that something is off about the former luchador. Some say years of playing Intercontinental Champion to Drayden's World have finally gotten to him, or that the approach of age and massive turnover behind the scenes has caused the Mexican superstar to fear for his position in the company. Maybe both. But Marco knows all too well that time is running out for him to have one final run at the top of the card, and it has lit a fire in him unlike any since he first left Mexico.
