Another question for everyone: what do you hope to do or accomplish in this rp? What sort of stuff are you excited about? The one thing that kills my rps most often is the fact that a lot of my crazy nonsensical plot twists are never as awesome as I think they are, haha! I want to do this one justice, and make sure that this game at least attempts to be everything you expected! So lemme know you expectations -- it'd help write a lot. :)
As you can see, my character is pretty mundane. I'd like to explore how he, as a regular Joe, will deal with his world as he knows it being shook up. I'm really hoping that you'll use his backstory in a way that I can play off of...
Also, I guess another request, when you want to have an NPC show up that our characters should recognize -- for example, my character Emmitt's wife -- could you perhaps post that information in the OOC with a mention to the people who need to know, or maybe send out PMs?
EDIT: I'm really looking forward to this! I hope I'll be able to participate and not get swamped... Eh, I should be fine as long as things don't move too fast.

Actually, if I could make a request, could you make a sort of map or a location diagram or something for major areas? One problem I've always had in RPs, especially when people get split up or something, is where exactly everybody and everything is in relation to each other. For example, where the market is in relation to the main center of learning. If it ends up being too much trouble though, don't worry about it.

NAME:
Emmitt Hubert Drake
ABSTRACT:
Grit Sympathizer and Bullied Family Man
DETAIL:
Five-foot-ten with brown eyes, brown hair, and a clean-shaven face; Emmitt Drake is about as unremarkable looking as they come. Owner of a small bookstore, he lives happily with his wife and two children. Or rather, that would have been the case if he hadn't been the victim of some thugs running a protection racket. Having just been fired from his recent sanitation job, Emmit has had no choice but to join those that work on the wall. While not free of discrimination, he has developed some feelings of sympathy for the Grit, which has caused some isolation between his family and the community. This has made it much harder for him to get jobs or to find help with the racketeers.
MAGICAL INVENTORY:
A sigil that can lift and move something about as heavy as a cinder-block. Helps to move books around in the shop, but more recently has been used to keep an extra tool nearby. A sigil to light a small fire. After all, it can get cold up on the wall, and cold air means cold food. Who wants that? A sanitizing sigil remembered from his previous job. Good for cleaning up some dirty dishes, or disinfecting the scrapes and cuts one gets working on the wall.
OTHER INVENTORY:
A few pieces of chalk to write sigils and things with. A few interesting bits of metal picked up and put into pockets. A favorite book. Some extra durable overalls with extra protection on the knees.
