Snow continued to fall from a seemingly unending ceiling of dark overcast. Occasionally a pale white light seeped through, momentarily, as quick to appear as it was to vanish. Silence lay like a blanket over the town, interrupted only by the scarce passing of what appeared to be a gleaming giant. The bright yellow eyes the creatures possessed were blinding as they reflected off the snow. A certain canine-like figure avoided them as much as possible. "B-B-Brrr..." he shivered while wading through the knee-high snow in the ditches lining the road.

He stopped in a particularly deep bank of snow to rest. What is happening? he asked himself, hoping that perhaps someone would hear his thoughts answer. It had, in fact, already proven to be a rather strange day, so why not? He thought back to his arrival. His journey back to the house had been near as quick as his escape. He saw the top of it through the trees and brush, a captivating light still creeping out of the window. He decided to approach it, despite his fear. Something emerged from a door carrying a reflective stick of some sort. From under the cover of a nearby branch he waited, before eventually deciding to come out. The creature turned to his motion. "Hi!" was all he could say before an extremely loud noise scared him half to death, exploding the snow bank closest to him. The creature screamed simultaneously, obviously startled, and ran back into the house. His ears rang violently as he ran again away from the homicidal maniacs that appeared to inhabit this world. "Scary..." he muttered quietly.

Thus, here he was now, acting on his decision to find a warm place to sleep, hoping it would not be as poor a choice as those prior. He noticed that the snow around him was beginning to turn to water, and pushed on. The lights from other buildings was not far now, and he hoped that one might provide safe refuge.
19 December 2015, 0231. The snow drifted down, just beginning to cover the frozen ground in large patches of white. The sky was black, hidden by a sheath of grey clouds, giving an ominously dark appearance to the town. The breeze blew loudly through the trees, a sound broken only by the occasional car whisking by. For the third time in a seemingly unimportant night, the dull out-of-the-way town would become the site of an extraordinary occurrence. The house on the edge of the town's park lay blanketed in darkness, waiting. Suddenly, the air turned into a violent twister as a strange gas-like substance appeared and began coalescing into pixels. A mixture of brightly colored pixels coalesced into larger blocks, and the blocks into a strange figure. In little more than a minute, three dark claws dug into the freshly fallen powder.

The wind died back down as light appeared in the house's window. The creature's ears pricked up at the sound of some incomprehensible noise. Still dazed and disoriented, it turned and ran. With a surprising speed it bolted from the house, past a small row of trees, running deeper into the park. It settled in the cover of a tangle of leafless branches. Whatever was behind, if anything, would have been lost by now. After a moment the creature emerged, eyes wide and full of adrenaline. It's cape swayed in the wind, the crimson-red color seeming as dark as blood in the low light. After gathering its wits, it headed back in the direction it came, curious.
As far as an origin goes, I am currently living in Birmingham, AL, a medium-sized city that holds a university specializing in medicine and hospital tech, with the second biggest major being probably engineering. The city itself holds several hospitals and plenty of doctors, along with the med tech engineers, something that could be interesting in regard to the 'digital virus' idea.

Another question... Are digimon in the real world going to be sized as in the movie? In other words, does Greymon = Godzilla?

Also...
I don't have a particular lack of art supplies for any reason other than that I rarely use them (engineer major). @Cynthx As long as you are good with ok quality images, I can find some color sticks somewhere. If you would really like to see intricate illustrations, however, I may require assistance.
Was gonna draw and color myself, until I realized the full implications of college financial life. I am now down to mechanical pencils, a blue and red colored pencil (walmart brand), and a purple highlighter. To repeat, I can either shade with a highlighter or actually mix a red and blue to create purple. Lineart it is...I'll just throw in whatever color I can. Low quality is acceptable, right?
So, despite digimon being made of data, they still interact with physical objects, correct?

Also, got my final evolution done...

Jyarimon -> Gigimon -> Hackmon -> XV-mon (white, will post pic soon) -> Slash Angemon (Variant, pic soon) -> Jesmon

And 'CS'

Name: Garrick Erenggrand
Gender: Male
Age: 15

Appearance: Garrick is tall for his age, standing at 5' 10". He is slim, but not too skinny, toned, but not too bulky. His red hair is uncut and wavy, with the bangs parted to either side, reaching his shoulders. His slender face is clean-shaved. His eyes are also slender, a piercing ice-blue, giving him an expression that one might mistake for constant glaring. Garrick prefers to under-dress, typically wearing a light, lightly stained t-shirt and worn jeans, complemented by tan, black smudged boots. (Drawing soon)

@Cynthx Really liked the looks of the line, but I couldn't find the adult and ultimate forms so I have no idea what they actually are. I might change up some depending on my character, still not for sure. Was using personality as a more important criteria than looks, as I already have a character personality in mind, but I will agree that it is indeed super cool.
One other question regarding appearance. I assume that the purple elecmon exists for a certain reason and not just because of genetic mutation. Is it possible that in this AU, especially considering the digimon will cease to be data and become concrete organisms, that similar color shifts can occur in other digimon? I'm not suggesting anything like a complete color invert, but instead slight changes based off of digimon within their evolution line.
Ok. Didn't know how free the evolutions could be.
My original plan was
...Hackmon -> Knightmon -> Slash Angemon -> Jesmon
so if its ok to mix lines...
Gotcha. Yeah, I had some ideas for creating, but considering how little I know and how much complexity it would take, I'll stick to originals. One thing though. Are we to assume that, as a general rule, each digimon as it progresses is fairly similar to others? That is to say, there isn't a handful of digimon that are absolutely stronger than all the rest?

If not, is this ok?

Yuramon -> Koromon -> Hackmon -> BaoHackmon -> SaviorHackmon -> Jesmon
Lets theoretically say that I am interested in joining in. Firstly, what quantity of digimon knowledge will be required? I have played DW1 and watched most of the first season...of the original. Most of what you guys are saying goes over my head a little. As in, anything referencing later shows/games. So, with that out of the way, my second question. How difficult would it be to fabricate my own digimon line beyond champ level (that is, the last ultimate and mega), given that drawing pictures will in no way be an issue?
Also interested, although have no experience in tabletop, online or otherwise.
