Questionnaire:
What first impression do you make? I believe I come across as cool in temperament although perhaps rather unbending in my ideas and strict in my actions, especially if advised by my angel.
What are you like in a high stress situation? I believe I can handle them rather well, partially because I am naturally level-headed and partially because there is a certain sense of calm that comes from the certainty of visions.
What are your best and worst qualities? The most useful to the rest of the crew is that I am methodical in everything that I do. It ensures I keep calm and organized as well as giving me a good head for strategy. My worst is that I rarely change my mind on anything (or want to).
What is something about yourself that you would never admit to anyone? It does bother me that I am as dismal with connection to others as I am. I prefer to file that feeling away for future examination.
What are your dreams? To force the governments that refuse to allow people true freedom to return them or be brought to their knees.
How do you want to be seen by others? Organized enough to follow me and intelligent enough to join my cause.
How do you see yourself? I'm not quite sure, to be completely honest. I suppose as a sorcerer doing his best to do good by the path set out for him.
Do you tend to make snap judgements, or stop and think about things? I try not to do the former. I am strongly in favor of separating my emotions from my decisions as much as possible when reason will likely get me much farther.
What haunts you? Aside from the occasional ghost, the first time I saw someone die in person. It was not a peaceful passing, as the Eisengrad system's planets are not as kind to their people as Esari's.
What is your philosophy on life? Stick to your virtues and do whatever is best by them.

History:
Summary: Valyrim was born on Cirrane, where his gift and his personality made him stick out like a sore thumb. His parents were typical citizens of the planet, as his parents ran a hot spring. They and other elves recognized that he was Aasimar rather quickly as his appearance is notably different from the average elf. Although his appearance might have earned respect among elves, his personality most certainly did not. As a young child, his well meaning parents attempted to mellow his character; it was mostly unsuccessful, especially if someone said something he disagreed with. He felt an unexpected level of indignation and even as a child was prone to argument with much older elves.
It did not truly dawn on him that such feelings were not completely his own until his time receiving a prophecy, promising that one day the people would know true freedom. Afterwards, it was silence from his angel, resulting in hours spent attempting to puzzle out the prophecy. The answer came in a series of two short but vivid dreams: the first was a flashback to his guide kneeling to Avandra, filled with a feeling of devotion-the second was a glimpse of his future, staring at the stars from the deck of a ship, nearly overcome with such a freedom that he felt almost empty once he awoke. From then on, he devoured knowledge of magic and the known universe along with odds and ends he saw in visions. His guide would help him along his path, giving him the occasional burst of confidence that he knew promised he would help bring about the winds of change.
One day, he had an unfamiliar vision. He was making his way off of a skyship, and a rather ornate one at that. As he made his way out, he glanced into the window to see nothing but the rails of the ship behind him. He patted his pocket and felt crinkling of a scroll. Grim satisfaction washed over him as he made his way into the night.
After months of mulling over the dream, Valyrim accepted the next step his angel pushed him to take and left Cirrane, working his way up the criminal underworld in Iyananor by stealing and spying for crime bosses and shadier companies. Despite his intense disdain for his employers and his actual job, the travels through Esari and its nearby systems served to remind him of his end goal. Eventually, a contact who knew of his aspirations pointed him the way of the Consortium. He felt a sudden rush of certainty at the suggestion and made for the Summer's Escape, ready to fulfill his destiny.
