Keep in mind, they live on a desert planet. There is no visible water on the surface spare a few agriculture sites dotted on the surface, a few hundered miles apart.

About the water?
I have a plan for that, as well. They wont be able to sense our moiture iwth their tech, only by our looks. Nothing a little tech cant fix. For you... your situation's different.

They have ways of collecting moisture from the air, if you walk by it, unless yoy have complete control of every bit of water in your body, itll trip the sensors.

What does it look like, exactly?
The training? That's the proctor's department. I can take you to him if you wish to ask him. He specifically gave me a month of time for us to learn this, but he told me we could rush it a bit if necessary. But if we go visit him, we'll have to disguise ourselves to the locals. On their planet, water is extremely scarce, and used as a monetary trade item. We'll look, as they'd put it: water-bloated.
