Biography

Background:
Ayame was born and raised in Gobigakure for her entire life. She was born the only child of her mother and father, both of whom had latent capability as ninja, but never elected to receive formal training. Ayame, however, saw ninja as heroes and always aspired to be one. She was seen to have some potential as a young girl and was taken in to be trained by Hyuuga Hiroshi, as most Gobi ninja are. While her ninjutsu and especially taijutsu were found somewhat lacking (beyond the absolute basics, she has very little skill in either), her genjutsu abilities were most impressive. She greatly enjoyed the intricacies of a successful illusion, and so poured most of her studies into genjutsu. At the age of 12, she became a Genin and began working as a full-fledged ninja. Her parents were never fond of her decision, but they were still very proud of her successes. Ayame continued to live with them until her 13th birthday, for it was on that fateful day that both of her parents were killed.
She had been out on a mission, and due to some unexpected trouble with bandits, her squad was delayed in their return. When they finally arrived, her squad leader (a Chunin named Boso) allowed them to go home while he delivered the report to Hyuuga Hiroshi. Aya raced home so as not to miss her birthday celebration. When she arrived, the scene she arrived at completely shattered her emotionally. The bandits they had encountered had been raiding the farms outside the village. Her parents, it seems, had tried to fight back. Both of them lay lifeless on the ground, dead from several stab wounds all across their torsos. The ninjas who had arrived before her told her that her parents had fought bravely to protect the other villagers, and had managed to hold the bandits off until help arrived. Unfortunately, help had been a moment too late.
Ayame's shattered emotions began to slowly form into a singular, all-consuming hatred of the bandits who had done this. Aya left the scene and proceeded alone back into the forest, the hatred slowly consuming her consciousness. She found the bandits still in the forest, binding the wounds they had suffered at the hands of her squad earlier (the bandits were weak enemies, so the group had decided to spare them). At the sight of them, Ayame's hatred finally reached the boiling point, and all her usual kindness was consumed by the sole desire to make these people suffer. Relentlessly, Ayame unleashed horror after unspeakable horror at them, using the best genjutsu tricks she could muster to make the bandits fall into a living Hell of her creation. Eventually, she finally reached her limit and collapsed from exhaustion; in her madness, she hadn't kept track of her own stamina.
When she finally awoke, she was still in the forest, her activities still unnoticed by her fellow Gobi ninja. The bandits, she realized, had been reduced to little more than piles of massacred carcasses, barely even recognizable as having once been human. Ayame had no memory of what happened, but knew only that she had been responsible for it. After confessing the deed to her superiors, she was examined by a psychologist who also excelled at genjutsu. Through a combination of treatment and jutsu, he was able to discover that Aya's shattered psyche had placed her hatred in an alternate personality, which called itself Kirai. Since that time, Ayame has been closely monitored. She has since, however, managed to overcome her trauma and returned to active duty. Kirai, however, still remains inside her, and can most often be seen when Aya enters battle.

Today:
Ayame has recently become a Chunin, and has been told that, eventually, she will be leading her own squadron of Genin. In the meantime, however, she continues to take missions both by herself and with her former squad mates (although Boso, sadly, was killed in action). She lives alone in the center of the village, but is overall happy with her life.

Personality:
Ayame is kind and normally very gentle. She can be shy, but still enjoys socializing with those she considers her friends. She likes wearing kimonos while not on a mission, and has gained a small reputation as one of the village beauties. When fighting, she can be nervous and prefers to stay in the back to cast genjutsu while her physically stronger comrades take the fight in closer. Her genjutsu usually consists of physical illusion, misdirection, and manipulating her opponent's senses.
Kirai, on the other hand, is a twisted and sadistic being who lives solely for the suffering of others. She is a fragment of Ayame herself, but still acts as an individual being. Her genjutsu usually consists of fear, terror, and torture. If she manages to get out, she will inflict these genjutsu on anyone she considers an enemy, without sympathy or mercy. However, she will not attack Ayame's allies, as the distress caused by this will allow Ayame to awaken from Kirai's rampage.

Special Traits

- Remarkably skilled in genjutsu, but lacking in other abilities, especially taijutsu
- Ayame and Kirai are similar to a Jinchuuriki and a Bijuu, but Kirai is only a fragment of Ayame and thus offers her no additional powers or abilities; if she really wanted to, Ayame could do anything Kirai could do, and vice versa.
- A good cook

Equipment

- Smoke bombs
- Kunai, some with paper bombs
- Food pills
- First aid kit (she's no medic, but it helps)
- Needles (Kirai uses them to torture people; Ayame uses them to attack pressure points)

Jutsu

Ninjutsu:
Name: Henge no Jutsu; Transformation Technique
Rank: E
Effect: Transforms the user to appear to be someone or something else.
Drawback: Requires a constant emission of chakra; can be dispelled with sufficient force

Taijutsu:
Basic training only

Genjutsu:
Name: Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu; Mist Servant Technique
Rank: D
Effect: Multiple clones made of mist and shadow appear from the surrounding environment; efficient use of Kunai can make the clones seem real.
Drawback: If the opponent can sense or see chakra, the user can be targeted.

Name: Kori Shinchū no Jutsu; Sly Mind Affect Technique
Rank: C
Effect: The enemy's sense of direction can be manipulated at will, causing them to travel in circles while feeling they are walking straight ahead.
Drawback: Can be dispelled if discovered.

Name: Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu; Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique
Offshoot: Magen: Nijū Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu; Demonic Illusion: Double False Surroundings Technique
Rank: C
Effect: The user alters the opponent's perceived surroundings at will, making mountains out of molehills, or making a steep cliff appear to be an open plain. Double False Surroundings Technique can place an illusion within the initial illusion, such that an opponent who discovers and dispels the first illusion may still be ensnared by the second illusion.
Drawback: Both layers of illusion can be broken if discovered. Also, two layers of illusion consume more chakra than normal and require and intense concentration to maintain.

Name: Magen: Narakumi no Jutsu; Demonic Illusion: Hell View Technique
Rank: D
Effect: The opponent is ensnared by a whirlwind of leaves. Soon afterward, the foe will witness their greatest terror as though it were real.
Drawback: Can be broken if discovered.

Name: Magen: Shichi Naraku no Jutsu; Demonic Illusion: Seven Hells Technique ((Custom Jutsu))
Rank: A
Effect: Kirai ensnares an opponent in one of seven different nightmares. Depending on chakra consumed, the nightmare becomes more horrifying and causes more pain. At the seventh level, it may stop the opponent's heart.
Drawback: This technique will burn all of Ayame/Kirai's remaining non-vital chakra, rendering further combat nearly impossible. It also signals the end of Kirai's rampages, leaving an unconscious Ayame to awaken later.
Obviously, I'm up for changing anything that needs balancing. Otherwise, here's what I got.
I think I might be interested in this. Give me some time to write up a CS.
"So," Isabelle said out loud, "we have a creepy guy who makes people disappear, Ilario Stuff-Shirt who basically knows a lot, Vestiago who I'm assuming crushes skulls with his bare hands, Captain Edwin who used to be in the military, and last but not least, me." She finished off the last bite of her sweet roll, then continued. "For those wondering, I may not look it, but I'm actually a thief. Lockpicking, breaking into places, being sneaky, that sort of thing. I can get in and out of just about anywhere. The difference is that I can do it without killing everybody," she added, giving a playful nod to Creepy Guy. "Basically, if you need stealth, infiltration, or wisecracks and one-liners, I'm your girl!"
Ken sat against a tree, taking a moment to rest after having come so far. He and Froakie had been training throughout the forest, slowly but steadily making their way toward Santalune. They'd had a good run so far: Froakie could now use Bubble and Quick Attack. Unfortunately, they'd also exhausted nearly all of the Potions and Antidotes that Mai had given them. Ken chuckled at the memory. He and Froakie had gone straight for the forest, excited to catch new Pokemon. It wasn't until they had arrived at the entrance that Ken realized that he actually had no Pokeballs. He had raced back to the item shop, and Mai met him along the way. Sadly, according to her, there hadn't been any Pokeballs available for beginning Trainers. Mai had considered travelling together, but Ken had wanted to go at his own pace, so they agreed to split up and meet in the city. So, for the past hour, it had just been him and Froakie, who was currently squatting beside him peacefully.

"Hard to believe it's really happening, huh, Froakie?"

"Fro?" Froakie asked, his head cocked slightly.

"You and me," Ken explained. "It wasn't two hours ago that I was on my way to Aquecorde with Enyo and Mai. Now I'm here with my own Poké-Partner. And we're just sitting here in Santalune Forest, slowly making our way to becoming the very best out there."

"Fro..."

Ken smiled and closed his eyes. There was a nice breeze coming between the trees. He took a moment to appreciate the sheer natural beauty of the place he was in, then pushed himself up to his feet. "Well, nobody ever became the best by sitting against a tree all day. Let's go, Froakie! The others are probably already waiting for us."

"Fro!" Froakie answered. He hopped alongside Ken at a leisurely pace, keeping a sharp eye on the area around them. Ken kept his vigil as well. "Besides, we still have two of those Potions left," he told Froakie, "so I don't see anything wrong with getting a little extra training in along the way. Do you?"

"Fro!" Froakie said, clearly ready for training. He and Ken were a lot alike: both were young, but both were driven and determined. We make a great team, Ken thought. Together, they made their way to the rear of the forest, taking on any wild Pokemon that came their way.

"But I really wish I had some Pokeballs..." he sighed defeatedly.

"Frooo..." came Froakie's reply.
The moments before a battle were always the most chaotic. Sateena raced about the fortress, barking orders at everyone she came across. "You! Get those arrows distributed! You men! I want you in formation! Hear me? And you! Have Alpha and Beta prepared on both sides. I want both loads ready to drop at a moment's notice!"

"Ma'am! The Saramus forces are arriving in the valley! The Black Knight has currently not been spotted among their number!"

No Black Knight? If the rumors were true, then he might be further back. Or deploying elsewhere, but not within our sight right now. "Understood. Alert me as soon as somebody sees him. Is that clear?"

"Ma'am, yes ma'am!" the man saluted before running back to position. The chaos of preparation continued on for several moments, until finally, everything was prepared. Throughout the entire fortress, the tension filled the air, and the silence was palpable.

"This is it, men!" Sateena addressed the men, shouting to make her voice heard all throughout the fortress. "Our history will sing of this day: the day that Hadrum turned back the vicious onslaught of Sagamiim Valley! Our valor today will shine as brightly as that of King Sagamiim himself!" The soldiers all shouted cheers and war cries. "You've all heard the rumors: Saramus brings their 'glorious' Black Knight into battle. Well I say, who cares about the Black Knight? Is he not just a man? Is he not as mortal as you and me?" The men cheered in agreement. "I stand here today, your Princess and your General. I have seen the valor of you men face to face! And I would trust each of you with my life." The men cheered for her yet again. "And now we stand, teetering on the brink of battle. They believe that they will take this fort! They believe that they will kill our people! Do you know what I believe? I believe that they are wrong!"

"YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!" came the rousing reply.

"I believe that we are invincible! The mighty defenders of the Hadrum military! We will take their every attempt to penetrate this fortress, and we will throw it back in their faces!"

"YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

"Come stand with me today, and together, we'll teach a lesson they'll never forget!"

"YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

"Fight with me, my men! Fight for everything you hold dear! Fight for every family who calls you all a hero!" She drew her rapier and raised it high. "Let's send these dogs to Hell!"

"YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

The roaring cheers echoed throughout the fortress. Sateena hoped the Black Knight could hear them; every man in this fortress would defend it to the last. And she would be right there with them.

"Come, O fierce Knight. Let me show you how a General prepares." She moved her forces into position; now was the time for battle.

All that was left was to wait.
Isabelle stuck her tongue out at the arrogant man and simply nodded to the pipe smoker. She then took a seat at the main table, propped her feet up on it, and grabbed a sweet roll. Clearly, this food was made for nobility. She liked it. She liked it quite a bit. She noticed the note on the table but didn't bother looking at it; she figured Hawk would probably just explain everything when he finally arrived. Whenever that would be.

She sat and watched silently as two more individuals came into the tavern. First came an older-looking man that looked sufficiently armed. Not as armed as pipe-smoker over there, but pretty well armed. Next came a bigger guy who looked REALLY well armed; and by well armed, she meant his actual arms. They were huge! He was huge! She watched as the big man looked around the room and said, "Good. I will not be starting the night alone! Nice to meet you all. I am Vestiago! Let us all be friends!" He then went to sit down and have a drink. Isabelle stared at him for a moment, then glanced around at the other three. Poofy-clothes spoke next. "Now is as good a time to introduce myself, I suppose," he yelled, raising his wine glass. "You may call be Ilario Falegname. If your brain starts to hurt from thinking too much, leave the task to me."

Isabelle rolled her eyes. At least the big guy, Vestiago, seemed like fun. The rest of 'em just seemed like a bunch of stuffed-shirt nobles. Booooring. But, if they were going to be her teammates, she might as well play nice with them. Munching on another sweet roll, she gave a quick wave as Ilario finished his introduction. Then she decided to speak up. "I'm Isabelle. For those who didn't hear it, yes, I am the young, and yes, I'm meant to be here. Got the same invitation from Hawk as all of you. Cheers," she added, raising her sweet roll in place of a glass. I dunno. If you work it just right, even the stuffed-shirts can be kind of fun. Lookin' forward to seeing what this lot can do. And to proving 'em all wrong if they say I shouldn't be here. She smiled. This was going to be a fun line of work.
The skies were bright orange as the sun began to set. Clouds were starting to roll in, but rain still looked to be a few days away. A guardsman was stationed atop the main lookout tower, the sole figure that could be seen from outside. Rather than enjoying the fine weather, however, he was entirely tense and nervous. He had only just been deployed on his first mission, and his comrades below still considered him green. Nevertheless, he knew the signs of impending warfare just as well as everyone else. He could see them in the far distance, barely a speck upon the horizon. Yet the approaching army of Saramus was still going to be vast and dangerous, and anyone who felt otherwise was bound to end up dead. A large flock of carrion birds had already begun circling among the valley; even they knew the blood would start flowing. The guard swallowed nervously and continued to keep watch, observing all directions and keeping careful note of the approaching army's progress.

This was Sagamiim Fortress, named after the mighty king who originally conquered this valley in ancient times. It had stood for many a decade, but with careful upkeep and maintaining, it was still an indomitable location. At least, it was supposed to be. The armies of Saramus and Hadrum would today confirm whether that claim was legitimate. Princess Sateema strode through the various levels of the fortress, checking to make sure that every preparation was being completed to her exact specifications.

"What is the status of the fort's defenses?" she asked.

"Ma'am," her aid, Jason, replied. He was walking beside her with a small checklist. "Everything is progressing as scheduled. The men stand ready, and all weapons and armor have been repaired, sharpened, and polished. The weakness in the northern area was reinforced ten days ago, and has shown no signs of further issue. Also, all of the... special items have been prepared as you requested."

"And they were placed to my specifications?"

"Yes, ma'am. Exactly as you directed."

Sateena nodded. Sagamiim Fortress was located on top of a natural spire, making it the ideal place to defend. A single bridge, carved directly into the surrounding mountain by master stoneworkers, was the only way in or out of the fortress. Unless, of course, one was willing to risk the climb up the spire itself, which was dangerous even without archers shooting at you from above. She was prepared, in either case.

"Majesty," came a third voice. This one belonged to one of the fort's message runners. Due to her mutual stations, Sateena was often addressed as either "Majesty" or "General". She responded to either. "A report from the watchman."

"Report."

The messenger saluted. "The Saramus army continues to approach. By the watchman's estimate, they should arrive in no less than two hours, but no longer than three."

Sateena nodded. "Thank you. You are dismissed." The soldier saluted again and rushed to continue preparations. As she continued walking, Sateena found her thoughts drifting back to yesterday, when she had initially left for the fortress.
"I just don't understand why it has to be you," her mother told her, for what must have been the thirteenth time.

"Because, mother," she answered patiently as she continued to get dressed, "this fortress is the most important location in the Hadrum military. If we were to lose it, this war would be all but finished for us. We'd have only to wait for the Saramus executioners to arrive for us." She began buttoning her brown jacket.

"But that's my point," insisted her mother. "If this battle is so important, why must you be the one to go? There are plenty of other generals with decades of experience! Why not send one of them instead? Not to doubt your own ability, of course," she added.

Sateena smiled. "I told you, mother: the Black Knight is said to be deploying with the military for this fight. If he is the strongest blade in the Saramus military, it is only logical that he should be opposed by the most intelligent of the Hadrum generals." It wasn't an arrogant statement; she knew exactly who she was and what she was capable of. She slid on her boots and began to lace them up.

Her mother sighed. "I know that... I'm just concerned for you. You always seek to challenge yourself like this, and I'm just afraid that one day, you'll find a challenge you can't overcome. And then what will you do?"

"Die, I suppose." She said it so casually, but she couldn't keep a straight face after seeing the face her mother made. "I'm kidding, mother. If ever I should meet a challenge I cannot overcome, I shall simply fall back and try again, this time with a better plan of action." She began pinning on her ribbons and her signs of rank. "You know I've never let a simple man beat me." This was a joke shared between her and her mother; in the male-dominated culture of Hadrum, women were all-too often looked down upon. So, when Sateena had announced to her first platoon that she would be their commanding officer, one of the greener soldiers began insulting her (at the time, he had not known who she truly was), and she challenged him to a fistfight. She broke his nose and fractured three ribs. The men never insulted her again.

Finally, she turned to face her mother, her military uniform as crisp and clean as ever. "How do I look?"

Her mother stood and walked over to her. She brushed Sateena's hair back. "Strong and beautiful," she answered. Sateena smiled, and the two embraced in a loving hug.

Sateena smiled at the memory. Her mother had been there for her all her life, while her father, the King, cared only for Bryson, her older brother. She almost wished Bryson was here right now; for all their differences, both had a mutual respect for each other's combat capabilities.

But that was enough time dwelling in memories. She had a battle to win, a war to win, and she would do everything she could to see this fortress stand.

"Jason, come with me," she said to her aid. "We still have things to do before the battle begins. Has the mercenary group arrived yet?"

"Yes ma'am," Jason confirmed. "They are prepared and are awaiting your orders."

"Good." Sateena would speak to them first. She had prepared for every potential situation she could imagine. It had been expensive, but with the necessity of maintaining this fort, the Royal Treasurer had granted her all the funds she needed. Now, she had only to ensure that everything went according to plan, and to prepare for when it didn't.

The game has officially begun.
Hey Jordan, just letting you know, we took a temporary control of Enyo so you wouldn't be left out. It's only a small thing, though, and we didn't make you do anything outrageous.
Taking the hint from Mai, Ken whipped out his own Pokedex and added Chimchar and Froakie. He then took a moment to review Froakie's moveset. "Hmm... Pound and Growl, huh? It's not much, but we'll make it work." With that, he snapped his Pokedex shut. "Alright, here we go!" With that, Froakie and Chimchar leapt into battle!
Sure. Here or PM?
