Joe doing what he knows best.

"The best defense is a good offense."-
"On the road I follow there's only one direction, and that's forward. No lefts or rights or turning back. I'll fight anyone that's put in front of me, I don't care if you're bigger, stronger or even more talented. I'll fight you and i'll knock you out. Why? Because I can. I entered this business with one goal in mind. To escape mediocrity, to be great. And now I have only one more thing to do before I achieve it. And for my future opponent I have only one thing to say. May God have mercy on you when you enter the octagon with me. Because I won't!" - Joe "Machine Gun" Bernard. Quote spoken by Joe one year ago at a press conferrence that preceeded Joe's title match against UFC Middleweight champion, at the time, John Barnes.
Name: Joe Bernard
Nicknames: Machine Gun
Age: 29
Place of Birth: New York City, USA
Occupation: MMA fighter signed to UFC and current reigning UFC Middleweight champion.
Personality/History: Born in a middle class family, Joe wanted to learn how to fight ever since he was a child, after watching Bruce Lee movies. He started training in MMA as a teenager. He was coached by his uncle, Travis Blake. Of course, Joe's family didn't quite approve of the path that he chose for himself in life, but Joe was determined to go all the way with this. After a very promising amateur career, Joe signed with UFC and debuted at the age of 22. He became famous for his impressive fighting spirit and his offensive and agressive style of fighting, thus earning the nickname Machine Gun. After 3 years in the Welterweight category Joe decided to move to Middleweight. Hiss big break in the Middleweight category came last year when he became nr. 1 contender for the UFC Middleweight title. After months of preparation and a very intense fight Joe emmerged victorious and won the UFC Middleweight title, which he successfully defended twice up to this point. Three years ago he chose to move from New York, which, in his own words, he became pretty sick of and moved to Orange County, California.
Once in O.C. Joe bought a medium sized mansion on Hollywood Road and has been living there ever since. His parents still live in New York, Joe's relationship with them kind of sucks mostly because they are upset of the decisions that Joe has made in life. Although he won millions from fighting and commericals Joe is still the same simple person he's always been. Aside from the mansion and his cars, nothing about him denotes that he is rich and living the life. He is a very determined person with a "never back down" attitude. All the success he had so far made him somewhat arrogant, but Joe is careful not to cross the line when he does that. He seems like a tough guy and he actually is, not tolerating crap from anyone. Joe has a soft spot for women. He is also the kind of guy that likes to say exactly what's on his mind, not hiding from anything or anyone.
Joe's popularity started to descrease lately though. This is because his image was damaged by two scandals. In the first, one night, 5 months ago, he was caught by the Orange County Police speeding, and as if that wasn't bad enough, he was half-drunk too. Two months later photos appeared on tabloids with him him picking up a hooker. Joe's reaction when he was asked what he thinks of the photos and what happened that night was shocking. He said..."Yes! I spent that night with a hooker. It wasn't the first time and it certanly won't be the last. Whoever can't deal with it, that's not my problem. I'm not an angel. Nor did I claim to be one." He said.
