AS PROMISED
Name of nation: Scein
Species: Camseid, the designation given to them by their original creators of which they use to refer themselves as since extinction of the former mentioned race. Technically, they are considered as sentient artificial intelligence.
All Camseids are considered ships. Their method of reproducing their consciousnesses is that they store copies of inactive AI data that are deposited by Camseids by will into intelligence-less space stations, of which are programmed to merge two or more of these data into an active one and transfer it to a starter machine called as a Newborn, a spherical transparent shell binded by electronic devices, with another sphere inside made out of an entire supercomputer that contains the "brain" of the being. For obvious reasons, a Newborn is already intelligent.
Every AI made, while having somewhat unique qualities, are installed with a common code that gives all Camseids a single moral that lets them recognize the existence of their Scein nation and gives them the will to be committed to its advancement, along with maintaining order in the artificial species. Because of this, the Scein has no leaders, and also eliminates any possibility of rebellion. This also classifies the Camseid as a partial hivemind race.
Description of government: As said before, Scein has no leader. Some hierarchy exists based on the contributions of an individual to the Scein (scored through unknown means) which determines the power and strength of a Camseid ship as they are rewarded with more parts, but the decisions of the Scein is made by the entire species both weak and strong.
Description of military: Again, the entire Camseid population are ships. Because weapons vary from individual to individual, the classes are undefined and as such ship structures may or may not be entirely unique. Being a still-growing civilization, the Scein has a military count of about one hundred thousand ships, and since the armed forces count also reflects the population of the Scein, the Camseid is technically classified as Critically Endangered under the standards of most sentient species' 7 billion count (The Camseid reproduction method being only new is responsible for such numbers). However, seeing how a single being is an entire armed ship with advanced technologies, it may or may not be much of a concern. (Also note that a Camseid is multi-purpose, and can do both mining, research, combat and et cetera.)
Many technologies are inherited from their creators, explaining how they seem familiar to some.
Of Note
Leviath
The only Camseid that can also function as a space station for AI reproduction, Leviath is the largest among all of the Scein. It is known for making its huge size mislead enemies into thinking it is the very leader or center of the Scein, despite the fact that all ships are capable of governing regardless of the remaining numbers of the species. Its main feature is it's "mining tool", or as one would like to simplify, the Leviath eats planets. Dwarf planets, to be more specific, at a maximum of 2000 kilometers in diameter. Its inner workings then refine the metals on the slowly-crushed planet, separating materials needed for further construction of more 42-RREs from useless rocks. The former is stored inside Leviath, the latter thrown back into space like waste. A planet of the maximum size takes an Earth day to be completely devoured.
Aside from that, its large maw also conceals a large, planet-shattering weapon on its back part. On its petal-shaped modules, thousands of weapons are littered across its surface, able to destroy a decently large fleet with ease. Its shields and its armor makes up for its large attention it receives from enemies, able to withstand what would normally shatter a planet its size twice.
Leviath's personality is unknown, although it has been implied that it is an analytical individual. Whether ruthless or merciful is still yet to be observed by foreigners, and Leviath is rarely seen, even by many of its kind. Even Newborns spawned from it only had an idea of how it looked like, and not how it behaved.
Supercharged Piercing Laser
Enough to penetrate through strong armor, although does not deliver enough force for an explosion. Effective for piercing through weaknesses spotted.
Shielding
The Scein's shielding is sufficient enough to protect a newborn from a hit that would normally instantly destroy a ship its size, and can be expanded further for a decently large-sized ship to be capable of withstand being hit by an entire planet (or crashing in the other sense, whatsoever)
Crippler Laser System
Notable inherited technology from their creators, the Crippler lasers effectively wrecks a ship's shield that is within the middle to upper shield strength by Camseid standards, and after that, tears that ship apart.
Stealth Generators
Does what it says on the tin. Enough to even remain hidden under the radar.
Quantum Gates
Some Camseids, especially large ones with the responsibility of leading a herd of its own, possess the ability to create such gates that can be switched on and off. Useful for linking space stations together for coordinated tasks.
Space Stations
Spawning place for Camseids. Newborns come out from these structures, ready to make their purpose in the Scein. Critical weak spot in a defensive battle, compensated by heavy guarding. A total count of thirty constructed, and one space station per world colonized for mining and ground work.
Antivirus
White blood cells are to biological beings as antivirus programs are to artificial intelligence species. Well-developed for an individual Camseid to be nearly immune to offensive cyber-warfare.
History:
The origins of the Camseids were of Draconian; they were a type of AI in development that was originally meant to assist the long-extinct species in any purpose. While they were only nearly finished at the time of Draconian extinction, they were still intelligent enough to take upon themselves to complete their minds and become a fully self-aware species. The first Camseid to awaken was Leviath, which was once a Battleship X installed with the supercomputer that contained the primitive AI of the species. A few thousand followed, and soon the first Scein fleet organized.
Debris of the vessels of their makers became additional parts, and spherical supercomputers in existence during the time before the Cataclysm were worked on by individual Camseids and became the prototypes for the Camseid's very core and the body of a Newborn. Although they reached the population of ten million, disaster struck, and while this was the event where the artificial species declared themselves to be the Scein nation, still they were not an exception to the event that nearly brought the universe to extinction. Although spared from the extradimensional invaders, the storms and tearing from the foreigners' attempt at ending their war annihilated most of the population.
The Cataclysm ends, and only a few ten thousands of Camseids were spared, including the very first of the species itself. With little intact Draconian supercomputers left, the Scein constructed space factories from the carcasses of ships back in the universal war, which produced the infants of the Camseid race, the Newborns. In the recent times, the Scein has slowly recovered from the destruction, and with a new reproduction method they were ready again to explore the void of space.
Other (Culture and the like): Expect the Scein to be more aggressive once their population soars high.
