Hey! I'm still learning, I didn't realize there was an OOC thread.

Anyway I thought it'd be cool to play the 'generic anime character' trope rather than being someone who was sucked into the world. I hope that is alright.

You have a ship of the Imagination, where would you go?

Something Dr. Tyson said on an episode of Cosmos was the suggestion that the inside of a black hole might hold another universe. And our universe is in fact the inside of a black hole in another universe, and so on. It made me start to think about what those other universes could be like. Would they be governed under the same physics and elements that we have or would it be something completely different that you'd never imagine in your wildest dreams? And if each universe starts with the birth of a black hole, what started the first black hole, or even the first universe? It completely boggles my mind, I've been thinking about it deeply the past three days.

If I had a ship of the imagination, that is what I would do with it.

Hello!

I'm SushiKitten, I go by 'sushi', 'kitten', 'kitty', 'hey you'. I'm from Canada and I am a third year university student studying computer engineering, it's lots of fun. Outside of school I have an interest in robotics and game development. In school last semester, we made a video game from scratch in pairs. It wasn't absolutely amazing, ours was supposed to be like Touhou but really it was pretty much like Space Invaders where the aliens shot back, but I really enjoyed that project and I'm looking at making my own game over the summer using the skills that I learned.

Uh, roleplaying wise, I've been roleplaying since junior high. I stopped after high school because it took me a while to get used to university, and the work load was a lot more than I'm used to, but lately I've been feeling a bit down. I want to be creative and draw and write like I used to, but I'm not used to letting it go anymore. All I can do is stare at a blank page or word document. So I'm hoping roleplaying again will help me come out of my shell, creativity wise.

But yeah, hope to see you guys on the other boards!

Everyone has something that they're passionate (or geeky) about, honestly. Whether it's video games or books or shoes and make-up. Now people who are like "omg I was on facebook for three hours straight last night I'm such a nerd lol" are annoying but don't judge someone if they call themselves a nerd but don't look the part. Most people who are labeled as "fake geeks" are the ones who are new to something and really want to learn about it, and it's terms like this that drive them away. Everyone expects them to be experts at everything right off the bat, and if they slip up, they're suddenly fake.

In terms of actual sexism in nerdery, I haven't come across any in my community. If anything, it kind of feels the opposite. I'm the only female in my computer engineering class and some profs will correct themselves because I am there. Like, "okay guys-no wait guys and girls". It's really awkward and I wish they wouldn't do it.

Kimiko bolted upright to the ringing sound of her alarm. She bopped the top of the clock to stop it's insistent wake up call. What an amazing dream... she had finally confessed to her senpai and he accepted her feelings. Everyone at school was so jealous.

Wait.. school... She glanced at the clock. Twenty-five after eight...? School started in five minutes! Kimiko bolted out of bed, stripped from her green chick patterned pajamas to put on her school uniform. She hurriedly brushed out her hair and brushed her teeth. Bouncing on one foot as she hauled the second sock on, she took a quick glance in the mirror to make sure she didn't look completely awful before rushing down the stairs and into the kitchen.

"Kimiko, you're going to be late aga-"

"I know mom! Don't worry!" Kimiko interrupted as she grabbed the last piece of toast and hurried out the door. She slid to the front door, holding the toast in her mouth, threw on her backpack and slipped into her shoes. "I'mff go-inf now!" she called out through the slice of toast before rushing out the door and making a beeline for school.

School... they said there wouldn't be just one, but multiple transfer students today! Kimiko couldn't wait to meet them.
