Dani was about to write down that she thought they had Flying as their next class, not something that Dani was particularly looking forward to considering her fear of heights, when she noticed that Roze had trailed off. A quick glance at her friend revealed that she had stiffened up considerably, a clear sign that something had unnerved her, which was odd considering the fact that Roze was usually bold and fearless.

Before Dani could make any attempt to discern what had spooked her friend, Roze was lifted off the ground and sent flying down the hallway, knocking the smaller girl down in the process. Vaguely aware of what was going on around her, it was all Dani could do to cover her head as the reflected spell hit the ceiling and caused pieces of debris to rain down upon the group, though the slight stinging sensation as tiny rock shards hit her arms did help her shake off the daze.

By the time Dan yelled at her to get Roze to the infirmary, a funny joke had the situation not been so serious, Dani was already pushing herself up off the ground, doing her best to ignore the dizziness that washed over her whenever she moved too fast. Still, the notion that Roze was in need of medical attention, as conveyed by Dan’s instructions to get her to the infirmary, helped spur the smaller girl to action despite the fact that her head was still ringing something awful.

As Dani reached Roze, ignoring the fight between Wade and Dan on the stairway nearby, she heard an older woman’s voice cut through the chaos and suddenly found herself entirely unable to move. The sound of heels clicking on the floor echoed in the silence as the headmistress made her way to the two girls first, unfreezing them and casting a spell to slow the bleeding on Roze’s arm before instructing them to head to the infirmary and then her office when they were patched up.

Instructions given, the headmistress turned to Dan and Wade, her expression furious and unforgiving. Glad to have been spared the brunt of her wrath, Dani offered a hand to Roze to help her up if she needed it. Once Roze was on her feet, the two of them began to make their way to the infirmary, Dani trying desperately to ignore how everything seemed to bob and sway, including herself. It was very… disconcerting to say the least.

@Tip I actually think that Sgt is waiting on you. He posted last.
<Snipped quote by TaliPaendrag>

Yeah should probably fix that. But, Dan must check on Roze! And, there is no way, he is gonna tell the truth about the Roze telling peeves thing, he'll just say 'You know how peeves is, right?' Plus, she (the headmistress)has more stuff to do, so she can't right now.

I can think of very few realistic scenarios that would be so important that the headmistress opts to fail to figure out what exactly happened between two students who were slinging spells at one another. With the pacing of your post, it's also very reasonable that she discovered them fighting before Dani and Roze were able to get up and make significant progress towards the infirmary, especially if Roze was a little disoriented as there's no way that Dani, who is quite small, was moving Roze by herself.

The best thing to do, in my opinion, is to allow Eyeris to write the headmistress's reaction and how she handles the situation, even if it delays any kind of scene between Dan and Roze. Odds are, that Dani and Roze would be questioned as well, especially if we buy into the line that they got caught in the scene by the headmistress as well.

Should I add that the spell affected him in some way? Like a burn on his wand arm or something?

I'm not the one making the final call, but it seems that turning the stairs into a ramp would be a rather advanced transmutation spell for a first year, or even a second or third year, to be casting successfully at all, even if it did send him flying back or burning his arm. If I'm not mistaken, first years only learn the basics of transfiguration, like turning a matchstick into a needle.

Even if his father taught him the spell, it's unlikely that he would have the practice or knowledge to actually make the spell stick as it did. A far more reasonable result would be making a section of a single stair a ramp, or simply making the stair Wade was standing on slippery. While obviously not what the spell was supposed to do, it's close enough to the actual result for a first year who has a rudimentary understanding of a complex spell.

Despite accomplishing the same task, i.e. slowing Wade down/making him fall down the stairs, it's a vastly more realistic approach considering the abilities of a first year student from a Wizard family, especially when you consider the fact that it's the first day.

Ultimately, however, the decision as to whether your post is okay as is or not is Eyeris's, as she is the GM.
While I can't speak for Eyeris as to whether Dan's spell was too successful or not, I do find it kind of hard to believe that the headmistress wouldn't take Dan and Wade into her office to figure out the whole story, even if she gave them detention before she heard either side. It just seems really irresponsible for an authority figure at the school, no less the headmistress, to hope they would stop because she said so and be on her way.
I went ahead and ended lunch, but I'll let Abysmal write us into the hallway. :D
Having been to the United States only once, specifically New York City and Niagara Falls, for her aunt’s wedding many years ago, Dani wasn’t familiar at all with California. As such, Dan mentioning that he was from California didn’t really evoke any kind of specific response from Dani apart from the mild curiosity that usually accompanies hearing of an location with which one is unfamiliar.

The way that Dan’s tone and posture changed as he mentioned his mother did not go unnoticed by Dani, who figured that something had more than likely happened to his mother, like some sort of serious illness. Though she felt bad for him, she couldn’t imagine something like that happening to her mother, Dani kept her speculation to herself. It really wasn’t any of her business, and if had wanted to talk about it, he wouldn’t have cut himself off like he had.

After a brief moment of silence, Dan asked where they were from, though Dani assumed that he was mostly interested in hearing a response from Roze and was just including her to be polite. As expected, Roze answered the question immediately, explaining that she was from Yorkshire, though her father’s family was from Italy, and that she had moved around a lot when she was younger.

Figuring that it would have been rude to have written down a response to Dan’s question while Roze was talking, Dani didn’t have a response prepared, leading to a few awkwardly silent, at least in Dani’s mind, moments as she wrote down a response. ”You mean it’s not obvious?” the board read when she revealed it, an expression of surprise on her face.

After she was fairly sure that both had seen it, she erased what was written and began writing again. ”Just kidding. I’m from Seaham in the North East region. It’s not a very big town, but there’s plenty to do when you’re bored and it’s right on the coast.” She had many fond memories of going on day trips to the beach with her family, especially when her extended family came in for a reunion or something.

Around that time, Dani noticed that most of the other people in the Dining Hall were getting up and leaving, presumably to carry on with their schedule. As she was thinking that it would be a good idea to get up and get moving as well, an older Ravenclaw student paused on her way passed them. ”You should probably get going to your next class, you guys. You don’t want to be late and give the professors a bad impression on the first day.

Nodding, Dani placed her glass on the table and spun around to slip off the edge of the bench, though she opted to wait for Roze and Dan to come with her, taking the time to gather her bag and her whiteboard.

Dani was rather glad that Roze had gotten the hint and introduced her to the new boy, even including the fact that she was mute before he could pester her with questions about why she wasn’t saying anything. Peeves, apparently growing rather bored picking on Dan, turned his attention towards Roze and speculating that she was probably using her shape changing talent to hide the fact that she was ugly.

Roze took it in good humor, mock threatening to hex him and give him a hairy chin, before introducing herself as the sister to a boy named Leo who had apparently been a comrade of the old ghost and suggesting that he might get a better reaction if he pranked the Slytherin Quidditch team by dumping a bowl of fish stew on their heads.

Dani, who had been finishing her meal in relative peace, couldn’t help but give Roze a disapproving look as the ghost went through with her suggestion. To her, that kind of behavior went a little too far, even if Roze wasn’t on particularly friendly terms with the Slytherin Quidditch team for the events of the previous day. From the shaking heads around the table, most of the other Ravenclaws didn’t approve of the ghost’s antics either, though it didn’t seem like they knew that Roze had had anything to do with it.

Resolving to send the poor Slytherins an air freshener or two if she got the chance, Dani placed her utensils on her plate, unable to eat another bite despite having eaten very little, and grabbed her drink as the new boy explained that he had been Apparated, whatever that was, to the village outside the school because he had missed the train. That’s when he noticed that Roze’s hair had changed color, asking why that was.

Dani, having never asked for an explanation due to feeling that she would be thought of as dumb if she did so, was kind of glad to hear that someone else had the same question, especially because that someone wasn’t a Muggleborn like she was. Roze explained that she was something known as a Empathetic Metamorphmagus, and that her hair and eyes changed color according to her mood. Honestly, Dani was a little disappointed with the explanation, as it did nothing to answer the why or how.

Roze, however, apparently felt that it was an adequate enough explanation, shifting the conversation to talk about Dan’s time in America, though Dani didn’t remember him mentioning where he was from. Maybe Roze picked up on some clue that other Americans that she had met displayed? Dani did notice that, shortly after asking the question, Roze seemed to be a bit more somber, though Dani couldn’t guess why that would be.

Feeling as though she would just be intruding on their conversation if she gave any input, Dani simply listened while she enjoyed her drink, her whiteboard at hand in case either of them wanted her to join in on the conversation despite how much it would slow everything down waiting on her.
I know I'm a little late to the discussion, but I think that the reason that the Slytherins are often portrayed as being nasty is that it's primarily full of rich kids who have been taught that they are better than others because of their heritage and wealth. Due to their upbringing, these kids would probably also have a lot of self-confidence, which makes them more likely to become bullies, especially if they consider those of less pure blood status to be inferior to them. Additionally, the traits that the Slytherins idealize, cunning and ambition, more easily support malevolent intentions than say bravery or good work ethic, which made them easy targets for Voldemort's recruitment plan.

While it certainly seems that the Slytherin house was set up to be an antagonist in the early books, it is important to remember that, as Prints said, that the perspective is of a young boy and his friends who are constantly being antagonized by a group of Slytherins. Towards the end of the series, however, we see that the Slytherins are not primarily evil, especially considering only one Slytherin suggests giving Harry to Voldemort and they join in the Battle for Hogwarts with reinforcements from Hogsmeade.

----

Having no knowledge of the Houses beyond general traits as stated by the Sorting Hat (a fairly neutral source), Dani has no preconceived notions as to the character of people in other Houses or even her own. In fact, despite being a tad upset with Wade and those he had been fighting with for getting her in trouble (she, Pearleane, and Peter had done nothing), she doesn't harbor any resentment towards the other members of the team or the House. She actually has a fairly good opinion of Tim at least for being rational and listening to her suggestion that he try and stop Wade from escalating things.

In other news, I will try and get a post up soon. :D

Haha, not sure where Roze has her stance on the whole relationship thing at this point in her life, so I think we're safe so far when it comes to third-wheeling. I have a feeling she'd find the whole falling in love at 11 thing quite pathetic - so she'll be giving Layla and Ajax a few more withering looks in the near future I bet. XD Not that she'd friendzone poor Dan - maybe get a bit further in the dreaded puberty thing first haha.

Detention together sounds fun though - however, Dan doesn't have detention, and neither does Dani, I think? Perhaps the three should participate in some late-night escapades and get caught, thus giving detention to all; pushing it up to two for poor Roze. Looks like she'll be setting a record. :)

I also reckon lunch would finish pretty soon. What lesson is next?

Eh, Dani tends to get roped into whatever's going on anyway. Not being able to speak means that she often doesn't get a chance to say no before she gets dragged along, which is one of the biggest reasons why she's a real pushover.
