Fab, when it comes to portraying a character believably, you might be the best this site has.

There's no need to build a labyrinth when the entire universe is one.

Bio

Well, this was my account. Had my fair share of memories of the guild, both good and bad. I hope you all have a great time here and keep getting better at RPing and writing. Myself, I've fallen out of love with roleplaying in general, and this site in particular. There's still good people here, but I've learned enough and seen enough that I'm not confident this site is going good places. Tanderbolt's moving on. Where am I going after this? I don't know, but to quote Raymond Carver, "I'm always learning something. Learning never ends.". Good night, ladies, good night

James liked the enthusiasm that everyone had, even if he was more reserved. This concert evidently meant a lot to them, but for James it was just another show. He didn't have any dreams of fame or living a rock and roll lifestyle, he just wanted to make some music. Heck, if this band ever got too big, he might just want to go back to his old life.

It was neat to see that some of the others wanted to improvise too. He thought for a moment about his plan for the concert, what patches to use for what songs. KJ liked to keep the low end to himself, and two violins was plenty for the highs. He'd stick to sounds that were more in the midrange, trying not to conflict with the guitar. Of course, he'd venture all around the audio spectrum, but it helped to get make sure that no frequencies got cluttered and muddy. When playing with a group, he was also careful to leave the job of keeping up the beat to the drums, occasionally he'd add in some sampled percussion, but too much would be confusing and hard to follow.

After hearing what everyone else had to say, he put on his headphones and flipped down his visor, ready to play. Until the show started, he kept the volume low, so he could hear any last minute instructions.
I'll post tonight, I was working on a post but the server ate and I hadn't copied and pasted it. Sorry about the delay. Also, was Meuxie's character accepted? She's not listed on the character sheet, so I wasn't sure.
James was setting up his gear in one of the back corners of the stage, sitting on a bench in front of the small folding table where he had set down his laptop and his synthesizer. It took several checks, but he finally was sure that his audio set up was correct, he was feeding the synth's audio into his computer, which let him control the volume or add software effects more easily. After that, he tried out the knobs and buttons to make sure he had assigned them all to the right controls in Ableton, also making sure to test his footpedal and the Akai he used for versatility. When he was satisfied that his controllers all functioned properly, he looked over the set list and his notes on which patches and effects chains he needed for each song. It saddened him a little to see that none of their most experimental songs had made the cut, but James understood that it probably wasn't the best idea to launch an assault of avant-garde noise in this venue.

The others seemed excited, especially KJ, but it didn't matter that much to James. Making music was what he enjoyed, and he didn't care who bothered to listen. Before putting on his headphones to do a final audio check, he asked the others a question. "Are we just playing all of these straight, or can we embellish a little? Heck, we could even add some time for some full fledged improvising."
Name: James Saunderson
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Orientation: Asexual
Position in Band: Synth, could play keyboard if needed, but isn't particularly skilled at it
Instrument: used either on its own or as a midi controller for a software synth running on his laptop
Personality: James is a withdrawn man, and doesn't speak when he doesn't need to. He is stubborn, and doesn't like to compromise. He seems calm but serious, though he is more jovial when he is around people he knows well. He really enjoys learning and teaching, and likes to help those in need, even though he rarely shows it externally.
Favorite Bands: Miles Davis, Flying Lotus, Squarepusher, Carl Craig, Kraftwerk, Charles Ives
Hobbies/Skills: In addition to making music, James enjoys coding, working with electronics, and reading about history.
Job: Computer Programmer
Bio: James was an only child, born into a poor family, and never had much musical training. Though his parents loved him and cared about him, they both worked long hours to make ends meet. James became quiet and reserved due to the lack of social interaction. He always liked listening to music, and was fascinated by computers from a young age. Once he had saved up enough money to buy an old computer of his own, he began to compose music using whatever free software he could find. He also used his computer to practice programming, a skill which would eventually become his career. Jame's love of music led him to join his school jazz band, but he had to quit because his family could not afford the expenses.

In high school, James worked hard, doing especially well in history and math. He made friends with a few of the other musically inclined students in his grade, and produced beats for his friends to rap over. The results were never very good, but it was fun to make music with other people. The group broke up when James began to make more complex, experimental compositions, which didn't fit with the club friendly style that the rest of the group liked. Soon after that, James graduated, and went to college.

Choosing his major was a hard decision. He really loved music, but he knew that it wouldn't pay the bills after he finished college and his scholarship ended. James chose computer science for practical reasons, and did well even though he didn't get along with many of his peers. He found work as a freelance computer programmer after graduation, which has allowed him to escape the poverty that he was born into. James likes this more comfortable lifestyle, but still enjoys the experience of making music with a group.

Appearance:

When on stage he wears formal clothes and a visor that hides his face. He say that this is because musicians should be properly dressed, and he wants people to focus on his music, not on him.

L3TS ROCK, there are two threes (L33TS ROCK?)

Also, if we're allowed to play two characters, I'd be up for making the manager if no one else wants it.
While they were reading their letters, Ilya had gathered some basic supplies for the trip back. He made sure to bring a rucksack with some basic medical equipment, a few guides, and some woodland survival gear. The equipment in this world was more sophisticated than what he had used during his adventures in the old world, but they both served the same purpose. His load was smaller, which was especially important because he did not have a horse to bring with him on the journey. He also made sure to bring his rifle, an old Kalashnikov, with him, hoping that he would not have to use it. Lastly, he picked up an old envelope, with the words "for myself" stamped on it in cyrillic. He knew what documents it held, though that did not bring him any comfort.

During his search, he found the cassock and staff that Mei's parents had told him to hold onto, and handed them to her when she had finished reading her letter. He didn't really know what their purpose was, but he hoped it would help them. Ilya thought Mei was the most interesting of the young royals, being raised at a buddhist temple could lead to some interesting conversation topics during downtime. He though it was lucky that he was able to find everyone so quickly and that they were willing to go along with him. Delay could make them less eager, it was probably best to make the trip as soon as possible even if it meant leaving some of the others, like Belle, behind.

After he had gathered his supplies, he heard that all three of the royals wanted to go to the old world. Ilya took a deep breath, and said a short prayer to himself. He said "It looks like everyone agrees. I'll take you the the other realm, but you have to remember that it might be dangerous. I'll try to keep you safe, but I do not know how well I can protect you. Let's hope that everything turns out alright." After his short speech, Ilya pulled the pendant that he had been given out of his pocket, and clutched it tightly. "Ok everyone, come close when you are ready."

It had been a long time since he had visited the old world, and he had grown less fond of it over the years. The changes had made it barely recognizable, and Ilya had grown to like life on earth. Going back would be hard for him too, but he knew had to help save his home. When everyone had gathered in a tight circle around him, Ilya opened his hand and let the pendant take them into the realm of fairy tales. The blinding light dazed even someone as stoic as him, but he recovered quickly. He took a moment to look at their surroundings, and found that they were in a clearing next to castle. It looked like a generic fairy tale castle, though a trained eye could pick out the french aspects of the architecture. Ilya decided to check his maps while he listened to the reactions of his companions.
I'm here, I just haven't been on much, I'll post tomorrow (kinda busy today).
I'd like to make John Henry. If American folklore doesn't qualify as fairy tales, I'll make someone else.
I finished my relationship sheet.
I'll get my relationship sheet up tomorrow.
