Fab, when it comes to portraying a character believably, you might be the best this site has.

There's no need to build a labyrinth when the entire universe is one.

Bio

Well, this was my account. Had my fair share of memories of the guild, both good and bad. I hope you all have a great time here and keep getting better at RPing and writing. Myself, I've fallen out of love with roleplaying in general, and this site in particular. There's still good people here, but I've learned enough and seen enough that I'm not confident this site is going good places. Tanderbolt's moving on. Where am I going after this? I don't know, but to quote Raymond Carver, "I'm always learning something. Learning never ends.". Good night, ladies, good night

If I don't get anyone to take up the steampunk side I might write an essay on why cyberpunk is better anyway, my hateboner for steampunk is strong.
DC/Marvel Characters Used: Marvel's Dr. Strange and DC's John Constantine
Name: Stephen S. Constantine
Alias: Dr. Constantine
Age: 33
Powers: Dr. Constantine is one of Earth's foremost magicians, and has learned a great number of spells over the years. He also has a few magical artifacts, the most notable are his trenchcoat which allows him to levitate, and his cigarette lighter which helps counter other spells.
Weaknesses: Magic spells require him to use his hands and his voice, he is unable to cast them without them being unimpeded. Dr. Constantine is an average man in less than peak physical condition, he isn't any more durable than any other person off the street. He is prone to cowardice, and prefers to run away when it looks like the situation is getting bad.
Team Affiliation: None
Personality: Cunning, Adaptable, Cynical, Sarcastic, Generous
Appearance:

BRIEF Bio: Stephen's father was a magician and habitual petty criminal, the amount of trouble he got it led Stephen to take a different track. Stephen worked hard and went to medical school, eventually becoming a surgeon. However, a car accident damaged his hands severly and jeopardized his career. He turned to his fathers old ways, intent on making a living offering magical cures for people's ailments. Unfortunately for Stephen, magic is not always consistent and little respected, and he acquired a reputation as a charlatan, eventually losing to him being stripped of his license to practice medicine. Now Dr. Constantine makes his living as an occult specialist, dealing with those who have problems of a mystical nature.

So I'm a tad confused. Does this RP take place on the same planet as ours, and this is simply player-created alt-history. Or is this a 'pseudo-earth' with alternate continents, etc and ALL history is left up to players? To make my question a bit more simple, if this takes place in our world, what point would the 'time divergence' happen? What events played out differently to ALLOW such major divergences?

History is entirely up to the players, other than the fact that there was a large world war that reshuffled the balance of power and ended recently. There is no clear point of divergence, it would be long before industrialization if there was one, but we're using the real world map. It's gotten a little closer to real world history than I thought it would thanks to the nation bios submitted so far, but I'm flexible about the direction people want to take it.
Two Superpowers, to recreate the Cold War (if we somehow get a ton of people we could add a third). All of the location request so far (British isles for Illuvatar, North Africa for Inkdrop, and China for Kimiyosis) are approved. @BingTheWing Communists can be a factor, or you could invent your own revolutionary movement. If the communists did exist, I imagine that they'd still oppose capitalism, but the individual factions vary, not all wholeheartedly embraced the Stalinist style of totalitarianism, and it's up to the players if these other factions are prominent.
I can see how Steampunk and Mario debaters could want to team up seeing how neither of them can let go of the past

And I guess Sonic and MRA debaters have a certain kinship because neither of them have ever had sex.

I meant like having two people presenting arguments for cyberpunk pitted against two people who are arguing for steampunk, like debate team or some opposing viewpoints books I've seen, but just having one person per side is easier to manage.
I'll take up the Cyberpunk side. Y'know, you could make it pairs for each side or even teams if there's enough interest in a topic.
Histories don't have to stretch that far back, just cover the most recent war a little bit about about your nation in the modern era, you don't have to cover anything preindustrial. The references to World War One are fine, unless someone else has a beef with them.

NPC Nations

The world map will go here once it's been created.
Looks good, a lot of detail on the history section. That's a good thing, but it's also fine if someone wants to give less when making their application. I wouldn't count distrustful of other nations as a disadvantage, as it's more about how the nation approaches diplomacy rather than a feature of their society. If that distrust was strong enough that they reject the influence of other nations even when doing so makes modernization and development harder, you could take Entrenched Traditions. As is it's accepted, and you can post it in the characters tab. As of your bio, I guess there was a first world war in this world also, but I'll leave the details of what happened in it up to whoever wants to fill them in.

Bing, that's a good idea but I'm not sure how I want to handle it. I'll make an edit to the OP soon with something to address that.
