Don't mind me. I'm just trying this status thing.
Bio
All you need to know about me is this.
I'm 17. Male. Born and raised in a country which you've probably never heard of. I've been RPing since quite a while, and I'm not very proud of that. My first RP experiences were in Chatango, where I fumbled with words like a timid inmate in a prison shower. Looking back at it, my Chatango escapades were pretty cringe worthy, but then again I'll probably feel the same about my RPG escapades when I look back at them 10 years from now, in the comfort of my bayside yacht while Playboy bunnies rub my hairless chest (to be clear, I don't have a medical condition that prevents hair from coming out, but I figure I'll be rich enough to wax them in a weekly basis by then). Hell, ten seconds after I'm done with this, I'll probably regret it. Hard.
Anyway, onto my preferences.
You may find my preferences pretty specific, honestly. It's also the main reason why I have been struggling to get an RP going for several years now. Actually, just one. Just one year. But I digress. I dislike medieval fantasy settings, which, much to my dismay, make 60 percent of this guild. I dislike most fandom-related RPs. Same goes to the multiverse ones. Unless you're going with a really original take on the series, there's a chance that I won't be interested in it. I am not one for Nation RPs, although I can see the appeal. This has less to do with me not liking it, and more with me being inept at managing a country. If, by any chance, you've got a modern conspiracy RP or anything where the government (or a powerful organization of the likes) is wrecking havoc, I'm in. I know what you might be thinking; "This guy's a fucking weirdo". Yeah, well there's a likelihood that you've been in this Guild more than me, so who the fuck are you to judge? I just like modern military RPs. My book shelf is filled with Tom Clancy novels, Robert Ludlum, Mr. Ian Motherfucking Fleming, the man who started it all - I'm addicted to this shit. I don't mind it if there's a slight blend of fantasy/sci-fi in it, if you've got an RP which matches what I just described, feel free to PM me with a link. Mystery also happens to be my cup of tea.
I've also been trying to broaden my horizon recently, so I have no problem with joining RPs which up until yesterday I considered out of my safe zone. I've always been a fan of superhero/superpower RPs, as long as they're gritty and grounded. Slice of life, romance - turns out I actually enjoy that stuff. They allow me to let loose my inner teenager. I'm currently in a zombie RP which hasn't started yet, so while there's no telling how much I'll enjoy it, I can, again, see the appeal. I can adjust myself to playing a plethora of different male characters; psychos, cowards, badasses, et cetera, but I can't play women for some reason. Before someone labels me a sexist, trust me, it's not because of that.
So, this is me. Again, if you have any RP that you think I might like, throw it in. I'll take a look. No promises.
Question; what's colorless, complicated, ruthless and boring? Answer;life.
It's hard to be a sane person nowadays. You come home from school/work, and the first thing you notice is the load of bills stacked up in front of your door. Turning up the TV reveals another catastrophe, another reason for your faith in this world to vanish. If you are unlucky enough to live with another life form in that space you call home, you'll have to deal with their daily ramblings. This, and many other bitter mishaps in the past twelve hours, lead to you contemplating the meaning of life before sleep. The next day, you wake up to repeat the same thing with maybe a couple of minor, unimportant adjustments. During this period of time, the question you ask yourself the most is; how can I make this end? You can do it now.
The solution to all of your problems is a new form of out-of-body experience called 'disconnection'. Disconnection, it's name deriving from the well-known phrase 'disconnected from reality', is a skill that can be activated by tapping into the surface if one's brain. Only a select few of the world's general population can inherit it, but there have been cases of people creative enough to have mastered it in a span of six months or so. The phenomenon was also documented to be especially frequent in individuals of the age 12 to 25. In addition to all of the aforementioned privileges, disconnected people also possess the ability to share the thoughts with other disconnected individuals that fit to their liking. That can be done by coming into physical contact with said person.
How it works: Individuals with the ability to disconnect can't just tap into it whenever and wherever they wish; they need to isolate themselves from the ambiance noise first. Closets are ideal for anyone willing to blast away from their blunt lives. That being said, living rooms, bedrooms and restrooms can be used to disconnect too, as long as there is no outside noise, albeit the process requires more persistence and time than in a closet. Any person who wants to disconnect is also advised to bring a seat in, since exhaustion can interfere with your creativity and cause a little something called overflow
What is Overflow: Overflow is an interference that occurs in rare cases of exhaustion, an outside factor (like noise) or in case of a psychological disorder. During an Overflow, the disconnected person can experience several elements that don't belong in the world he/she has created. This happens because of an outside or inside influence that makes memories, ideas or real life components collide with the respective fantasy setting the disconnected person has created. While physically harmless, the occurrence can make psychological problems severe and add even more concern to already troubled minds, hence the coined term used to describe it - overflow. Overflow may also happen when two disconnected fail to coordinate their thoughts properly.
Are there any limits while disconnected?: While you may be an average person in real life, when disconnected, you basically turn into an omnipotent god. There are only limits if you decide to implement them. Having said that, the scope and the overall density of the fantasy world created does vary in different individuals, some having a lower creativity while some, a higher one.
I'm going for something pretty simple here. My character and yours are somewhat High School friends; not like really close friends, but they're friendly enough to greet each other and perhaps have small talk around. What they don't know about each other is that they're both individuals with the ability to disconnect. Once they find that out, they hang around and participate together in a lot of insane escapades as their friendship continuously evolves. Since I want to give creative freedom to the participant, the name of the city our characters reside in will be left unnamed. You can refer to it as a 'City' or however you wish. Same thing goes for the school too.
Also, both of us will have a turn at developing the fantasy world when disconnected, so we can resolve this in the OOC while we'll find a way for our characters to do so too, maybe in a game of rock-paper-scissors or so.
Age: Remember, you're supposed to be in High School, so 15-18 is my limit.
Gender: Self-explanatory
Personality: How your character acts around others.
Appearance: Picture, description or both.
Hobbies: Also self-explanatory.
I want you to make up a background story for your character, but not reveal it in the character sheet. You can reveal their backstory during the RP, or not. However you feel like it.
-Post must not go against the Guild's etiquette. -No godmodding. -I did mention this is lighthearted, so 18+ elements are not permitted. I'll tolerate moderated blood, cursing or even bits of violence, but anything beyond that I will not. -I'm no literature Nazi, but I'd like your posts to contain at least three-to-four paragraphs and to be understandable. Punctuation is also a must.
"He isn't buying it", an annoyed Alec grunted. What was anticipated to be a battlefield was instead replaced by a podium where two grown men, working for opposing factions, tried to up one another by throwing in assumptions. Alec wasn't that good at detecting lies, but he could sense Elijah had no idea what was happening either. He threw another look at the ninja on the roof, confused as to why he was still trying to save his cover. They were already mindful of his presence. His gaze, then, shifted to Elijah, who finally granted him the blessing to begin his interrogation - not like he needed a blessing, especially from a smug asshole like him. His continuous questions about whether the MRAP had a hemi engine were rather irritating, so he just put an end to them with a quick "No, it doesn't have one.", before taking a few confident steps towards the stairs.
"Let's go on with the first question", the meta spoke, his voice muffled due to the mask. "When you fought Elijah, was there another person in there with you? Perhaps a child?", he finished, awaiting the woman's response."This is no fun!", Jenni exhaled, disappointed she didn't get the chance to spill some blood. Dean actually considered letting her have a piece of the action for a moment, but the welcomed arrival of the other metas, one of them an FBI agent, spared him the pain. Either way, he was still rather unfazed by her occasional hateful comments. Although there was the possibility that she could take Dean's body over and lay some vengeance, she still was still his sister and he considered her like one. The hero stood by the FBI meta, Constantine, as the cartoon poster girl worked her way down the rubble, volunteering to find any survivors. A couple of electric noises later and the survivors could be barely seen emerging from, what once was, the FBI HQ.
Well, once I set up an OOC, you can both send me your sheets and I'll see which one fits the overall tone of the RP better. I won't do it for now tho'. It's night and I've been taught to not start anything while tired. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.
@SinfulSkills, well it's a combination of the two. The setting will be entirely set on our lovely protagonists' heads, but there will be minor supernatural touches, such as the ability to exchange thoughts. I added the ability in order to give sense to the situation, since it would be way too awkward if our respective delusional characters began imagining completely different settings. They wouldn't be able to coordinate their moves that way. Oh, and yes, the RP is gonna be fueled on crazy! The acid trip kind of crazy!
@Mousia, sure thing. I'm gonna start an OOC right now. Maybe I will finish it by the end of this night, maybe I won't. One thing's for sure; this is going to air.
Recent updates have allowed me with a lot of free time, time which I honestly don't know how to spend. So, I thought, what better way to spend it than in the company of sexy beasts like you guilders.
What I'm looking here is nothing complicated. I already have my hands full with another RP, which is progressing really slowly, so this is just a little something to fill the gaps. It's gonna be a high school (b)romance comedy drama fantasy roleplay. Basically, the entire plot of the RP revolves around two high school friends who both possess a vivid imagination, and their attempts at using that imagination to add flavor to their dull lives. I'm not looking for a specific gender here; if you want to play a female character, romance may be involved. If you want to play a male character, the romance will be replaced with bromance and enough dick jokes to put Adam Sandler to shame. There are going to be a couple of tearjerker moments here and there and a considerable dose of character development, but that's it. No villains, no recurring characters and most importantly, no story arcs. Once I get interest, I will start up an OOC thread and flesh it up more.
Also, just so that you know, I'm looking for a Casual roleplayer. Doesn't matter if you're a Low, Medium or High one. All that matters is for your posts to be understandable and punctuated.
I don't know what to feel about Cedric, honestly. He does appear whiny and unrefined most of the time, but he seems to be getting steady development, which is what I like in a character. All of the teens in this RP are already experienced death machines, Alex Mercer Biobeast being a prime example, but Cedric really feels like a 15 year old. Shortly put, he is not likeable yet, but he's a good character if that makes any sense.
Just so you know, I'm not referring to you personally, but if you want me to point 'em out for you, then sure. Your first post in the first arc: Cedric and William showed up amidst the battle without prior development for the sole reason to provide Nightingale a fighting chance. Second Arc, Disney Concert Hall: Gary Stuart sent the metas to be on the lookout for an attack without any intel suggesting that one will happen because Disney. This is, however, somewhat subverted due to there being a large concetration of protesters in the area. First arc again, the aftermath: Turns out the government had a healing meta that was never mentioned previously. While most of these can't be classified as asspulls, they just happen abruptly. No prior mention, no development, no no.nothing. I do have.praise in store for you too: I do like how you used the registry to track metahumans and how the charscters react, with Constantine being my favorite (while I'm very psyched.to see.how Cedric matures) I am terribly sorry if I offended you. I wasn't doing it on purpose.
Yeah, I think this is the main problem with this RP: too many asspulls. I'm guilty of that too, hell my MHRC NPC is like the epitome of a deus ex machina, but at least I tried to make my hunt for Nightingale as legitimate as I could.
